Chapter 3: Lunch Time

1223 Words
I was in the restroom washing my hands in the sink, when I looked in the mirror  I saw myself. Well, you can't exactly say that because instead of my dark blue eyes I was met with deep brown eyes that were looking at me from behind a pair of glasses. My face was still the same but instead of my usual blonde hair, chestnut brown hair framed my face. I looked different but at the same time I looked like me, if anyone knew to look for me they would find me easily.  I finished washing my hands and drying them and went out to the cafeteria. My dad made me take some food from the Palace with me that the chef had made for me, so I went to look for somewhere to sit.  The cafeteria was huge. There was more than a dozen of cream color, round tables and red chairs around them, almost all of them were full with people who were talking and eating.  Well, I thought. There goes that. I looked around and saw around ten high chairs along the wall that had some sort of table attached to the wall. They were mostly empty. Figures. I thought to myself. I sighed and made my way to the chairs.  As I was making my way to the chairs I was looking around at people. I wasn't looking at where I was going so when I bumped into something hard I was startled. I looked up and saw a pair of dark green eyes glaring at me.  He had the most beautiful face that I have seen, and trust me I have seen a lot of handsome boys who were trying to get my attention. He had the most beautiful eyes that were framed with dark thick eyelashes and a high cheekbone and a sharp jaw. His dark dirty blonde hair was messy to show that he had ran his hand in them several times already.  "I am so, so sorry." I said, while trying to clean up the mess I made with the boys food that I had spilled on the floor of not so white, white cafeteria. " I wasn't looking at whe-"  "Obviously," He rudely cut me off. "You weren't looking." He was still standing and when I looked up I saw that he had folded his hand in front of his chest and was still glaring at me. I clenched my jaw and biting back the rude comment that I had ready at the tip of my tongue. I slowly stood up to give myself time to take a deep breath to make sure I don't snap at Mr. Rude in front of me.  "Again I'm sorry." I said again. "If it makes you feel better I can get you your lunch." I offered. He looked at me and all of a sudden started to laugh at me, him and the two other boys who were behind him on either side, like I said something really funny. I frowned at their sudden outburst.  "What are you laughing at?" I asked, still frowning. "You really don't know who I am, do you?" The blonde in the front asked after he finished laughing. "Am I supposed to?" I asked, with raised eyebrows.  "You don't know who I am?" He boomed. I can swear if you dropped a pin in that moment, you could hear it. I just looked at him with my eyebrows raised in a question. I was also searching my brain. I knew I had seen him somewhere, and I know it wasn't just on TV... wait where did that come from?  I don't know why I couldn't remember where I had met him, if anything, I was good at remembering faces and names. That's why this is weird. But I didn't let that show on my face. I could see that he was loosing his patience as I continued to look at him with a questioning look. "I.AM.AIDEN.KING" He said every word through gritted teeth as he took a step closer to me. When he stopped our faces were centimeters apart. When he said his name, everything clicked into place. I gasped as it downed me who he was. I took a step back and look at him up and down. Now, I know why I don't remember seeing him anywhere.  This isn't happening. I thought. No, no, no. This can't be happening.  He took my gasp as a sign of fear because I could see he was smirking.  I stood straight and looked at him in the eye and said "You could be the King for all I care." With that said I made my way to the empty high chair with every eye on me. I hid my face with my hair and sat at the chair.  Aiden was taken aback by my actions and  words. I knew that saying that would mean asking for attention but I didn't care at the moment. I was angry that my childhood best friend has turned into this bad boy.  Sitting on the chair was a bit of struggle because of my five-feet-two height but luckily no one noticed that. The whole time I was waiting for Aiden or his clones to come after me and stop me but they didn't.  I took a deep breath and started to take out my lunch. As I was eating my mind drifted to my childhood memories of Aiden and I.  Aiden's father used to be a very close friend of my dad, and since Aiden was the same age as me we were practically inseparable from each other since we were very small. He used to come to the Palace every day and we used to paly with each other. We had our fights too, about stupid things that kids that age fight over but we would get together after a few minutes or with the help of one of the adults. Until we were nine.  One day he just didn't show up. I didn't know what happened and if asked anyone they would just brush it off or give me some stupid answer and thought I didn't know how stupid their answers sound. I wouldn't do anything all day, just sit on a chair outside in the gardens and wait for him to come and find me there since that was our special place. It was like that for a couple of weeks. I don't remember much because it was a time that was vey painful for. I had just lost my mom.  She wasn't just my mom, she was also my best friend. Even though she was the Queen, she always made sure that she had time to listen to me and spend time with me.  Aiden left me when I most needed him and because of that I blacked everything out, about him and whatever that happened.  Right now I was angry at him. Seeing him again today brought all the memories that I hadn't blocked out to the front of my mind.  I didn't notice but I was crying. That made me more mad and frustrated. I wiped the tear away and went back to eat my food.  I will not cry over him. I thought . He does not deserve it.
