I was making up excuses in my head as to why I was coming back at this ungodly hour but I guess I didn't even need it when I got home cos mom and dad were having a fist fight and didn't even notice when I walked in.
I sighed and went upstairs to my room. As soon as I got in, my phone started ringing. It was Theo. "Did you get home safe?" He asked . "Um,yea. My parents didn't even notice. Their arguing has gotten a lot worse. " I replied. "How about you give me a sneak peek?" He asked. "What do you mean?" I was getting confused. "Send me a video." He replied. "What ? Why?"."It's just that I wanna know what my girlfriend's going through. I mean, I thought you trusted me. " "Fine, fine. I do. Just give me a sec. " "I replied, hanging up . I went downstairs and made a video without being noticed and sent it to Theo, although I felt uneasy doing so. But I decided to forget it and go to bed. I mean, it was past midnight, and I've got school in the morning.
I yawned and turned off my alarm, had a bath, got dressed, and went downstairs, but something was off. Mom and dad weren't fighting. That's a good thing. Right? But, I'm still confused. "Honey," mom called out to me as I got down the stairs. OK; so, first of all, she never calls me any pet names, so I was getting more confused . Second of all, she was sitting next to my dad in the living room, and that was weirder. "Jenna, come over here. Your mom and I have something important to discuss with you." Dad added after seeing the confusion on my face. "What's up?" I asked, walking towards them. "Well, the thing is---" mom stuttered. "We're getting a divorce." Dad dropped the bomb. "It's about time." I rolled my eyes. "WHAT?!" Mom and dad echoed in sync. s**t! Did I just say that out loud? "Byee." I said nervously, walking past them.
I ran into Thea on my way to the lecture hall. "Hey girl," I said with a wave."OMG! Jenna, you are not gonna believe this. " She said, waving her phone in my face. " I squinted but couldn't make out a single word on the screen. "I've also got something important to discuss with you." I had to tell her my parents were planning to get a divorce."What?"she inquired. "No, you go first." I replied. "Your dad is getting married next month."Wait. That's not true. How do I not know about this?" "I dunno. But what I do know is that it's true cos it's all over the news. " "What?" I was beyond surprised. Well, the thing is my dad used to be an actor, so he's like popular and stuff like that, but people don't know I'm his daughter except Thea and Theo, duh. "Girl, literally everyone on social media is talking about his divorce and marriage."Thea said, calling back my attention.
Unfortunately, I couldn't focus during any of my classes today, and the day was so excruciatingly slow that I felt like dying.
After school, I met Thea again. "Oh, I soooo do not feel like going home today. I feel like it's gonna be flooding with paparazzi. So, I was thinking we'd hang out at your place just for today. " I literally begged. "Oops, I'm so sorry I've got a tennis match this afternoon." She apologised. "Yea, it's fine. I'm gonna wait for you. "I replied and left immediately so she wouldn't change her mind. I felt like calling Theo to tell him everything but decided against it. About an hour and a half later, my phone beeped. I got a text from Thea.
T: 'OMG, girl, it's gotten worse .'
My heart skipped a beat. What did she mean by that? I hurriedly texted her back.
J: 'What do you mean? '
T:'Okay, so like this is my half-time, so I do not have the time to explain, so Imma just say, check the school's group chat, and you'll find your answers'
I opened the group chat, and I couldn't believe my eyes. People were literally talking about by parents like they'd lived with them their whole lives. But what I saw next shocked me to the core. I saw a video of my parents fighting, and for some strange reason, it looked familiar. More like the video I sent my boyfriend whom I trusted a lot. Like, how can he do this to me?
