CHAPTER FOUR
Denneris
I would have laughed at her childish display of frustration on a good day, but today was not one of those days. I was stuck in a hospital and had the stale taste of antibiotics in my taste buds.
"This is a miracle. Never in my ten years of service have I heard or seen this happen." The doctor's words startled me from my thoughts and his amazed glare made me wonder if indeed I resurrected from the dead.
My drowsy eyes moved from the blinding lights in my ward, to the frame hung on the wall with letters I could barely make out. I blinked twice, in an attempt to adjust to the light. My body felt stiff like it had been immobile for years.
I was stabbed yesterday so I could understand why my muscles were stiff. After several attempts to blink away the drowsiness had failed, I was choked by a tight hug from an overjoyed black haired woman.
At least, I could see her hair color from the fogginess that was my current state at the moment. Her soft breasts completely covered my face as she sunk my head into it's fullness.
"Thank you for coming back to me my baby. Thank you." She whispered into my hair like I was the only thing that mattered to her in the universe. Drops of her tears soaked my shoulders, as she held me tighter.
"Let go of me, I can't breathe." I choked out to the strange lady, my fragile hands in the air ready to push her away from me. I barely understood my own voice but at the moment, I just needed breathing space.
"Who are you?. Why am I here?." I asked the black haired woman whose recent happiness was replaced with worry.
She stared at her partner, her eyes tearing up again. He was by her side in seconds, ready to console her.
"It's me Claire. It's mum." Her voice was shaky as she spoke, but she still kept on repeating those strange words like I would suddenly recognize her as the mother she wasn't.
My mum had a long history of been the most beautiful and adored woman in her youths. She was and still is a sight to behold. Her hazel nut hair with sprays of grey was a marvel to behold.
Meanwhile, the woman before me, did not even come close to been half of who Queen Rhonda of the Tye Kingdom was. She looked like she would fit perfectly as one of the kitchen attendants in the palace.
She moved close to me again; but I was quick to avoid her like the plague. The IV needle still in my hand sent a sharp pain down my spine as I moved but it was nothing to be compared to the pain I experienced yesterday.
"My wedding." I gasped loudly.
I remembered the ordeal of yesterday like it just happened. Me in the pool of my own blood and the cold hands of death. I shivered as I watched faces I had never met before look at me like I was not in my right state of mind.
My parents were probably out there searching for me and Gregory would have downed down an entire bottle of hard liquor by now. I believed in miracles. Me alive and well, was a miracle which I couldn't wait to rub on Alaric's face.
He was going down and I was going to have the last laugh watching him burn in hell.
"I can't be here lady. Thank you for saving me, you will be greatly rewarded for your services." I said to the couples and to the doctor who was to my utter surprise the only person who did not wear his emotion like a second skin.
The couples before me looked like they were about to kneel before me and cry their eyes out. But the doctor, was indeed a professional. I had to give him his crown.
There was no time for me to do a thank you bow to these lovely couples or question them on how they found me. That would be done after I got home safely.
I had a wedding to attend and an arrest to make. My legs finally touched the cold ground but my body refused to move.
"If you don't mind doctor, can I be transported to the palace immediately. I am the Luna of this kingdom." I expected shocked gasps and actions to be carried out immediately but my words were responded with a loud cry from the black haired woman.
"Claire honey. This is Arcadun; the human kingdom."
The crazy woman approached me again to hold me. My body was weaker than I thought because I could barely lift a finger to push her away.
There was no way I was in the human kingdom. My scent was strong enough to have any human running for their dear lives.
"Why didn't they run and how exactly did I get here?." I asked myself these absurd questions but came up with nothing.
"How the f**k did I get here?!." I screamed at the strange people before me, my heart beating fast with each scream.
"I need you two to leave." The doctor said to the couples who tried to console me from where they stood.
"You'll be fine." The doctor said, his voice calming me down from my earlier rage. I just wanted to go home, I wanted to be safely tucked in my queen sized bed and happily married to my mate.
"Please let me go home." I pleaded with the doctor who had a syringe placed on my fluid bag. He was sending me back to sleep.
"You'll be fine Claire. Everything will be alright." The doctor's voice sounded so far away as I fought to stay awake.
"Denneris, my name is Denneris Tye." It was hard to say a thing in my current state but I did not want to forget who I was or what I stood for and the doctor needed to know that as well.
