Chapter1
I could hear the sound of two moaning adults as I walked towards the office. The sound of my heels echoed in the hallway as it came in contact with the concrete floor. Nervously, I pushed my hair behind my ears and kept going “Don't even try to stop me!” I said sternly, shoving Lucas's hands off my shoulders aggressively as he tried stopping me from entering the office; Lucas has worked as Simon’s personal assistant for two years, the middle-aged man was always very playful with me. He, however, seemed rather disturbed seeing me at the office. I stood before the door, the sound of their bodies colliding had now become clearer;. I placed my hands on the doorknob and paused for a while. Looking back at Lucas, I could see fear all over his face.I was really hoping it was not Simon in there with another woman.
My hope was shattered as soon as I opened the door, a blonde lady was bending over on Simon's table while he thrust vigorously behind her. They both seemed oblivious of my presence; Simon raised his head, his gaze meeting mine just in time to catch the tears that had formed in my eyes threatening to fall. He smirked and continued to thrust, holding on to the blond lady firmly and running his other hands through his hair all the while still keeping his gaze fixated on me with the most cunning smile plastered on his face.
I suddenly felt numb; I watched as my husband tilted his eyes and found his release with an unknown woman right before me.
“Simon!!” I screamed when I finally found my voice. My insides were churning from disgust.“so the rumors are true?” I continued “why would you do this to me?” I said amid tears and watched Simon pick up his shirt and slid his arms into them in the most casual manner . He pecked the blond lady who smiled back in return; I could not believe my eyes. I had just caught my husband sleeping with another woman and he didn’t seem bothered that I had seen it all.
“ Tazlyn,” he finally said, still maintaining his calm demeanor, “ I wouldn't watch if I were you,” his voice echoed in my ears.
Tucking his buttons into their holes, he continued “I want you out of the house by the time I get back” he said sternly, striding past me with his heavy shoulder brushing against mine roughly.
“ Simon, what is this about?” I said, tugging at his arms as he passed beside me, heading for the door.
Peeling my hands off aggressively, “Tazlyn, I am way out of your league now” he said. I was lost, I couldn’t tell what he meant by that. “I want a divorce” he blankly stated. And made for the door
“ I made you everything you are today and this is how you repay me?” My shaky voice echoed in the room. Simon paused in his tracks, he turned around, moving towards me with an aura I dreaded. He grabbed my arms aggressively. “Everything I have today” he started his finger drilling into my skin from his firm grip “I got by my merits, you bloody onlooker” he said to my face, spat and released me from his grip. I lost my balance from his rough release, and it took every strength in me not to fall to the ground.
I raised my head while trying to find my balance and caught sight of him as he stormed out.
The blond lady followed behind him, giving me a scornful look as she walked by.
Then it dawned on me, Simon Stones was really throwing me out of his life. I wiped the tears on my cheek and put my dark shades back on;heading out , I made a few calls and my driver arrived.
The drive was a long one. I stared out the window , looking at the lone roads. Lost in my own thoughts as the driver took me around round in circles . I had no idea where to go. “Can’t you see it Tazlyn, I am way out of your league!!!” Simon’s words kept ringing in my head. I took a deep sigh, my mind drifting back to our first meeting.
I had walked into a coffee shop on the streets of Birmingham that morning and I met him.
His brown hair rested well on his cheek, gracing his oblong face. His biceps were very visible through his tanked top. He had a huge smile on as he greeted me as if we had met before; we had a series of small talks and I left the coffee shop that noon with butterflies in my stomach.
I built whatever Simon has today, and I was still in disbelief that he would break me this way. I shrugged my shoulders, I could not believe Simon would discredit all my hard work and support in this manner.
“Ding ding ding” my phone vibrated on my lap, I picked it up, and the name sprawled on the screen had my heart racing. I was not expecting Brayan to call me at this time, there was no way I could talk to him now, especially not in the state I was in. I could not let him perceive me as weak.
“So I heard your beloved husband is filing for a divorce”, Brayan’s words made my already shaking world crumble right before me. “ How could he have found out?” I muttered to myself. But then this was Brayan Smith, the only son of the Smiths' family and my brother. Of course, he had me under close watch. I sighed at the realization.
“This is what happens when you mingle with low lives” he continued. That stern, deep voice I had known for twenty-five years of my life was still the same.
“Brayan em” I stuttered over the phone, “come home now Tazlyn smith!!” he said sternly and hung up.
I could not help the aggression that followed after the call with my brother. I knew my little game was over, I really wanted my marriage with Simon to work, so my family could find him worthy of me. I built his business with him from scratch so he could meet up to my standards, but now it's all blown in my face. Simon had betrayed me, and it was now time for me to go back to my life as the only daughter of the Smith empire.
