CHAPTER FOUR
EUGENE'S POV
“Give me one good reason why I should step my feet in that bloody house of yours.” I spat in anger as I held my phone to my ear, my blood boiling with fury.
“Because I'm your father!”
“Father? You're my Father? You should have thought about that before you killed my mother right in front of me. You're just a bloody coward who would forever live with that guilt.”
“Eugene!” Robert snapped and I scoffed as I dropped the phone on the table, not wanting to speak to him anymore.
“You've taken everything from me already, Eugene. Isn't that enough revenge?” He replied with a tired voice and I laughed in amusement at his words.
“Enough? Do you know what's stopping me from sending a bullet through your skull? Mom made me promise to never hurt you even when she was dying! She dedicated her whole life and love to an animal like you. Nothing you do will ever make me forgive you.” I stated coldly and just as I was about to hang up, his voice called out, softer than before.
“I know I will never be the father you want. But you're still my son. I have something very important to discuss with you. I'll be expecting you tomorrow.” He spoke softly, and before I could reject it, he ended the call.
What a manipulative bastard.
I swirled around in my chair as I picked up my phone and dialed a number. Just then, someone knocked on the office door before coming in with a man who was tied up and covered with a sackcloth.
“Boss.” The person on the other side of the phone spoke up, and I took out the gun from my drawer, pointing it at the tied-up man who was now on his knees begging for mercy.
“Tell me, Michael, what has Robert been up to these days?” I asked as I pulled the trigger and watched as the man slumped to the ground, lifeless. There was silence from the other side of the phone before Michael spoke up.
“He's been more focused on his company. It seems like he's finally handed the Mafia legacy over to you. He's also been collecting his debts from those who owe him. Also, he has a new worker. Apparently, the girl was given away in exchange for the debts the family owed.” He reported, and I let out a scoff of amusement while the man who brought in the now-dead man started to clean up the bloody mess.
“Remember to dispose of him without traces,” I said to the man standing in front of me and he bowed in response before dragging out the dead man.
“May I ask what happened, boss?” I heard Michael say and I sighed lazily as I leaned back into my chair.
“You know the usual, he tried to sell my information to the police. I wasn't in the mood to torture him so I let him die a simple death. I've been really nice these days, right Michael?”
“Indeed boss.” He replied curtly and I sighed for the millionth time today.
“I'll be coming to Robert's house tomorrow. He's beginning to get on my nerves with how much he's been calling these days. See you tomorrow.” I said, and he replied with a ‘Yes, boss!’ before hanging up.
I got up and looked outside the window, the moon shining brightly in the sky with other stars surrounding it. It was a beautiful night indeed.
*****
The next morning, I woke up to the nightmare that haunted me every night. My Mom begged for her life while my dad pulled the trigger on her. I was gonna make him pay for what he did.
Arriving at his old mansion, just as I wanted, everyone avoided my gaze and made sure that they weren't in my way. I loved the feeling of being feared; it gave me fulfillment like no other.
I spotted my stepmother by the garden and she didn't look too happy to see me. I could see the fear in her eyes when I glanced at her and she immediately cowered as she turned away from me.
Bunch of cowards.
I walked up to the door and pulled it open, but before I could step in, I felt something hot sting my skin, and I glanced down in horror to see my white suit stained with what looked like… tea.
I glanced at the maid in front of me and her eyes were wide in shock as terror as she stood there, without saying anything. Wasn't she supposed to be on her knees begging for her life?
She still didn't move or say anything and my anger finally reached its limit.
“Are you blind?” I yelled in anger as my hand connected with her face harder than I expected, and suddenly, she was on the floor like she had passed out.
“Are you trying to fool me? Get up!” I yelled again as I kicked her legs gently but when she wouldn't budge, I crouched down to see if she was still breathing.
When I felt her pulse over my fingers, I let out a sigh of relief. My eyes took in her appearance and I realized I had never seen her before. She was probably the girl Michael talked about.
But why does she look so young?
I placed my hand on her chin as I moved her head left and right and I realized she wouldn't be older than eighteen. Why would he have such a child work for him? Was he now a trafficker?
“Eugene!” I heard his harsh voice call my name and a smirk formed on my face as I got up slowly and turned to face him.
“Seems like you've been very desperate these days huh? You've left the Mafia world for trafficking?” I mocked and his eyes widened as he pointed at me in anger.
“How dare you say such words to me? What did you do to my worker?” He flared in fury and I smiled to myself.
“Making an eighteen-year-old girl work for you under harsh conditions is child abuse. Has no one told you that?”
“She's not working under harsh conditions! You're spouting nonsense.” A shrill voice came from behind me and I just knew it was Sharon.
“Nonsense? She looks like she hasn't eaten for days. All I did was slap her and she fainted. What do you think?” I asked as I raised a brow at her and she stumbled backward in fear.
“Eugene, this was not what I called you here for. You have no right to discipline my property.” Robert said calmly as he came closer and I burst into laughter, anger building up inside me like a hurricane.
“Your property? Your property ruined my perfect suit. You know what? This was a useless trip.” I mumbled in dissatisfaction as I turned around and walked out of the house but not before glancing at the unconscious girl on the floor.
Robert tried to call after me but I rushed into my car and drove out as I took deep breaths to steady myself. When I stopped in front of my office, I took out my phone and called Michael, my eyes lighting up when he picked up almost immediately.
“Boss.”
“Michael, I have a job for you. I want you to bring that new girl over to my place. I don't care how you do it, she's my property now.”
