Ch1 Their deafening screams and the pain in my chest was blinding. I couldn't believe how this day was ending. I was an alpha for goddesses sake. I was better than this. Stronger than this. All I could think of was all the pain my pack members were in as their lives were being taken. I looked at the man that was my mate, my co alpha, the man I had seen as my equal. He was laughing at my pain calling us all weak and pathetic. He had never intended for us to be equal. He laughs at me as he tells me. "This is exactly why someone like you. A soft untrand woman could never be anybody's alpha." I felt so low. I had done this to my people. I had brought this man into my pack, and my home. I should have known that taking a chosen mate over a feted mate to share alpha with would turn out wrong. I wished I had listened to my best friend, my brother and my beta when he said not to trust him. Now he lay a few feet from me. He had given his all to protect me. Something was in that drink that completely paralised her. My breathing became slow and raget this was the end. I just hoped my people and my parents would forgive me. He grabbed his chest for only a second as he turned around to see me falling to the ground. I couldn't move now and my breathing was slow and I knew I was near death's door. The last thing I saw was my childhood friend turned bully come up beside my supposed mate. She kissed him hard before laughing and then kicking me hard in the ribs and spitting in my face. “I'm glad that you got what you deserved. All ways a know it all. I bet you didn't see this coming” she said with a smirk. All I could do was feel sorry for her. How could she do this to her own pack just because she didn't like me. All I could do was hope that at lesse some of my pack members got to safety and survived this horrible night. I felt death near. I looked around one more time at everything on fire. A tear slid down my face as I said goodbye to everything and my short lived life. I reached for my beta just out of old habit and wanting the comfort as I let death come and get me. ….RUN! That's all my body could do. I didn't know why, I just knew something was after me. It was dark and I couldn't see. I didn't know where I was or how I got there but it was really scary. There is a bright light and a loud sound coming towards me. BANG. I'm flying, the air knocked out my lungs. I feel my head hit the ground hard and a moan comes out. The pain is blinding. There is a cracking sound. The guys looked around but didn't see anything coming out of the woods. They looked back down at the wolf on the ground. They froze in fear. The police were soon there with the ambulance and they managed to find a pulse. "She is still alive should we take her to the hospital where the other two are." The paramedic asked the police officers. " Yes, maybe we can piece together what happened with all of them there together." The lead detective answered. Turning to the two men who smelled like they had maybe had too much to drink tonight he started to ask his questions. "Now what were you two doing back in these parts this time of night?" "We were going to go hunting." The first one said, "Not in these woods with all the clams of massive wolves and now these women coming out of nowhere." The detective explained. "Until we find out what's going on around here no one should be in these woods." That was an order that everyone understood because this situation was getting scary. "Did you at least get her name?"
