AMELIA
But the truth is, I don't want him to stop doing that. I feel something when I'm here, and I don't want him to stop looking at me like that. It seems Tyler likes to watch me, and it reminds me of when he was watching me in the forest the night before.
"Mmmm, this is very good. What kind of meat is this? Pork?", I ask, eating more of the yummy food.
"Boar meat; I was lucky and managed to hunt this one a few days ago...", he says, also starting to eat, and I smile looking at the meat.
I've never had a problem with food, but I've never tasted this kind of meat, and knowing that Tyler was the one who hunted and prepared this animal makes it even more interesting.
"It's very good; it seems you cook very well, Tyler.", I mumble about eating more, and he nods.
"Yeah, I had to learn, or I'd starve to death...", he says, eating more meat.
I look at my plate and see vegetables, and I eat everything, feeling more satisfied. After everything that happened, I needed a good meal to recover my energy.
Tyler looks like a man who likes to live alone and must have been doing it for a long time. I don't know anything about him, and I feel more and more curious when I look at the tall and strong man sitting in front of me.
"Have you lived alone here for a long time?", I am curious, seeing that Tyler raises his head to watch me.
He continues to chew as if he is deciding whether it is good to answer my questions.
"Yes."
"What about your family? It seems that you are the only one living in this forest? Where are they now?"
"You are a very curious human, Amelia..."
"Well, I'm trying to get to know more about the man who saved me; you asked me questions after you found me, and I'm just doing the same thing.", I explain, shaking my shoulders.
"Ask me anything you want, but I don't want to talk about my family.", he says, and I nod quickly.
Tyler goes back to eating in silence, and I realize he got uncomfortable when I asked about his family. This is common because many people have family issues, and I mentally wonder if his family also came from a werewolf lineage.
There must be something to it for him to live in a dangerous place alone for so long.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable; I won't ask you anything anymore...", I say sincerely, seeing him deny it with his head.
"It's okay; I just don't like talking about them. You're a curious human, and you can ask questions if you want. You lived in a world you never really knew, Amelia. "So ask if you want."
I nod, taking a sip of water from my glass before sighing and choosing one of the thousands of questions that are dominating my mind after everything that has happened.
"Will my father be a vampire forever?", I ask, feeling sad.
"Unfortunately, yes, I'm sorry about that. But he can learn to control his thirst for blood, and that will be easier for everyone."
"Are the legends about vampires real?"
"It depends on what you think about vampires. Vampires are cruel creatures; I have never met a vampire who had a good heart; they all usually kill for blood; they cannot live in daylight; and only a wooden stake or silver bullet can kill a vampire."
I think about what Tyler just told me. Of course, everyone has heard of vampires once in their lives, but everyone thought it was just a horror story. Now I live in a world where it is all very real.
"So there are two types of vampires?", I asked about what he said about wood and silver.
"Yes. There are the elder vampires, who are the strongest and oldest vampires and who raised the others; this type can only be killed with a special type of wood that is rarely found.", he says, looking at me, and I nod, understanding him.
We both finish eating, and I see Tyler get up to start organizing the table. I try to get up too to help him, but his strong hands push me again, and I sit down in the chair, looking at him.
"I want to help...", I say, and he nods.
"You're in no condition to do that, so be a good human and sit down.", he says, and I sigh, smiling discreetly.
He goes back to the kitchen with the dishes, and my eyes fixate again on the lit fireplace. I look out the big window on the other side, seeing the darkness of the night outside. I feel my body shiver as I remember how cold I was feeling yesterday when I was running in the rain and injured.
After a few minutes, Tyler comes back, and he doesn't say anything before picking me up again and placing me on the couch. He sits next to me, stretching his hands towards the fire as my fingers reach for the book again.
I start reading again, trying to distract myself because I can't stop looking at Tyler sitting next to me. I don't know how much time passes, but I'm still reading when I hear his voice:
"Are you enjoying this book?", I lift my head to find his golden eyes looking at me, and I nod quickly.
"Yes, it's a good story, and I can't stop reading...", I whisper, going back to the book and hearing his voice once again.
"Well, this is one of my favorite books, and I'm glad you're enjoying this story too...", he murmurs, and minutes later I'm lost between words again.
I don't know how much time passes, but I open my eyes, realizing that I was asleep. I turned my head, seeing that I was sleeping on Tyler's shoulder. Furthermore, I look down, seeing that one of my hands is near his belly.
I blink my eyes when I see that I was asleep cuddled up to his body, and it makes me embarrassed. He doesn't move, and I lift my head, but he's still awake and looking at me now.
"Sorry about that...", I mumble, and he nods.
"Oh, don't worry, it's very normal, and almost always a human girl sleeps cuddling me like I'm a stuffed animal.", he says, and I start laughing and rubbing my eyes.
"I'm tired, and it seems late; can I take a bath before bed? That would help me a lot...", I say, and he nods, getting up from the couch.
"I'll heat some water for you; wait here...", he says, walking off towards the bedroom.
"There are many things I still don't know about this world, and there are many things I need to know about this world after what happened to my father."
I almost died yesterday, and today I'm here in this cabin with a werewolf. It's very confusing for me, and my thoughts disappear when Tyler returns.
"Your bath is ready...", he says, and seconds later my hands grip his shoulders as I feel him reach over my body to pick me up again.
"Are you always going to do this? Should I get used to it?", I ask, making him smile as he carries me back to the bedroom.
On a normal night, I would be asleep in my house right now, and my dad would be coming home drunk at any moment. It would be a normal night, but nothing feels normal right now.
Tyler takes me to the bathroom in the bedroom, and I'm surprised when I see a big bathtub full of water waiting for me. This is a cabin in the middle of the forest, but I never thought there could be a bathtub like this in here.
He places me carefully on the floor, and I avoid putting my injured foot on the floor, so I don't feel pain once again. I look at the water that looks hot, and I feel my body begging for a bath like this.
"I'll be in the room, so be careful and don't hurt yourself once again, Amelia.", he says quickly, leaving and closing the bathroom door.
My hands quickly removed Tyler's t-shirt from my body, and I stepped carefully into the water. I close my eyes, sighing in satisfaction, when I feel the warm water envelop my body.
I needed this. Furthermore, I move my fingers against the foamy water, thinking that this must be the best shower I've ever had in my life.
I hold my hair back and start to wash my body, thinking that Tyler is in the room right now. It feels so good in here, and I never want to get out of this tub again.
I close my eyes and lean my head against the edge of the tub, trying to relax my body. I think of positive things and get completely confused when I start to imagine Tyler naked and bathing in this very tub.
Furthermore, I feel my whole-body shiver when I imagine that scene, and I shake my head, trying to push that kind of thought out of my mind. He saved me and took care of me, and I feel so grateful for that.
