CHAPTER 4

1488 Words
AMELIA "Is there any way to turn this situation around with my father?", I ask, looking at Tyler, and he nods. "I'm sorry, but no. There's no way to turn your father back into a human; he's dangerous now and has no control; that's why you're safer here...", he says, touching the bandage on my foot. "Here with you?", I whisper, drying my face, and see that the man nods. "Yeah, I won't hurt you; werewolves don't hurt humans, only vampires and stuff...", he whispers, coming back to sit beside me. "I know you didn't want this, but this is your new life now, Amelia.", Tyler says. I feel more like crying, but it seems my body is still too weak to continue doing so. I see Tyler's big hands touch my arm to check the wound on my arm. "Your wounds don't look bad; they will heal quickly, but you need to feed them if you want to stay well.", he says, getting up, and I feel a thousand questions inside my head. But I feel too weak to try to ask anything. I see Tyler's hands touch my shoulders, and seconds later he is carrying me out of the room. I'm still surprised he's doing this, and I look at his face as he continues to carry me somewhere else in the cabin. He's doing this because he knows I would be in too much pain if I tried to walk out of the room. I don't feel afraid of him now; I'm confused because he looks like a lone werewolf who lives alone in a high part of the forest. He looks like the kind of man who loves to live alone and hates people, but he's doing it for me because he knows I won't be safe out there. He turns his head, and his golden eyes fix on my face again, but this time I can see every detail of his face. Furthermore, he is a very handsome man, and I mentally wonder if there are more werewolves like him in this forest. Is he the only one? Now I realize that I was very lucky to find him when I was running away in that forest, or I would be dead right now. We arrive in a living room, and my eyes find a lit fireplace that seems to warm the whole place. There is a couch that looks very comfortable, and in a few seconds, Tyler starts to put me on the couch. My hands still hold his neck, and our eyes lock on each other for a moment. I feel something growing inside me that I can't explain, but I feel that I'm safe with him in this cabin. Tyler is a werewolf, and I'm just an injured human that he brought home and took care of, and I feel so grateful that he did. "Are you comfortable?", he whispers, and my eyes are fixed on his lips. I nod, still looking at his mouth. "Yes, thank you...", I say it as if something is drawing me to him. So much is happening at once in my life, but I feel very intrigued when I'm too close to Tyler, and I need to understand that. My hands keep holding his shoulders as if I'm unable to separate myself from him. I lived alone with my father for so long, but I've never felt this way as I do right now. We keep looking at each other, and I blink my eyes when I see his golden eyes look brighter as he keeps looking at my face. "It's like I said: you make me very confused, Amelia...", he says, pulling away, and I look around. It's a simple decoration that's very nice at the same time. Tyler likes living alone in this cabin, and I think I would feel the same way if I lived in this place that seems to keep me safe. "I'll make you something to eat...", he says, leaving through another door that I think is the kitchen of the log cabin. I'm still wearing Tyler's oversized T-shirt, and it looks pretty cold outside, but I'm warmed up right now, and my eyes are fixed on the flames inside the warm fireplace. On top of the fireplace is a large shelf of books, and this increases my curiosity. Something tells me that one of the things Tyler loves to do in this cabin is read a good book while sitting warm by the fireplace. I hear him doing something in the kitchen as I try to get up from the couch. I groan when I feel the pain in my feet, but I keep walking slowly to the fireplace. My fingers touch the thick spines of each book, and a smile appears on my lips when I do this because I have always loved books. I had few books in my room because we lived far away from the city and never had opportunities to buy more books, so I always re-read every book I had, but it seems Tyler has a full library here. I'm about to pull out one of the books when I feel someone behind me. Likewise, I turn my head to see Tyler watching me, and it scares me because I didn't hear him coming. Furthermore, I turn around and feel the pain in my foot, and it makes me lose my balance. I close my eyes, feeling my body fall, and I brace myself to feel the impact, but it doesn't happen because strong arms hold me before I hit the ground. "I caught you...", he whispers, and I open my eyes, seeing that his face is very close to mine now. I feel my breathing get heavier as I feel his arms hold me tight. He was far away and managed to hold me. I stay silent, looking at the golden pupils that seem to decipher. My hands are holding his shoulders, and at that moment I feel crazier because I wish to kiss Tyler right now. He charms me as no one has ever done before... "You need to be careful, Amelia...", he whispers, putting me back on the couch, and I sigh quietly. I watch Tyler walk back over to the fireplace and see his fingers pull out the book I wanted to take. He reaches over and hands it to me. "Thank you...", I smile, looking at the thick cover of the book in my hands. "Do you like to read, or was that just curiosity to see what a lone werewolf like me likes to do?", he asks, arching an eyebrow, and I widen my smile. Tyler spends a lot of time alone, and that means he's not used to having humans in his house. "I've loved reading since I was a kid...", I mutter, reading the title of the book before opening it and looking at the pages full of letters. "Well, then you're like me; just sit there and read and try not to fall again; I'm going back to the kitchen...", he says, leaving the room, and I focus my attention on the first few sentences of the book. I get lost in the words and keep reading until I lift my head and see Tyler placing a tray of food on a table in the corner of the room. He approaches me, and I know what he's going to do again. I feel nervous at the thought of him touching me again. "You don't have to do that; I can manage on my own...", I mutter nervously, but he ignores my sentence and picks me up again. I shiver, feeling his hands touching my legs as he places me on the chair in front of the small table. I sigh, lifting my head and seeing that he is looking at me with his golden pupils. "If I let you walk in this state, you will fall and break your leg. You are weak, so eat.", he says seriously, and I start laughing looking at him. Tyler frowns as if he can't understand why I'm laughing right now, looking at him. "I'm starting to like your weird humor, Tyler...", I say, smiling, and he shakes his head before sitting down in front of me. My eyes were fixated on the tray full of food. I feel my belly begging for food, and I feel very hungry right now. My fingers grab the fork, and I put some meat in my mouth. I close my eyes, groaning in satisfaction. When I taste the roasted and seasoned meat, I open my eyes, finish chewing, and see that Tyler is analyzing me. "You need to stop looking at me like that...", I am embarrassed that I have pieces of meat between my teeth. "Oh, I'm sorry...", he says as if he's embarrassed to be doing that.
