AMELIA
But I can't go back to sleep because the noise gets louder. I open my eyes again, realizing that this time everything is different from the other nights.
I get up quickly and open the door to my room. Seeing only the kitchen lights on, I approach the kitchen, where I see my father with his back to me.
"Dad? Are you okay?", I ask, seeing him slowly turn to look at me.
I rub my eyes, trying to know if I am dreaming now, but I see my dad's eyes completely red. His eyes have always been dark brown, and now they are red.
"Dad?", I whisper, calling out to him, seeing him start to approach me.
I start to pull away, seeing that he has a wild expression on his face. He has never looked like this, and I know there is something wrong now.
He grunts in my direction, and when I see him get closer, I run to my room.
My father quickly runs after me, and I scream, trying to close my bedroom door, but he seems stronger than me.
I struggle to get the door locked, but he manages to get into the room easily.
"Dad, what happened? You're scaring me...", I say fearfully, moving further and further away, seeing his shadow in the dark room.
He remains silent, and I try to run out of the room. When he comes closer, he pushes me hard against one of the glass windows, and I hear the sound of the glass breaking.
I feel a pain in my arm, but I don't care about it at this point because I'm getting more and more scared. I keep talking to him, but it seems like he can't hear me; it's like something is possessing his body.
He lifts me quickly and presses my body against a wall. I start crying, trying to get loose, when he squeezes my neck hard. I keep struggling to get loose when I see that, at that moment, he opens his mouth like he wants to bite me.
"Dad! Stop it, you're hurting me...", I whisper with difficulty, feeling the air vanishing from my lungs as he squeezes my neck harder.
He brings his mouth closer to my neck, and I open my eyes wide when I see that his teeth are bigger and very sharp. I need to stop him, or he'll keep hurting me.
"Run away, Amelia!", he shouts as if he's fighting something inside his body.
He keeps holding me, and I raise my hand, grabbing a big piece of glass from the broken window. He keeps hurting me, and I quickly pierce his body with the glass.
My father screams, falling to the ground, and I start to run out of our house with a lot of fear. I won't stop running, feeling the cold night wind blowing against my body.
I need to keep running...
Golden eyes.
This is exactly what I see again when I open my eyes; the golden pupils are fixed on my face as if they have been watching me like this for hours. I frown and lie there, watching Tyler stare at me sitting up in bed.
I should be scared of this because I'm alone here with a man I don't know, but I can't feel scared of him right now; it's like I'm completely intrigued by this man who claims to be a werewolf.
Furthermore, I blink my eyes quickly, realizing that this time I overslept. I sit up in bed, seeing that he keeps watching me as if he can see my soul.
"Why are you looking at me like that?", I ask, looking at him.
The color of his eyes is different from anything I've ever seen in my life. I know perfectly well that there are no human eyes with this coloration, and it makes me more and more confused.
"I wanted to see if you were just sleeping or if you were dead...", he says seriously, and I smile, starting to laugh with the expression on his face.
"I see your humor is one of your greatest qualities.", I say, looking at him and smiling.
He keeps looking at me as if I'm too strange for him.
"You confuse me, Amelia...", he whispers, and I frown, touching my face.
"Do I make you confused? Why?", I ask, and he blinks his golden eyes before moving closer.
I don't know him, and we're in this cabin in the middle of a dangerous forest, and he's approaching me. I should feel scared and move away, but I don't move when I see him sitting next to me on the bed.
"Because you look different to me; you look human, but it feels like there is something else inside you, and it makes me very confused."
I'm sure I'm not different; I'm just a human who can't go home because I'm scared of what might have happened to my dad.
I close my eyes for a few seconds and think about my dad. Furthermore, I lift my head and look at Tyler. It's night now, and I can see the dark sky through the bedroom window.
"I want to go back to my house, Tyler...", I whisper with tears in my eyes, and he seems to watch my expression carefully.
"I know you want to do that, but unfortunately that won't be possible; your father is too dangerous right now, and he can do more than just hurt you, Amelia.", he says as if he knows what exactly happened to my father the night before.
"You know important things, and you're not telling me...", I mutter, and he nods his head, looking at the bedroom window.
I see the tall man get up from the bed and approach the window. I sit on the bed and stare at him.
"There are many things you don't know in this world; you were raised in the human world, and you don't know the other side of the world you live in, Amelia."
"I shouldn't be telling you this, but it seems that you already entered this part of this world when you saw your father's state the night before; you were right, that wasn't him.", he says, turning to look at me.
"What happened to my father?", I ask with more fear.
"You still seem too confused after what happened, but would you believe me if I told you that supernatural creatures exist in this world?", he asks, arching an eyebrow, and I nod quickly.
"That's not possible...", I whisper, watching him approach me again.
"It is possible, and that's the truth they've kept from you, Amelia. This world is not only shared by humans and animals; there is something in between.", He is kneeling in front of me to continue explaining more.
"I don't understand; if you are a man who can become a werewolf at night, what was my father?", I am feeling more and more confused here.
"A vampire.", he says as if he hates that word, and I turn away, denying it with my head.
"A vampire? My father was a vampire? That's impossible; he was completely human until the morning before; that's not possible...", I say, seeing that Tyler keeps looking at me.
"Exactly. He was and always has been human, but he became a vampire the night before, and he was thirsty for human blood, which is why he attacked you, Amelia.", Tyler says, touching my leg, and I still feel a little pain.
"So he was turned into a vampire by someone yesterday? How did that happen? Who did it? And I'm his daughter, and my father loves me; he would never try to kill me...", I whisper, crying, and Tyler nods.
"There are a lot of vampires scattered around this world, and I can't say who was responsible for doing this to your father, but bloodlust makes people lose control and hurt those they don't want to hurt. Your father didn't want to do that, but it was stronger than him, you know?".
I stay silent for a moment, just feeling the tears wetting my face. I put my hands over my face and kept crying, not believing it.
Furthermore, I just can't believe that I've always lived in a world where supernatural creatures have always lived, too. It's hard to believe that the person I love most in this world has become an immortal creature that can kill me if I get close to him.
Dad.
