Damien's P.O.V.
Roe had planned the evening to perfection. Almost. I may have gotten Alec to bring Jasmine as well so that I could get a seat with Roe. Jasmine, Amelia, Jace and Alec had the big sofa, Warren and Amy had the smaller one and we were sat on the floor. Jasmine and Amelia were sharing a tub of ice cream and the boys were eating the last of the pizza. We were watching the horror movie I had picked and I noticed that Amy was already hiding her face in Warrens chest, while he held her close and stroked her hair. Roe was gripping my arm tightly, her eyes wide. This was the second movie of the night and she had slowly been moving closer to me. I know she planned everything to help Warren and Amy get close, but did she realise it was working for us too? I could hear her heart thumping loudly.
Her breathing started to pick up and her grip on my arm tightened. I could smell the fear coming off her. Tearing my eyes away from her I looked at the TV to see what was scaring her so much. A scene came on and the teens found themselves locked in cells. s**t! I had been to absorbed in watching her that I wasn't paying attention. Roe was starting to panic. Maybe she was remembering something. s**t! Quickly I pulled her onto my lap and turned her face into my chest, my hand rubbing up and down her back soothingly.
"Lavender tea." Warrens voice came into my head. "With sugar."
"Has this happened before?" Goddess only knows what this could have triggered. What have I done to my precious Mate. I held her tighter. f**k I was such an i***t. I should have chosen a film that I had already watched.
"Twice." I nodded at him and whispered in her ear. f**k! I really should read that file.
"You're safe. No one can get you here." She was starting to shake so I slipped my arm under her knees and picked her up. Her arms wrapped around my neck and I carried her shaking body to the kitchen. Shifting her postion so her legs wrapped around my waist I made the tea with my free hand. Roe whimpered against me and held me tighter. What the f**k was she remembering? Sitting her down on the counter I moved to get a cup when she started muttering.
"No, no, no." Her voice was barely a whisper but the pain in her voice was so loud. I hurried back to her and held her face in my hands.
"Roe, look at me. You're not there. You're here, with me." Her breathing started to calm down. "You're here. You're with me. You're safe." I spoke gently as her eyes slowly focused on me.
"Damien?" She whispered. Silent tears spilled onto her cheeks only to be quickly wiped away by my thumbs. I kissed her forehead and pulled her close.
"You're safe with me. I won't let anything happen to you." I felt her hands press against my chest. As I pulled away she gripped my shirt tightly. "You have to let go or I can't finish making your tea." I smiled softly, watching her cheeks flush as she realised what she'd done. Abruptly she let go and stared at her hands while added the sugar to her tea. Hopping onto the counter next to her, I placed the mug in her hands as she mumbled a thanks. With each sip Roe seemed to relax more and more. She also leaned into my shoulder and I was more then happy to just sit there in the kitchen for the rest of the night with her. What had she remembered though? What the f**k do I do now?
Draining the mug, Roe jumped off the counter and placed it in the dishwasher.
"We should head back, I'm sure the film will have ended by now." She mumbled. She didn't seem herself at all.
"Are you sure?" I asked, getting down and walking towards her. As I took her hand in mine a small smile played on her lips.
"Besides we still have one more film to watch and it's a either a rom-com or a comedy." She shrugged and started leading me back to the living room. The guys were arguing over which film to watch with the girls. Warren of course said nothing but was clearly on his Mates side. Roe shook her head smiling more. She let go of my hand and decided for them. I sat back down in the same spot as before, leaned back, crossed my ankles and watched her swap the dvd's.
"Is she alright?" Alec asked in mind-linked and I shook my head. Whatever she remembered had clearly shook her, no matter how much she acted like it didn't. "She didn't tell you, did she?"
"No. But I didn't ask her either. I just hope she tells me when she's...." My link was interrupted when I saw that Roe was now stood in front of me lightly kicking my foot with a strange look on her face. "Why are you kicking me?" I asked as she unhooked my ankles, pushed my legs apart and sat herself down between them, pressing her back into my chest.
"You're sat on the comfy pillow and I'm not spending another movie on that one, so we're sharing." Liar. I had purposely made sure she had the comfiest pillow so she wouldn't get uncomfortable. She wanted to be close to me and I couldn't help but smile. I desperately wanted to wrap my arms around her but I didn't want to push my luck. My Mate was actively seeking me for comfort and right now I couldn't ask for more.
"Mates starting to need us" Demon was just as excited as me. With all that happened to her, the bits we knew about anyway, we didn't expect to get this close to her so quickly. It was tricky with human Mates as it was, never mind one who had been through so much. I just hoped it wouldn't all be for nothing when, or if, she starts remembering. The movie started and Roe began to relax into me. Her hand found mine and she absently played with my fingers sending those intoxicating sparks right through me.
Roe's P.O.V.
Laughter vibrated through my back as film set all of us off in a fit of giggles when I heard someone snort. I tried to turn around but Damien placed an arm around my waist stopping me. Was it him?
"Did you just snort?" I asked him. Trying not to laugh.
"No." He replied flatly. "Maybe it was you."
"Nope. I don't snort." I struggled to get out of his grip.
"Well maybe I can change that." I could hear the mischief in his voice. What did he mean by that? Suddenly, both his hands were on my waist and he began tickling me. I failed to escape his grip, but I didn't snort. He relented after a while and pulled me back into his chest, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head on mine. While I tried to get my breath back which was made impossible by the electricity that ran pleasantly through me where our skin touched. "I'll get you one day." He promised. My eyes rolled and I tried to focus on the movie.
Laying in bed I smiled at how my plan had worked for Warren. Amy was already smitten for him and now they were officially dating. They had even ended the night in a make-out session. Success. Despite how well he night had gone I couldn't sleep. I daren't sleep. I was terrified of having a nightmare or remembering more. I didn't want to remember. I was happy with what I have now. Friends who treat me like family, a good job, a lovely room and Dam...no I shouldn't think that about him. He was miles out of my league. Besides he didn't have time for someone like me. He deserved better. Though I think I'd definitely sleep better with him by my side. I buried my face into the pillow and groaned. Why did I have to think that!
