Chapter 4

Roe's P.O.V.

It was after lunch when I woke up the next day. I had no memory of getting to bed and since I was still in my work clothes I guess one of the boys brought me up. Those idiots. They were going to pay for last night. Groggily I changed into my pj's and put the splint on my wrist before heading downstairs. I hated those damn pills. They didn't even take the pain away, they just knocked me out and left me so tired the next day. I desperately needed caffeine to even pretend to be human today so I headed straight for the kitchen. Unfortunately it wasn't empty as I had hoped. Alec and Damien were sat at the breakfast bar, looking over some papers. Didn't they have an office to for that? Damien smiled. What was he so happy about? I just glared at them both. When Alec piped up.

"We're out of coffee." He refused to look at me, coward. Out of coffee, is he f*****g serious. Pricks. Damien's smile vanished and I caught his throat bob. Scowling I stomped towards the freezer. Great, now I'd have to go into town and deal with more people. I pulled out a tub of raspberry ripple ice cream. 

"You can't just have ice cream for lunch." Turning I saw Damien watching me, a serious look on his face. Was he seriously trying to play the parent right now? I walked right up to him and stared him down. Even sat down he was taller then me and looking in to his eyes was a mistake. He was so good looking , his eyes were the most amazing green and this close you could see flecks of gold in them. They were mesmerising. His hair was falling over his face as he looked down at me and I wanted nothing more then to run my fingers through it. Fingers traced my cheek leaving sparks across my skin. His eyes trailed down my face to my lips then back up to my eyes. Someone cleared their throat and I looked to see Warren watching us. I could feel the heat on my cheeks and I stepped away from Damien. I swear I heard a growl but before I could look back to him, Warren held out a coffee from my favourite cafe. He was a tall stoic man, with piercing blue eyes and blonde hair. I held the ice cream to my side with my splinted arm and took the coffee.

"Oh, I love you." I said dreamily as I stared at the cup and took a sip. Hazelnut latte. I sighed before looking back up at Warren "You on the other hand are just okay." He smiled shaking his head. He took the Ice cream from me, completely ignoring the glare I threw him and steered me towards the breakfast bar, making me sit next to Damien. "Thank you for the coffee, but if I want to eat ice cream I will." Warren just raised an eyebrow at me. Infuriating man. He was definitely a man of few words but I could read him like a book. Right now his look was berating me for my choice of lunch and telling me he would make me eat properly. "Fine." I grumbled and sipped my coffee.

Damien's leg brushed against mine as I ate the sandwich Warren had made me. I tried to ignore it but I couldn't because I wanted to touch more of him and I had no idea why. He was busy looking over the papers in front of him again. It didn't seem to bother him at all. Even after our close call earlier. I would forever be grateful to Warren for his perfect timing.

Damien's P.O.V.

My mate was sat so close to me that our legs were touching. I was trying and failing to focus on the paperwork in front of me but all I could think about was how we had nearly kissed. We, we had nearly kissed. There was hope even though she was human. I was sure she wanted to kiss me too but Warren had interrupted. And she listened to him. Why did she listen to him over her Mate? I used actual words at least. I asked Alec through the mind-link.

"Whats with though's two?" The irritation in my voice was evident. He straightened a stack of papers before moving on to the next.

"No idea. But for some reason they trust each other. All I managed to get out of Warren is that he feels the need to protect her. Don't question it Dude. Beside's we need someone who understands that neanderthal" He chuckled. He was right. I knew I could trust Warren, he was head warrior and I had known him all my life. But even I couldn't read him like Roe seemed to. "You get used to their silent conversations too." I looked over too them staring at each other, Roe's brow was furrowed while Warren had his usual blank expression. Suddenly Roe smiled.

"You've met a girl" She stated, excitement clear in her voice. Warrens eye's narrowed slightly. She gasped. "You really like her." She looked so cute when she was excited. But how did she know? Warren had never shown any interest in anyone and we all assumed he was just waiting for his Mate. Wait. Alec and I both looked at each other at the same time, wide eyed, before looking at Warren.

"Warren, have you found your Mate?" We both asked over mind-link. A simple yes was all were given in response.

"It's about time. I'm happy for you, dude." Alec clapped his shoulder. Warren glanced at us for a second before looking back at Roe who was shaking her head.

"Utter morons." She looked between me and Alec, disappointment clear on her face. "Can't you see this isn't easy for him." She reached her hand out towards Warren and he took it as he sighed. Why the f**k was he touching my Mate? A low growl vibrated in my chest. She was mine not his. Roe didn't seem to notice as she kept looking at Warren, her thumb rubbing circles on the back of his hand. I wanted to rip her away from his touch. I wanted her to reach out to touch me like that. A balled my hands into fists as I tried to contain my wolf. He was just as pissed as I was. Right then, when I nearly lost control, she unconsciously placed her right arm on my thigh and leaned a little closer to me. Gently I stroked her fingers, the sparks and her scent being so close helping to calm me. I knew I was being ridiculous. Even now with her attention on her someone else she wanted to be close to me. Her fingers linked with mine, it was awkward with the splint but it still felt so right. "You really shouldn't worry about that, you know. How could she not like you?" Alec shot me look saying he was just as confused as me. Was Warren really feeling self conscious? "Who is it?" She asks.

"Amy" I swear his voice shook saying her name. Knowing him he probably hadn't said it out loud before.

"Amy from Sybelle's Cafe?" Roe asked. Her eyes went wide again and she smiled brightly, giggling. "You definitely don't need to worry. She saw you waiting outside the cafe once and now she asks about you every time I see her." A smile tugged on his lips. She let go of his hand and pulled out her phone. She began typing smiling to herself before she looked at me. "Is it okay if I invite someone over?"

"Of course you don't have to ask for anything." I smiled at her. We were still holding hands and she hadn't noticed. She smiled back at me and I could see mischief in her eyes before she turned back to finish her text. What was she planning?

"In that case.." Her phone buzzed and she grinned at the three of us after checking it. "I'm telling you that we're having a movie night." She was practically bouncing on her seat and it was adorable. "Alec can you tell Jace and Amelia to be in the living room at 7? No excuses allowed. Warren, your on snack detail and Damien.." Goddess I loved how she said my name. She turned to look at me, her brow furrowing a little. "I know you have a lot of work to do..." I put my finger to her lips feeling the sparks and her soft pink lips that just wanted to taste. I'd do anything she asked me to. Ugh, she was turning me soft.

"What do you need me to do?" I could see the blush rising on her cheeks and her heart beat rising. Her hand slipped from my grip and she looked away, her cheeks getting hotter.

"Uhm...can you pick some films?" She stole a glance at me and I nodded, watching as she stood and walked out of the room. Then her head popped back in. "And make sure at least one is a horror." So that's what she had planned. I looked at Alec, the grin on his face said he had the same idea as me. This was going to be fun.
