"Fresh fruits from Casa Grande Farmland!"

"This is a new arrival! Come, check how high quality this is."

"One kilogram of rice, please."

Nosy crowd and sellers are all around the corner. She went down on her horse and made her way to where her house is standing. Her house looks the same. She went inside and to her horror, the house looks like it is well-maintained and very clean. There's no hint of dust and cobwebs in each corner of the house.

"It's good to see you back, Brigadier General Domenico." Alyxia wasn't shocked when former Major General Aligate who is now the Second Lieutenant General came out of nowhere.

"This is trespassing if you aren't aware, Second Lieutenant General," Alyxia said while putting her bag on the table.

The man burst out with a loud laugh. "You are informed? I thought you have forgotten about me."

Alyxia shrugged before sitting on her couch, inviting the said second lieutenant general but he resisted.

"The governor wants to see you right away," he said instead.

"I'm on leave. Tell him I'm on vacation."

"But he already knows you arrived a moment ago."

Alyxia threw him her cold stare. Rolling her eyes heavenward, three men went inside to inform her that Governor Stephen will come here if she doesn't want to go to his office.

"How rude. I just arrived and didn't have the chance to relax."

But Alyxia went to the governor's office after complaining.

She was welcomed by the governor's warm smile and hug. She didn't move to hug him back.

"I am so glad to see you back, Aly," said the governor wearing his delighted face.

"Let's cut to the chase. What are you going to say?" she asked directly. She can't wait to visit her father.

"Sit down. Mary, get us some tea," the governor ordered his maid.

Alyxia sat on the single couch, facing the governor who is now sitting in front of her.

"I want to congratulate you for your past successful expeditions at North and West Area."

"Save that. Direct to the point, governor. I have things to do after this," Alyxia said impatiently while watching the maid serve them some tea.

"Alright. I know you just came back and are probably tired. I just want to know if you are willing to accept the title of the Prime Lieutenant Governor of Hailbough Town without being promoted to Elite Officials or Royal Ministers."

"I am more than willing."

"Then I want you to lead the next expedition at East Area before you proceed to Hailfrost Kingdom, South Area."

Alyxia got confused. Why does she need to go to South Area when there's no big threat in their world? South Area serves as the main headquarters of all the military organizations. Officials and members were gathered there to plan for any incoming life-threatening crisis.

"Why do I need to go to South Area? There will be no next expedition for me since I returned my unit to Lieutenant General in the meantime," she explained before sipping on her tea.

"There will be no vacation, Aly. Investigator Thaliah and Forerunner Jason have already submitted their reports. According to the intel of the Shadow Knights of Division Eight, the next demon invasion will be four to five years from now."

"What!?"

The governor stood up to give her a folder. She scanned the reports only to find that three portals will be opened soon if they won't prevent it. Low-class demons lurk in the outskirt areas of the East Area and now some were seen to be heading at each continent of the world.

"If you become the Prime Lieutenant Governor of Hailbough Town, you are automatically promoted to be the next Supreme Lieutenant of Supreme Division."

Her lips parted after hearing his words. The governor is acting recklessly. It means that this next demon's invasion will cause a big crisis in their world. She can't just be promoted as the new Supreme Lieutenant when she's not promoted to Royal Minister. Plus she is honored to be his right hand and next successor. Becoming the Prime Lieutenant Governor of Hailbough Town is already a big responsibility. What more if she becomes the next Supreme Lieutenant of the Supreme Division?

"You want me to lead the expedition to meet the Survey Corps of Division Two at East Area, right? I heard that your Supreme Army of Division One came back, losing almost half of them." She gave him a warning look. She doesn't want to risk her life if it is a reckless decision. She has already faced death before but it doesn't mean she is going to face death again.

The governor wants to hide the fact that the military organizations are facing a crisis now. They need to gather skilled, wise, and talented leaders to re-elect new leaders of each division of each military organization. After all, it will take time to prepare for the next demon's invasion while closing the portals.

"How did you know about that?" he asked confusedly.

"I am not a Brigadier General for nothing," she said mockingly. Alyxia stood up and put the folder on the side table. "Now that you have mentioned my promotional title, I realized that you are giving me the honor to be your next successor for me to be part of the Supreme Division. What are you trying to do? Your armies are good but how did they end up losing almost half of them after preventing the opening of the portal in the South Area? That's how powerful the demons we are about to face?"

Alyxia is not a Brigadier General for nothing. Yes. She has access to exclusive information and data. After her last three expeditions, she gained the trust of many officials and elite members. That's why she has a wide connection.

Governor Stephen felt the urge to tell her that there is a traitor in their organization. That's why they need to re-elect new leaders before they destroy their plan for the preparation of the next demon's invasion. But he remained silent about it. He doesn't know why the traitor wants the organizations to fail if their only enemy is demons.

"If you still have trust in me then you won't question my decisions," the governor said in his sad tone. "I know you are still suspecting me for what happened to your father but I swear to death, I will never betray a friend who has been there on my darkest days. Your father is an honorable man. But how can I change your mind if you're already blocking me? Trust me, Aly. Just this once and I will prove to you that I am innocent," he pleaded.

She has a list of the possible officials who might have a speck of dirt on her father. But since she has no evidence, the investigation will go on. Plus the only thing that pushes her to suspect his father's death is her instinct. It's too skeptical for her since her father is a skilled demon hunter.

Now that she is looking at the governor's sad face, she remembered those days when they are both laughing with each other. She can't just ignore him not because he is the governor but because he also becomes her second father. Alyxia heaved a sigh, a sign of defeat before her expression soften.

"I will be doing this for the sake of our bond before. After all, I know you've treated me as your godchild. This is not a matter of me trusting you again, governor. I will do this for the sake of this world," she said with finality.

Alyxia was expected to lead the next expedition in East Area. They will be camping between Eastern Monarchy and Eastern Metropolis to annihilate demons who were lurking out in these areas and also their main goal is to prevent the successful opening of the three portals until they meet up with the Survey Corps under Division Two of Supreme Division.

"These are the hunters I've prepared for you," the governor introduced his chosen hunters—selected members from five divisions of the Military Hierarchy.

She familiarized their faces. All in all, she will be leading twenty-five people. They stood in front of her as if their life depends on Alyxia.

"I selected five people from each division." He pointed out the first five people who were then asked to step out to greet her. "These are members of the first division."

Alyxia can't help but roll her eyes. "I think it's better if I pick my unit," she whispered to herself. She can tell that these people are all skilled. But because she let the Lieutenant General handle her unit, she'll be leading this new unit instead.

There are five divisions under Military Hierarchy. The first division and second divisions are under the leadership of Royal Ministers. The third division and fourth divisions are under the leadership of Elite Officials. And lastly, the fifth division is under the leadership of Military Officers.

"I am Colonel Katara Yunzhu of Royal Ministers. This is my team. We are the Royal Martials of Division One of Military Hierarchy," the colonel introduced her members.

Alyxia gave the governor her confused look. She can't lead these people, that's what she thinks.

"Why are there higher-ranked officials here?" Alyxia whispered to the governor while eyeing them.

"You are the next governor of Hailbough Town. Understandably, you will be their future leader despite your rank today in Military Hierarchy," he whispered too.

"Pardon?"

"This expedition is dangerous. You are about to prevent the successful opening of the three portals in the East Area. So I picked the best hunters to be part of your unit."

She was taken aback by his words. She's not expecting this expedition to be dangerous. But if the governor is serious about this then she should consider this. Her past expeditions were all successful and the level of danger is not high. But this one is on another level.

Alyxia faked a cough and stood straight in front of the remaining twenty people. She gave them her stern look. "Please, introduce yourselves," now she sounds strict.

The remaining members introduced themselves. The second five people are members of the Royal Alchemists of Division Two, a sub-unit of Colonel Katara Yunzhu.

"I am Brigadier General Qyn Vange of Elite Officials, leading the Elite Matador of Division Three," now the Brigadier General of the third five people introduced her members. She also added that she was assigned to handle the Elite Lancers of Division Four, which is the fourth five people, for this expedition.

Alyxia nodded. Now her gaze was then fixed on the last five people. She knows them because they are members of Black Hunters of Division Five under Military Officers. She smiled at them showing the deep dimple on her right cheek and they all smiled back at her.

"I know you. You are Corporal Becket Alvion," she acknowledged their leader.

"It's an honor to be part of your expedition, Aly. We hope to assist you and give our best for this expedition to be successful," the corporal replied merrily.

Alyxia chuckled. They have worked together before and she has assisted them in one of their mission in Wind Valley, North Area. She's a strict leader but every member of the Military Officers respects her so much. Members of other divisions suddenly felt jealous of them. They have heard a lot about Alyxia that meeting her right here feels like a queen is standing before them.

"This expedition will last for at least one year and three months. I have already planned everything. We will be camping at the boundary between Eastern Monarchy and Eastern Metropolis. We will discuss the rest after we secure our camp," Alyxia explained after the brief introduction while looking at them individually.

Every one of them shows a hard expression as if a boulder were about to hit them. "Did you get me?" asked Alyxia.

"YES, MA'AM!!"

Automatically, her eyes rolled heavenward.

"Address me Aly or Alyxia. That's an order."

"YES, MA'AM!!"

The governor burst a loud laugh. He knows how much she hates that. She showed him her displeased reaction. But instead of correcting them again, she asked them to get on their horse because they'll be leaving any moment now.
