Chapter 6

Arushi

What just happened? It was just an act but I was wishing for him to say that to me for real, I really wanted him to take me to the beach. Throw water at me feel my wet body, touch every part of them. Caress my lips and kiss me.

This feeling is real and so new for me. maybe I am really attracted to him because of his masculinity, his personality, his bright face, and his hard chest. What has happened to me I can't be this weak. I have promised Aditi to stay away from him and I have to stay away. I can't be weak. After so long I have felt what a family feels like but now I can't ask for more. I am afraid if I do that God will snatch everything from me again.

The next day was Aditi's engagement and still, there was no sign of my mom. I was optimistic that I will surely get my answers in the engagement when the people from the whole town gather to celebrate it.

The engagement night came, I helped Aditi to get ready. All the servants of the house were busy decorating it and Aditi was looking beautiful of all.

"Arushi, the guest will come soon, Why you aren't ready yet?", Mr. Shahi said entering the room. Actually, I was so busy with the decorations and Aditi that I forgot to get myself ready.

"Don't worry dad, I will get ready in five minutes", I said running to my room. There was a beautiful red Sari infront of me, and there was a note

"For my daughter", tears ran through my eyes when I read it. I never felt so loved before. Dad used to love me so much that I almost forget about finding my mom. My motive to find her was getting less with the increase in the attention I was getting but still, I kept the picture of my mom in the purse and wore the sari. It was dad's choice perfectly fit for me.

It was almost time for Tejwa's family to come and the crowd downstairs was increasing too. Finally, the time came and Tejwa's family was there including Stanley looking perfect as ever. I skipped my breathe when I saw him and remembered the previous day when we almost kissed.

His eyes were looking at me too but this time there was no anger in them. Chaya was nowhere that meant she must have returned to her hometown and Tanya was looking very beautiful just like her brother. Saurav was wearing suit pants and was looking like a gentleman in glasses. Everything was perfect there, all of the crowd were praising Aditi's beauty and Saurav's success. The DJ played the music and along with that Aditi and Saurav were forced to dance. That was so beautiful, escaping everybody's eyes I started my mission to find my mother. I went from groups to groups but I couldn't see my mom on any of them. I was hopeless and anxious when someone patted me from behind.

"Yes", I said turning around he was Stanley in a suit looking at me with his penetrating eye.

"Everyone is enjoying the music. What are you doing here alone?"

"I came here to see if the guests are enjoying the party?"

"Really, I don't know about others but I am bored"

"See this is an engagement party and stripers aren't allowed here that could be the reason that this is boring for you"

"No, the reason is infront of me. When a beautiful single girl like you roam around here and there instead of dancing it is going to be boring itself"

"then what do you want me to do dance at the middle?"

"No, I want you to dance with me", said he taking his hand out for me, "will you dance with me?"

That moment was just magical his hand infront of me, head bowed a little and the music was romantic as hell. The most handsome man in Pune was asking me to dance with him. How could I not be happy?

I lend him my hand and he pulled me toward the stage. Our eyes were staring at eachother. His hand was wrapped around my waist. he was pulling me closer to himself and was making me flow with him. I forgot Where I was and what was I doing I just flowed with him in the rhythm and with the burst of hormones inside me.

Our dance stopped when the music went down and the lights were brighter again. I just wanted the dance to continue but it was time to exchange the ring. Mr. Shahi came toward me

"Have you seen Aditi anywhere Aruhsi?"

"wasn't she dancing with Saurav"

"she was but not now. I asked everyone but no one has seen her"

"Don't worry dad, I will go and search for her", I said running here and there at the party. Searching for her went outside the house in the garden. Aditi was talking with someone there, I went toward her and when I was infront of her I saw that person who I never expected to see, Aditi was talking to a girl who exactly looked like my mom in the picture. the same face, same eyes, the same nose she wasn't middle-aged like I expected she seemed to be of mine age.

No, she can't be my mother. Maybe she was a doppelganger of her. But so many similarities. I never saw anything like that. Maybe in amusement I stared at her for long,

"Arushi, What happened to you?", Aditi jerked me up.

"Nothing just, Won't you introduce me to your friend", I mustered up some courage.

"I almost forgot, She is Bella, I met her previous year at a party. After knowing about my engagement she came here to meet me", said Aditi smiling at her.

"Okay, Aditi. I have to go now. I just came here to see you"

"That meant a lot to me, but please atleast come inside and meet my dad"

"Not now, Aditi", she kept her hand in her cheek as if they were too close to each other, "I will try to visit you at your wedding", said she and went from there. I kept on staring at her. The feeling when you finally see the person you were searching for for ages but cannot do anything about it. That was my condition then.

"Arushi, What happened to you?", she jerked me again

"You never talked about Bella to me"

"She is just a friend and this is the second time we have met. So that was never an important topic to talk about"

"But you seemed pretty close to her"

"She came from another town just to see me on my engagement, I wanted to make her feel important"

"Isn't it weird"

"It is, and do you the what was weirdest she gave me this", Aditi grabbed a bangle from her purse. It was very beautiful and was made up of gold and diamonds.

"It must be expensive", I gasped in surprise

"I am saying that too. It must be expensive and she gave it to me without any hesitation. It only means one thing either she is very rich or psycho.

Except for that weirdness that bangle was weirdly familiar. It felt like Deja-vu when I saw it.

"Can I have that for a minute", I said. I had to confirm something

"Sure, anyway I don’t want it". I took the bangle from her and ran toward the hallway.

"Arushi, What happened to you?", Stanley was shocked at my behavior.

"Not now", I said and headed toward the washroom. There I grabbed the picture of my mom from the purse and to my alas there was the same bangle on my mom's hand. Same color, same design, and the weird thing was the person's appearance who own that was also same. What was that? That incident left me with more questions about my mom. I didn't know what to believe the one infront of my eyes or the one that my heart said. If Bella was my mother then why didn't she aged even a bit since she captured the photo with me 23 years ago,

I fell down on the floor in agony. In the process of finding my mom, I was trapped in a maze. Suddenly a sound of clap showered from the hallway may be the engagement was done successfully.

After coming this far I can lose hope, I have to stay strong for Aditi, for dad, and for my mom.

Collecting myself I went to the hallway.

"Arushi, where were you in the important moment", Mr. Shah said coming toward me

"I am sorry dad, I just felt a little dizzy so I went to the washroom"

"Dizzy, Are you okay?"

"I am okay now dad, you don't have to worry. Anyway, it’s the time for celebration", I forced laughter in my face and moved my body with the rhythm. Seeing me like that dad was at ease and he also moved to the side and let me have my space. dancing among everyone I traced my way to Stanley who was looking at me and offered him my hand. He accepted that without hesitation.

"Arushi wanting to dance with me, You must have been affected by my charm too. No girl could escape that", said he

"Just shut up and listen to me. I need your help"

"And why would I do that?"

"Did you forgot? That day to lure Chaya away you promised that you will help me once"

"I thought you forgot that"

"I never forget that kind of things"

"What I have to do?", we were moving our body along with each other with his hands on my waist and my hands-on shoulder

"You have to find all the information about a person for me"

"What? You want me to stalk someone"

"kind of that"

"You are not that innocent as you look"

"I have to do it Stanly and I know you can help me."

"I can do that but who I have to stalk"

"Her name is Bella, and I have a picture of her other than that I know nothing about her", He grabbed his hand from my shoulder and laid against the wall thinking for awhile

"Just a photo and a name will be hard but it will be done"

"Thank you, Stanley. You don't have an idea what you are helping me with"

"I don't want to know but this will be the first and last time that I am doing a favor for you"

"Okay, This will be the last time I am asking you for anything"

"Keep that in mind", said he and walked outside.

He was weird, everything about him was weird. Sometimes he used to make me feel as if I meant something to him and just a minute after nothing, he made me feel like I was a stranger. Anyway, the relation between him and me was only limited to finding Bella other than that it is better for me to stay away.
