Chapter 3

476 Words
These girls...they have a fire in them. They weren't necessarily strong physically, but just like the song says, ‘what doesn't kill you makes you stronger’... They were exactly what I was looking for. Sure, they were rough around the edges, but that could be worked with. Not fixed, never fixed. You can't fix someone, you can only help them continue on and make them stronger than they've ever been. “Who is the leader here?” I questioned, because I knew that in order to keep that fire lit, they needed someone who could keep them strong. “Me.” One of them spoke up, and by the group’s reaction, I knew she wasn't lying. They were obviously trying to keep her hidden behind them and didn't like that she had willingly given herself up so easily. “Name,” I commanded.  “Your’s first.” She spat back.  “Which one?” “All of ‘um.” I smiled, knowing she didn't know what she was asking. She didn't realize that anything that ended up coming out of my mouth wasn't my actual name, but they'll learn, they'll learn.  “I go by many names, but the three that I prefer are Queen, Crimson Rose, and Alpha.” They went silent, most likely because they either recognized one of my aliases or were afraid of my strong, authoritative tone. “And you are?” I pushed.  “Kat-Katherine.” She stuttered. “Well, Katherine. How would you and your entourage like to have a job?” “A job?” She asked, surprised with where the conversation was going, most likely she thought that they were going to die. “Yes, as in you get money for working, for me of course.” They were speechless. They were also most likely suspicious, curious, but also slightly hopeful, for the ones that let themselves hope for a better future.  “A princess position has just opened up, and I would like you, Kat, to take the position.” I continued, using the opportunity to get rid of an unloyal subject. All of my girls had a knowing look on their faces. They knew that, yes, you could leave, if you truly wanted to, while people rarely did, but if you were to spill confidential information… You obviously lose your position, but also die a very, very painful way, which varies for each case and how pissed I am at that moment.  But there was one girl who didn't have the exact same look, her’s was a bit confused, a little scared with as to where this conversation was going, and just done right suspicious, even though she was obviously trying to hide all this with her look of ‘knowing’ that everyone else had.
