Broken Wolf, Unbroken Luna

Alexis POV It's crazy to think about how our lives have changed and just over a few months. I know I never thought I would become the person I am now. None of us expected the path we have been sent on, but I guess to understand I need to start at the beginning. (6 months ago) My best friend Rhae and I were hanging out with my parents just watching television. I met Rhae when we were seven, we realized we had the same birthday and because of that we became fast friends. We were seventeen so we haven't shifted into our wolves yet, that is something you can only do when you turn eighteen. We turn eighteen in a week. I can't wait to meet my wolf. Our parents get together every year so we can celebrate together. For our eighteenth birthday they were planning on just a small get together for us, just a few friends and family. We would shift at midnight. We are from a very small pack, nothing fancy as we live in poverty, but we all make it work. There is only about a hundred of us in this pack, we grow our own food and get our meat by hunting as our wolves. We don't have very many warriors because of our pack size so we weren't prepared for what was happening. "Lex I'm sorry we are meeting like this, but there is trouble coming." I heard the voice in my head. Could this be my wolf speaking? " Yes girl I'm your wolf. My name is Aura." "OK. I didn't think you appeared until I was 18." I stated. "True, however this is a special circumstance. I need to prepare you. Rhae's wolf Zepher is speaking with her as well." Aura said. "Whoa Rhae has hers too? Very cool." I was interrupted by sounds from outside. Dad went running to check what was happening. Telling us to stay with my mom. "Lex listen. Things are about to change quickly for the two of you. No matter what, you guys have to stay together." Aura continued telling me as we waited for my dad to return. "Aura what are you talking about?" I was getting nervous. Dad comes running back in yelling that rogues were attacking. Mom takes off after dad where he starts heading back toward the front door. We could hear screaming. Just as I'm about to reach the front door my mom comes bursting in. Her eyes full of fear and blood on her shirt. "Alexis, Rhae. You guys need to run. Get out of here as fast as you can, find a place to hide. You need to get as far away as you can and whatever you do, don't look back." mom spoke quietly as wolves have wonderful hearing. Rhae and I didn't waste time we took off to the back door. Before I opened it I pushed back the curtains and looked out scanning for any sign of rogues. Aura coming so soon was able to give me the wolf sight and hearing I would need. I opened the door slowly, Rhae and I look out and took off toward the woods. We didn't stop and we don't look back. We ran a long time not knowing where we would go just ran until we couldn't run anymore. "Do you think we are safe for now?" Rhae asked me. "I'm not sure, but let's at least keep walking." I replied. "You guys are far enough away. I don't sense any danger here." Aura tells me. "Aura, what if the rogues come this way. I'm sure they will catch our scent." feeling very concerned about how Rhae and I will handle ourselves if we do end up coming across a rogue. "They won't smell you. Zepher and I masked your scents when we fled." We finally came across a small run down shack. We could take shelter there for awhile until we figured out what to do next. We needed to rest and regain our strength before we did anything else. How would we eat we have no idea how far away we were from home. Could we even go back home. We are on our own for now and no way of knowing what happened with our families or how we were going to survive. Chase's POV I've been traveling by foot staying out of sight the best I could. I'm seventeen and I've been on my own for about a week now. My pack was ambushed by rogues. We were caught off guard, I was the only survivor. I lost my friends, my family, and my entire pack. I'm not sure how the rogues managed to get the upper hand. We were a strong pack, but they had more wolves then we did. In all honesty, I believe someone hired a bunch of rogues to take us out. We haven't been the only ones to be attacked. I am an alpha's son, once I turn eighteen I would have taken over. Only reason I'm alive is because my father had sent me to the next town over to do some investigating. That pack was attacked as well and we needed information. I came home after finding nothing in the pack no survivors or clues. As I approached my pack I could see the wolves fighting, but falling quickly. I didn't have my wolf yet so there was no way for me to help. I saw my father running toward me and told me to run. I'm an alpha I didn't want to leave my pack. There was nothing I could do though and my father used is Alpha voice to make me leave. "Chase, I'm sorry this happened. " my wolf Carson said. After my father ordered me away I started hearing him. Normally our wolf doesn't come until we turn 18. At least I could talk to him and wasn't as alone. I tried looking at other territories, but they seemed to be all gone as well. "Stop! Someone is coming. " Carson warned. "From where? Do you sense danger?" I asked "I'm not sure. I haven't caught a smell yet. I can just hear them." "Them? More than one, thats not good, we haven't shifted yet." I stated. "I know stupid, just keep quiet." Carson is always calling me names. He thinks it's funny. Suddenly I could hear them whispering. I couldn't tell how many there were from my hiding spot. All I could think was that I hope they aren't rogues. They were getting closer and I could hear what they were saying. "We have to keep going. We can't stop." "Do you smell that? the woman asked. I could see them clearly now. They were older maybe early sixties, but hard to tell as we all look younger then we really are. They were holding a small girl. What had made them come this far away from anywhere. "Please don't be scared. Come out and talk, we were attacked by rogues and on the run. My name is Jim Harris, this is my mate Ann, and our granddaughter Lily. Her parents were killed by the rogues." Jim said. "Hello, my name is Chase Quinn." I introduced myself while coming out of hiding. "Hi Chase, are you alone?" Jim asked "Yes, I am. My pack was attacked by rogues. I've been running for a week now." I explained. "You are of Alpha blood." Ann stated rather then question. "How could you tell?" I asked her. "Your aura is very strong, although it seems you have not shifted yet. Is that correct?" Jim wanted to know. "I will shift tomorrow as I will be 18 then." I clarified. " We need to find a place to hideout. You need a safe place to shift into your wolf. You also need to rest so you have strength to shift. Do you have any spare clothes or anything?" asked Ann. " I honestly haven't thought about all that. I agree we should find a place to hold up at for some time." I said. We all decided it would be best to just stay together. We were headed the same direction anyway. I wanted to find any place where we could sleep. Lily was already getting heavy eyes. The Harris's told me she was only three, she won't remember much of the attacks like the rest of us. They said they were coming back from vacation when the attack happened. Their daughter was in the kitchen dead while Lily was hiding in her bedroom closet. Mr. Harris and I talked more about all the rogue attacks. I know of five packs that have been destroyed including mine and the Harris's packs. I had been investigating three others. I told Mr. Harris my theory on the attacks. We both thought them being hired could be the only answer to all the attacks.
