“And what if I did? Have a problem?” Ryzen said. Mariposa gave him a smirk then said. “I just wanted to know if my senses were wrong coz when that happens that ninja over there is a far way bigger threat than the demon I was chasing” Mariposa seriously asked as he gave Luis a glare. “Oh dear, looks like the instructor of the marksmen is afraid of a boosted assassin.” “If I were you, I’d be more terrified of the actual assassin who possesses elemental magic.” “Remember that same affinity cancels out the other” Ryzen warned then they took their leave. Mariposa started thinking who that assassin could possibly be and how big of a threat he is. She then took off and headed to the academy. Upon arriving she senses something. Then her explorative expression on her face changes into anger. With a clenched fist she headed to the ladies’ building. She waited on the bench outside Sora’s bedroom. After several minutes of waiting, she stood up then entered Sora’s bedroom. She sat on the couch and waited for Sora to exit the bathroom. “Your mother’s dead,” Mariposa said as soon as their eyes met. “I know, I saw everything.” “Mom was being strangled by a sludge monster or something” Sora said as she headed to her closet. “A sludge monster you say?” Mariposa said as she stood up then walked towards Sora. “You took a shower correct?” Mariposa said as she combs Sora’s hair using her fingers. She then sniffs Sora’s neck and spoke. “But you still reek with the same stench.” “I wonder where you could have acquired such odor. How unfeminine” Mariposa said. Sora immediately looked back, but Mariposa already left. At the men’s building Draxx is lying down. “Oh, Madam why do you have to give me a task like that.” “Now it’s me and Sora against them.” “Hey Kirin, you there?” Draxx said. “Yes master?” Kirin reacted as he manifests in his worldly state. “Kirin is there a chance that you’ll turn against me?” Draxx worriedly asked. “I could,” Kirin said seriously. Draxx felt down with a sorry look in his face. “But I won’t. Right from the start we are destined to one another” “Father creates many routes that lead to one ending, but you are the one going to choose which path to take.” “Your journey doesn’t end here coz you are only a few steps away from where you have started” Kirin said. “Thank you” Draxx said then they remained silent for a while then Draxx asked. “Kirin, I am just curious how you manifest with me not summoning you? “Isn’t there a seal that hinders you from stepping on this world?” Draxx as to clarify things. “No divine beast can free entities that use the surrounding mana to take form.” “The more mana in the surroundings the faster we take form.” “We vary in different forms and sizes depending on how much mana we harness,” Kirin informed. “I see. How much mana do you need before you take form?” Draxx asked. “I need tons of mana and the heavenly trait,” Kirin said. “Heavenly trait?” Draxx cluelessly asked “A trait that Father bestowed upon his angles.” “There are seven which are unique from one another” “These traits determine who are going to be the Archangels” Kirin said “So that means I possess one trait?” “What is it actually?” Draxx asked. “Simple, you have the composure of my master.” “Archangel Zadkiel” “I told you everything has a path to choose and the route you took led to me. Out of all the people who transverse that path, you showed splendid self-control.” “You are truly my master” Morning, and a week has passed since the tragedy at the Power’s restaurant. Sora was heading to the cafeteria, but she has this feeling that she is being watched. “Just ignore her Sora don’t let her get into your head.” “She’s just toying with you,” Sora said to herself. “Good morning Ms.” The students greeted. “Well, good morning to all of you” Sora greeted back. “Looks like someone woke up on the right side of the bed,” Draxx said as he met Sora in the hall. “Good morning to you too,” Draxx said as he looked from a distance. Sora looks back to check who Draxx greeted. Her pleasant smile turns into an obnoxious frown. She rolled her eyes then said. “I’m heading in” with a forceful smile on her face. “Good morning Draxx” Mariposa said as she approaches Draxx “So, how’s training?” Mariposa asked as she stepped to the side of the hall. “We haven’t started yet.” “I tend to Madam’s funeral together with Sora” Draxx informed “You really are devoted to her,” Mariposa reacted. Draxx just laughed then said. “We should enter because I am starving.” “I need the energy for my training later” Draxx said. “Shall we?” Draxx said as he offered the way. Mariposa entered first followed by Draxx. They sat on the instructors’ table and waited for the food. “So, Sora what are your plans about the restaurant?” “Now that Madam is gone who’s going to run it?” Draxx seriously asked. “About that I haven’t thought of it yet.” “Maybe let the staves take charge,” Sora said. “You should focus on that Sora.” “It would be such a waste if your family business closes. Remember all the hard work you and your family poured into that business”. “I am going to miss that banquet every time we pay you guys a visit” Mariposa said. “And remember the time that you wore an elegant dress to impress someone. “Never seen you wear a thing like that over the previous years” Draxx teased. “Huh?” Sora reacted. “Never mind” Draxx said. Their conversation keeps on going until Draxx and Mariposa finish their breakfast. “You sure eat a lot” Sora said to Draxx “Yeah, because I need to store a lot of energy for today’s training,” Draxx said. Kirin then manifests to his worldly form. Draxx immediately mounts him then says. “So, I’ll see you guys later. Ciao” then they took off. “Don’t think that I am fine with you here around” Mariposa said but already took off. “Looks the b***h finally decided to ignore me” Mariposa said then she took off. “Looks like the two ladies have a grudge on each other,” Ryzen said as he seeks out the corner. Draxx and Kirin finally reach the wasteland. “Alright Kirin I think we can let it all out here.” “By the looks of it, there isn’t a living thing here.” “We can surely let it all out without thinking of the consequences” Draxx shouted. “You seem pumped today Draxx. Why so?” Kirin asked. “I don’t know why exactly but” Draxx did not finish what he was about to say because Kirin interrupted him. “Someone’s coming,” Kirin said as he looked up at the sky. Draxx looked for a place to hide but he was clearly in the open. He just braces himself for whatever happens. Then someone shoots out from the sky. “Kirin lets go,” Draxx said as he quickly mounted Kirin. They chase down whoever was that. With Kirin’s unparalleled speed they manage to overtake “Stop!” Draxx shouted then thunder roared. “Draxx!” Mariposa said. “Mariposa? Is that you?” Draxx reacted. “What the hell are you doing here?” Mariposa said as she approached him. “No, What the hell are you doing here” Draxx returned the question. “I ask first,” Mariposa said. “Kirin and I were about to start training until Kirin sensed someone coming.” “We didn’t expect it to be you.” “And you?” Draxx said. “Well, I was heading to my previous town.” “I just want to loosen up a bit because I feel so tense,” Mariposa said. “Kirin, how about we tag along for a bit until the day is still young. Maybe we could go with her and check the town she’s talking about,” Draxx said. “Whatever you wish, master” Draxx said. “You are coming or what?” Mariposa said as she passes Draxx Kirin then trails her. Mariposa led them to a field full of craters. “Here we are,” Mariposa said, followed by a deep breath. “What happened here?” Draxx concernedly asked. “Don’t act dumb, I know that Chris already told what happened here.” “But if you really forgot then I forgive you.” “This was the actual location of the town where I used to live. Then demons started invading the city when Elder and Chris are busy chatting” “We were helpless and most of our fighters were killed already.” “Then everyone in the village was swallowed by the ground. When we popped back out burning rocks were falling from the sky that destroyed our city” Mariposa casually said “I’m sorry,” Draxx said. “No need to be sorry.” “Chris made the right decision. A city can be rebuilt but a life that is loose can’t be brought back to life” Mariposa said. “For someone with no formal education you sure have words of wisdom” Draxx said. “Who needs to learn about science and stuff when you live in a middle of nowhere where resources are limited.” “Dude just so you know we hunt down demons to trade their carcass to the nearby city in the mountains” Mariposa said. “Sorry” Draxx said “Dude stop apologizing for something you didn’t do.” “The word seems meaningless because of people like you.” Mariposa said. Draxx just giggled.
