Awakening: Episode 40

The angel and Tyrone are soaring around the battlefield then Tyrone notices something. Something off. "Say, where are some angels slacking?" "They are just standing there doing nothing? Shouldn't they help the others win the war?" Tyrone asked as he counts the number of angels not doing anything "You see, unlike you humans angels and our derivatives the demons don't have much free will of our own." "Most of the time we just follow commands that were instructed to us" "Those angels you see that are not doing anything maybe they already successfully did their tasks or they were assigned to remain in standby" the angel said as he points out a group of standby angels "What I meant was, instead of loafing around I think it is best to make use of their time" Tyrone said "But those were not the instructions given to us" "We are just following orders" the angel said "If I had the power to dictate orders to all of you, I would order you all to charge forward since the demons are also loafing around" "It is best to take advantage of the current situation. We would definitely take them all down by surprise" Tyrone confidently said "If that is what you wish" the angel said then fires a ball of fire into the sky. The ball of fire made a huge explosion marking the beginning of the onslaught. All nearby angels rallied up and joined the main battalion. Tyrone had this huge smile on his face seeing the huge number of angels but it was immediately wiped off his face the moment the undead rose from the ground. The demons that he assumed to be slacking were able to defend themselves. The total chaos of the battlefield completely turned the tables against them. Angels fall one by one due to lack of preparation of the ambush. Some angels don't have the strength to defend themselves since they didn't get a decent amount of rest since they were instructed to take up arms and battle. The horrified look on Tyrone's face also added to the angel's downfall. To think their commander is faltering which causes the angel to lose their morale. "What now?" the angel said in an awfully calm yet disturbing tone. "I don't know" "So many lives were lost because of my foolishness" "I was too hasty in making that decision" Tyrone apologizes "So, what now? Shouldn't I be winning a war?" the angel said giving Tyrone a slight confidence boost. "You're right" Tyrone said with fiery eyes. Tyrone with the help of the angel manages to even out the battle resulting in a stalemate. "Ah!" Tyrone sighs in relief. ------------------------------------------ "Everyone Tyrone is breathing" a female student shouted. Everyone immediately rallies to go check on him. "Shsss, he is waking up" another student said. Tyrone slowly opened his eyes and immediately everyone burst into tears. "Thank God you are alive" Sarah said as he hugged Tyrone tight. "Where am I?" Tyrone asked while holding his head. "Does your head hurt? I should heal you up this instance" Sarah said in an awfully protective manner. "Okay guys we are done here" "Let us leave these two love birds to get some alone time" Maximus said as he wrestled the other students out of there. "You dummy, look at you passing out on them" "You really made me nervous, you know that" Sarah ranted "I'm sorry" Tyrone apologized. "It's fine as long as you're safe" Sarah said. ------------------------------------------ Dean, Samantha and the remaining survivors finally arrived at the Metro's borders. The look of hope in there eyes were truly priceless. They slowly head forward, towards the city with their guards up. "Mages, if you sensed anything please let anyone know" Dean said A strange wind then brewed and a hoard of demons filled the sky. "Mages positions" "Prepare to fire when targets are within range" Dean instructed Mages with different elemental magic started channeling their skills. One by one they unleashed it depending on the area of effect of their skills. Demons dropped from the sky faster than what they were expecting. "Huh, strange" a thought inside Dean's head The group continued their way to the city. It was awfully deserted. The area is completely abandoned and was set into ruins. "Looks like they too were attacked" "I wonder, where could they have went?" a thought inside Dean's head They were nearing the entrance only to see a city infested with demons. "Everyone retreat" Dean shouted as a hoard of demons rampaged towards them. Earth mages immediately sealed off the gate using earth magic. A huge wall made of the terrain immediately covered the gate. Some demons ram into the wall making loud sounds. Anticipating the situation other attack mages channel their spells aiming to the sky. Not so long after demons finally soared to the sky. Different elemental magic strikes them down. ----------------------------------------- "What was that?" Maximus reacted. "What was what?" a student asked. "The ground was shaken just a second ago" Maximus replied. "Huh? I didn't feel anything" he reacted. "You guys, did you feel the ground quaking?" the same student shouted. Most of them answered and they all don't have the faintest clue that ground shake. "Maybe it's just my senses toying with me" Maximus said "Dude remember you have earth magic. Maybe just maybe, what you sensed earlier is a hoard of demons marching towards us or maybe earth magic made tremors" the same student said Maximus is caught off guard by those words and starts to question himself. "Dude sorry to intrude your deep thinking but we still need to move these items" the student said as he gets a move on. "Oh yeah, sorry" Maximus apologized. He can't rub off that feeling so he once again questioned his senses. He starts to overthink which affected the task he is currently doing. "Dude you should take a break" "You look totally under the weather" "Is it because something I said?" the same student asked with a worried look in his face. "What if you are right?" Maximus asked and his voice was shaking. "If it is about the demons do not worry it was just a thought of mine" "Sorry to make you worried" the student said "What if it is the other one. The one that I manage to sense earth magic?" "What if there are people out there?" Maximus shouted in frustration. All nearby students heard him. They were all distressed so they all quickly approached him. "What's the matter Max?" another student asked and she seems worried. "Well I kinda made him overthink" "You see, we were talking about his senses then poof, s**t happens" a student from earlier explained with hand gestures and everything. Everyone glared at him because he is making no sense at all. The same question was raised but everyone expected a decent answer from Maximus. "I felt tremors that no one felt except for me" "Then what he said sank quickly. What if demons are marching towards us what if someone used earth magic and it resonated with me. Those were his words" "If that's true, I cannot remain here and do nothing" Maximus said with a slightly hasty tone. "What is this commotion all about?" Tyrone asks as he slides himself into the crowd. "Oh it is nothing. Nothing to worry about here Tay" "I was just overthinking that's all" Maximus said while looking in the ground. His composed hasty attitude immediately shifted when Tyrone was the one to speak to him. He looks sort of embarrassed and edgy at the same time. "Well I would love to hear what's on your mind" Tyrone said in an awfully calm voice. Maximus had this hesitant look on his face but Tyrone was a bit pushy so he just told everything that popped into his mind. What bothers him, what his intentions are, and even a plan to go check what is outside. "You know what, what if your intuition is correct" "What if demons are approaching us do we all stay here and wait for their arrival?" "What if there is someone in need or worse what if the neighboring cities were all attacked and refugees from all over the place were all driven here?" "Do we just stay here and do nothing?" Tyrone said to the crowd. "Listen everyone and listen well" "Prepare a search party and gear up. We are going to scout the nearby areas" "Also check for reusable supplies" "We will be heading out once everyone is gear up" "Are you with me" Tyrone said then raises his fist into the air. Everyone raised their fist as well as a sign of confirmation. Everyone immediately dispersed to gear up and pack supplies. "Thanks Tay" Maximus said with a radiant expression on his face. "No prob, what are friends are for" Tyrone said as he gives Maximus a pat on the shoulder. "Now go get geared up, we still have a scouting mission to tend to" Tyrone said then he takes his leave.
