“You’re going to be fine.” “You’re a big boy so be brave, your mother and siblings are waiting for you,” Sarah said. “Now take a deep breath” Sarah said then she demonstrates it. The kid copied what Sarah did. “That’s it, go on” Sarah motivated. After several second the kids’ leg is completely healed Sarah assisted him to stand up. “So?” Sarah said. The kid tried stomping it. “Wow! It doesn't hurt anymore in fact I feel a whole lot better.” “Thank you,” the kid said. “Okay now go on” Sarah said then she waved goodbye. Then the ground started to shake scaring the citizen because they took the underground path “Stay calm everyone!” “Nothing bad is going to happen. This hallway is fortified with earth magic so it can withstand strong tremors” Sarah shouted. The students immediately tend to the civilians to make them move faster. The shaking became more frequent and stronger. “Calm down! We are near the safe zone” the leading students shouted. “You hear that people were almost there.” “Just a couple more steps ahead” Sarah motivated. “I hope Tyrone and the others are doing okay,” Sarah worried. “f**k these demons sure are way too many” Mark ranted. “Yeah! There seems just to pop out of nowhere” Eve ranted. Several seconds later the fire in their forehead vanishes. Then they heard his loud thud “Help!” a student shouted. Everyone immediately looked and all saw Tyrone lying on the ground. “Everyone falls back!” Mark commanded Everyone immediately retreated but Mark stayed in the frontlines. “Take Tyrone to the safe zone!” “I’ll handle this.” “Anyone who wishes to fight, stay,” Mark said. “Marcus you take Tay to the safe zone and I’ll stay here to keep the demons from advancing.” “You should tag along Eve in case something pops up” Cyrus said. “I am on it” Eve said as she gave Cyrus a path in the shoulder. “Let’s go,” Eve said to Marcus. “Okay,” Marcus said as he carried Tyrone. “Take care guys” Cyrus said then he went back to the frontline. “What do you think happened to Tay?” Cyrus asked Mark. “Maybe he ran out of mana.” “That spell he casted earlier drains a lot of mana. Basing it on how much devastating it was” “In addition to that he buffs everyone” Mark said. “So that flame in our head earlier came from him?” “Wow” Cyrus said “How about you? How’s your mana doing?” Cyrus asked. “I think I have more to spare. Unlike him I didn’t use much mana earlier” Mark said then he soars high “Crushing Wind Shears” Mark casted then a gentle breeze blew then it sped up at the last second crushing everything in its path. “I wonder how the other squads are doing?” Mark asked himself. Then he notices something coming “Looks like the show isn’t over” Mark said as he clearly sees the upcoming swarm of demons. “Brace yourself, more demons are approaching!” Mark informed the others. “We still have time to run.” “Are we going to face them head on or retreat.” “I know everyone is exhausted and we can’t afford to lose any more men.” “Are numbers being pretty thin plus we don’t know how the others are holding?” Mark then asked for the consensus of everyone. Mark waited for the consensus before making his judgement. The majority want to withdraw because they have no more strength to continue and most of them are already injured. “As I said earlier those who wish to fight, fight and those who wish to withdraw, withdraw now and get some rest.” “We can’t always win a fight and I think it is best to take the injured to the save zone where Sarah is heading.” “Meet her there and get yourselves treated but please be back as soon as you can. I’ll try fending off the demons while you escape” Mark said. “Don’t be all and might Mark!” Cyrus shouted. He got everybody’s attention. “Even if you have elemental magic you can’t just face them head on!” “Do you think we want you to fight alone while we quiver for our lives!” “You should withdraw as well and still have time before the demons arrive so let’s hurry” Cyrus said. “You know I can’t right.” “If I leave my post the demons will be a step closer in invading this city and I don’t want that to happen.” “If you’re staying then stay. I do not have the rights to dictate you all. Your lives are in your hands so does my life lie in my hands” Mark said. “For everyone who wishes to stay, stay and those who are withdrawing go now the demons are closing in” Mark ordered. The seriously injured were taken into priority. Most of the group decided to head to the safe zone but they promise to come back as soon as they are treated. Only five of them remain. Mark, Cyrus, a tank, and two marksmen “Why didn’t you withdraw?” “You all know that your lives are at stake here!” Mark said. “So, are you correct? But you also didn’t withdraw.” “What you said earlier was wrong.” “Our lives lie on our hands not only mine.” “Think about the countless people that are dependent on us. Their lives are also in our hands” a marksman said. “Plus, if we turn tail now what if the demons track us down?” “It would be a handful killing them if there were civilians around,” another marksman said. “Yeah, we are all in this together.” “United we stand divided we fall” the tank motivated. Back at the tunnel Sarah and the civilians are almost at the exit then they hear a gunshot. The civilians started panicking and went out of control. Sarah did not know what to do and the gunshots just kept on coming. “Something is wrong!” Sarah reacted. She quickly ran towards the gunshot, but the civilians were blocking the path. Some even ran into her. “Move out the way!” Sarah shouted as she shoves the civilians to give her space. She is getting pissed. “Water destruction magic: Surging Waves” Sarah casted then three waves splashed to the crowd. “Now shut the f**k up!” Sarah shouted. She then clears her throat and speaks. “Now move out the way” in a serious manner. The crowd all step aside making a clear path for Sarah and the other students to walk through. As Sarah gets closer to the tunnel, she sees blood everywhere. Her heart started to race as she closed in. Then with her own two eyes she saw one of the marksmen getting crushed by a rock. She throws up the moment blood squirted out of the marksman. “Hello there, little missy” Someone said. Sarah wipes her mouth then looks. On top of the rock there was this kid smiling at her and spoke “Are you going to play with me?” “Get down there!” “It’s not safe here” Sarah shouted. The kids did not even listen and started jumping up and down the rock. “Water creation magic: Water Whip” Sarah casted then a fast stream of water is heading straight at the kid. Then rocks of different sizes block the attack. The kid then peeks out and makes funny faces to tease Sarah. “Looks like he’s a bigger threat than I thought.” “Surely he is skilled to kill all of them all by himself” thoughts inside Sarah's head Then Sarah heard footsteps. Looks like her backup will arrive soon. “Yehey more toys to play with” the kids cheerfully said. “Toy Ay!” Sarah reacted. “Water destruction magic: Surging Waves” Sarah casted then three waves are heading towards the kid. The kid clapped his head and a stone wall just popped up on the ground that blocked the waves. The kid then pushes the wall. “Wall of Terrain” the kid casted then a wall just popped out behind Sarah. “Water destruction magic: Crushing Currents” Sarah casted to the fast-moving current to prevent her from being crushed. The water was able to hold it then another wall was pushed towards her to add pressure. “Tsk!” She reacted. “Water destruction magic: Erosion” Sarah casted then the wall of earth started to turn into sediments. “Stay back,” Sarah said to the responding students. The seconds wall started to dissolve as well, and the kid was nowhere to be seen. “What now Sarah? It’s not safe here anymore” a student said. “We should proceed. It would be too risky if we head back” Sarah said then she takes the lead. She sneaked to the exit and peeked. It seems no one is around. She entered the safe zone, and it was completely deserted. “All clear,” She said. Then the students rally up the civilians and lead them to a safe zone. “I wonder where that kid went.” “I didn’t know that at such a young age you can wield magic.” “His spells are no joke.  Talk about spell power and casting speed” thoughts in Sarah’s head.
