Chapter Four

"Blake! Blakely! Dammit it B wake up!" Noah yelled over and over again while jumping on my bed after flicking my lights on and off.  "You're a grown man! When is this going to stop?" I groaned while put a pillow over my head. "We're twenty-one! We can legally drink. I want a beer!" Why he is like this, i Will never know. "Noah, we've been drinking since we were 16 and it's 4 in the morning, you cannot have a beer. Now go back to bed before i stop you from making it to twenty-two."  He grunted at me before marching out and turning the light off on the way. I tried to go back to sleep but after an hour of tossing and turning I finally pulled myself up out of bed mentally cursing my twin brother as I did. I staggered down the hall to Noah's room to see what he was up to and of course the brat was passed out in bed, snoring like a freight train. I decided to go back to bed and read and luckily after 30 minutes I drifted off into a dreamless sleep. "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you." I woke up to my parents, little sister, and all of our friends singing while Noah was sitting next to me. "Happy birthday blake and noah. Happy birthday to you!" Every year they did this.  "Cha cha cha!" Amelia, Ivory, and Blair yelled. "Blow out the candles." My father smiled while my mother held two cupcakes, one in front of each of us, and we blew out the candles. "Now get dressed, we're going to go out for breakfast and then us girls will go get our nails done while the boys do whatever boys do." My mother laughed, her laugh was like music to my ears and always made me smile. Don't let them do this to me. I begged Noah in our mind link but all I got was a chuckle in response before internally groaning. After everybody left I threw on some jeans and a t-shirt before slipping on my sneakers and leaving my straight auburn hair down to fall past my shoulder blades. I quickly walked downstairs where everybody was already dressed and ready to go. They all piled into their own cars while I climbed into my red honda civic with Ivory in my passenger seat. I like to run so much that i usually go everywhere by foot so i have to admit, I'm not the best driver. "How many pedestrians did you hit on the way here?" Noah laughed. "Shut up. I'm not that bad." I glared at him as we all took our seats.  It was a family breakfast so at the table sat my mother, father, Noah, Ivory, and Blair. We all ordered and made casual conversation for nearly 2 hours before deciding we should get going. "Okay." My mother started as we walked into the nail salon. "Get whatever you want done, my treat."  Ivory and Blair immediately knew what they were doing but i was so out of my element i just stood there like a deer in headlights. "Hun, do you know what color you want?" My mother smiled. "Uh. Red?"  She just let out a giggle before showing me where all of the colors were. "What about this one?" She pulled out a deep red that was a little darker than my hair. It was gorgeous. "Thats beautiful." She knew me so well. We were at the salon for over an hour while Ivory and Blair got their toes and nails done. My mother got fake nails while I just had them paint mine. I wouldn't be able to function with fake nails. "You used to love getting your nails done Blake, i'm surprised you didn't have more fun." My mother smiled weakly at me knowing what changed. We left the diner to go home and all came to the salon in one car so I was in the passenger seat while my mother drove and Ivory and Blair piled in the back. "That was before." I looked out the window and felt a pang in my heart. She left it alone, driving home in mostly silence besides the singing coming from the back seat. We got home just in time to see my father, Elijah, Mason and Benjamin finish packing things into the car to take to the beach. "B?" Noah called for me upstairs so I waved to my mom before jogging to the second floor. "Hey whats up?" "Im gonna do it." I could see the beads of sweat on my brother's face as he looked terrified but sure. "Wait. Tonight? At our party? Are you sure?" I felt his nerves shiver through my body just from looking at him. "I don't know. Should I? I mean it could ruin the whole party and I know you want the focus to be on you on our birthday. Maybe i'll wait." "No!" I nearly screamed out of excitement. "I mean if you're ready and you want too I would love for you to do it on our birthday. It just makes it more special." He smiled at my still looking scared but happy. "It'll be amazing." I walked toward my brother and enveloped him in a tight hug with my eyes threatening to spill. "Thank you B." I could feel wetness on my shoulder as he hugged me back tighter. "I'm proud of you Noah. You're an amazing man and you're going to do amazing things. This is a big step and I'm so happy I get to be here for it. I love you."  "I love you too."  We just stayed there for a second sharing a twin moment before he pulled away and wiped his stray tears. "Okay, I'm a man dammit and men don't cry." He looked serious, causing me to laugh. "You cry more than anyone i know dork." He smiled genuinely at my statement. "Whatever. Our party is in a few hours so go get ready. You need to look good for tonight because i know after I do it mom will take a million pictures." I chuckled knowing he was right before escaping to my own bedroom. I took a shower and washed my face before searching my closet for the birthday outfit my mother had picked out for me. I would be more embarrassed that my mom still picked out my nice clothes if she wasnt so good at it. I pulled on the new white halter style bikini top and tribal maxi skirt before sitting at my vanity to do my hair and makeup. I did very light minimal makeup like I always do with just concealer, mascara, and blush. Amelia had shown me earlier in the week how i should do my hair so i followed her previous instructions and pulled my hair into 2 messy space buns and curled all of the loose hairs that hung out. Standing up to look in my full size mirror I gawked at myself. I felt pretty for the first time in a long time seeing as i hadn't done anything like this since i was 15.  "Wow." Olly whispered. "You look beautiful." I felt sadness when I looked at him but I knew he was happy. "Thank you." I spoke with a flat tone, refusing to look at him. "I never meant to hurt you." I nearly let a tear slide as he said those words but I stayed strong. "We both knew it wasn't going to last forever, it's not your fault. We were just killing time." "You don't mean that." I could feel his gaze in my back as i didnt respond. "You weren't just a time killer for me." With that he walked away. I brushed the interaction off trying to focus on the party but it lingered with me. "You look stunning dear sister." Noah smiled at me once I got down the stairs. He was wearing a thin short sleeve white button up with the top few buttons undone and some swim trunks.  Sebastian did a double take after laying eyes on my. "Oh snap you look hot!" Noah quickly smacked him upside the head while William just laughed. Blair and Amelia soon came downstairs to meet us. Everyone else from both packs was already there waiting on us so we all made the tread to the beach, if i hadn't looked so nice i would have shifted and ran. After a 45 minute walk through the forest we finally made it there and my jaw dropped. Our parents went all out. There were balloon towers with streamers hanging from them, a table of pizza and snacks, giant speakers playing music, and of course a table full of booz making me internally laugh. "Happy birthday!" Everyone shouted as soon as we were seen. I laughed and Noah bowed loving the attention.  Before I could turn the other way my eyes landed on Oliver. Kissing Hayley. It was a short kiss, one that only lasted half a second, but in that half second I could feel my heart shatter. "Ignore them." Amelia came up next to me grabbing my arm and tugging me to where everyone was dancing in the sand. "Oh my god stop!" I laughed at my parents who were throwing down some disco moves with Elijah and Ana. My father's only response was to stick his tongue out at me making us laugh. We danced for nearly an hour before I broke away to catch my breath hydrate. "You look happy." Dylan spoke coming up next to me. "You've been here nearly a month and I haven't seen you smile. Not a real smile. Its beautiful." He gave me a small smile and i returned the favor. "Thank you. It feels good to finally let loose, when is your birthday?" I quizzed letting curiosity get the best of me. "It was actually a couple weeks before you guys moved here. I turned 24." "Happy belated birthday then." I smirked. It was nice to have a real conversation with somebody not from my pack without getting angry or upset. "Come on, let's go for a swim." I was about to agree before I saw Noah. "I would but I think my brother has some plans." I grinned bigger than I had in a long time as my twin brother got down on one knee in front of Blair. "Blair Caliana Rodes. We've known eachother since we were babies, you've seen my good times and my bad and held me through both with love. 3 years ago today I realized you are the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and I have the privilege of loving you more and more each day. I would be nowhere without you and I will spend every day until I die trying to make you at least half as happy as you make me. Blair, would you marry me?" At this point Blair was crying, my mother was crying, her mother was crying, and just about everyone else.  It was completely silent for a moment before Blair jumped on him yelling yes, I watched as he picked her up twirling her around before setting her back on the ground to put the engagement ring on her finger.  "Well then, now is as good a time as any." My father smiled, catching everyone's attention. "Midnight pack, I'd like to introduce you to your new Alpha and Luna. My son Noah and his fiancè Blair!" Everyone, including myself, began to clap as Noah stood tall and Blair blushed from the attention. Once the clapping died down he began to speak again, "And your new beta Oliver!" The clapping began again as the attention shifted to Olly. The night went by in a flash, we ate cake, opened some presents, and spent so much time dancing. By the time I got home my feet were swelling.  It was nearly midnight and everyone had finally gone to bed but i was still up in the kitchen eating more cake when Oliver walked in. I could tell he was pretty drunk by the way he swayed walking but I didn't say anything. I just scoffed. "What?" Olly asked obviously hearing my not so quiet huff. "Sleep it off Conri." I rolled my eyes at him. "What is your problem man?" I could hear the agitation in his voice. "Don't start with me Oliver." I warned. "Don't start with me Oliver." He mocked while laughing. "Dude get your drunk ass to bed before you start something." "You know I really loved you." Here we go. "I loved you so much and then this afternoon you say i was just a time killer, how do you think that makes me feel? Huh?" "Seriously Olly, go to bed." I groaned. "I loved you Blake!" He began to raise his voice and I was over it. "Key word right there was loved. You loved me as in past tense Olly! I still love you and it hurts and it's hard seeing you with her so i don't care how you feel right now!" I matched his volume. "You never cared! You haven't cared about anyone or anything since you were 18!" He kept getting louder and louder and at the mention of my past I was seething. "You don't know what the hell you're talking about!" I was seeing red.  "You need help!" Oliver yelled across the room. "Oh that's rich coming from you." I spit out with venom dripping from my voice. "Ever since you lost Samuel you've been f****d in the head!"  "Don't you dare mention his name ever again!" My voice boomed so loud I swear I felt the house shake and every movement from the outside world stopped before I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. In that moment I felt my heartbreak and hot tears roll down my cheeks as I fell to the floor. "I was there Blake. When you lost him I was there and I watched you lock yourself in your room for a month and come out a completely different person. You never talked about it, you never worked through it. You broke. You were eighteen! You can't just go through that without help but you wouldn't accept it!" I just sat on the ground with a river coming out of my eyes while he yelled and before I knew it Noah's fist connected with Olly's jaw. Hard. He fell to the floor and I felt my brother's arms envelop me right before everything went black.
