"How about a beach day?" Sebastian smiled next to Amy as we walked through the front door.
"That sounds amazing." I could hear the relief in Noah's voice.
Without another thought we all got dressed in our bathing suits and left for the beach. It was about an hour walk from the house and I was on Noah's back because of my ankle but it was nice. As soon as we reached the sand I saw Dylan, Danielle, Alyssa, Zachary, and Amber all either swimming or tanning.
"Woah." I watched Will make eye contact with Amber and color drained from his face. The same look Noah has for Blair and Oliver for Hayley. Mate.
"How did you not realize before?" I laughed. "She's been at every training session."
"I don't know. I guess i was so focused on training that i tuned everyone else out." His voice drifted as he started walking toward her mid sentence.
I felt a small pang of jealousy in my chest but brushed it off. I caught Dylan staring at me with his mouth agape at my half naked body in my bikini. I just scoffed remembering what he said to me and followed Blair to sit in the sand.
"Hey." Dylan walked up to us.
"Uh hi." Blair smiled after realizing I wasn't going to respond.
"Blakely, can I speak with you?"
"Fine." My voice was monotone and cold but I still got up and followed Dylan no matter how much I didn't want to. I don’t know what the magnetic pull to him was but I was growing tired of it.
We got a little further down the beach before he spoke again.
"I'm sorry."
No response.
"I shouldn't have said those things to you. I was having a rough day and I took it out on you and i shouldnt have. I didn't mean what I said." You couldn't miss the guilt in his voice but that didn't make what he said okay.
"Okay." The same cold tone as before came out of my mouth before I could stop it then I found myself walking back to the beach without another word.
I sat down next to Blair watching the boys in the water and as I looked at Noah I remembered how much Sam looked like him.
"You're making all of these decisions like he wasn't a major part of my life too!" Austin screamed after punching a hole in the wall of Samuels room.
"This isn't my fault!" I yelled back, tears running down my face.
"You're moving on like he meant nothing! Like he was nothing!" He got closer to me as his volume raised and hot rivers ran down his face to match mine.
"I am not moving on!" My voice had been louder than I thought was possible making Austin flinch, humans couldn’t always handle how loud wolves could be. "I killed him! How the hell am i supposed to move on from that."
"What are you doing?" I snapped at Dylan as he pulled me out of my thoughts and up from the ground.
"I'm going to make this up to you so you're coming with me and don't argue because i already talked to Noah so nobody is going to help you if you freak out." He had a smug look on his face like he was proud of something.
I yanked my arm from his grasp because where he touched me felt like it was on fire and continued to follow him with a grunt. We soon ended up at the waterfall, the same place i talked to Dylan about Oliver And where Dylan had freaked out on me.
He quickly took his shirt off before picking me up and jumping in with the both of us.
"What the hell!" I shrieked as my head came back to the surface.
"Cannon ball!" His laugh was kind of mesmerizing.
"This is how you think you're going to make it better? By throwing me in water!" I was infuriated.
"By the smile on your face I think it worked." It took me a second before I realized I was smiling. Not my fake angry smile but a real smile.
"Jerk." I laughed and splashed water on him.
"So tell me, what's got your mind all twisty?" He quizzed, sitting next to me in the water.
"Last night I found out there is a group of rogues planning an attack on our pack and we're all worried for the outcome." I spoke honestly, going over the events of the meeting last night.
"Why? I mean they're just rogues so why would your pack of anyone be worried?" His face scrunched up in genuine confusion.
"You've never met a rogue healer?" He shook his head so i explained. "Healers are meant for good. We are to heal and protect and when a healer goes rogue they are refusing their duty which has consequences. A rogue healer is evil, the magic they possess is that of a demon. Instead of healing they can inflict more damage on a wolf with one single glance than a wolf could do with every ounce of strength in their being and when there is a group of rogue healers? That is suicide to your pack. My father made us promise to treat the Shadow pack as our own so that's what we have to do, even if it kills us. It's not our pack they are after but it is our pack that will fight."
"Wow." Was all he could say.
We sat in silence for a second before he spoke up again. "I will fight."
I couldn't help the chuckle that erupted from my throat causing me to receive a death glare from Dylan.
"No offence but you are no match for a rogue healer. One will rip your skin from your flesh before you can blink and they don't think twice. They are faster, stronger, smarter, they can do everything better and they have powers on top of that. You will die."
"Then you'll train me. Everyday we will go to the woods and and we will train until I can fight with you without being a liability." He looked so sure of himself.
"Training won't give you powers Dylan and even if it did, why would I wake up two hours early to train you if I could spend that time training someone who will be able to fight?" I didn't mean to, but I spoke with annoyance in my tone.
"Because i'm going to be an Alpha, Blake, i will be Alpha of my pack and i can't just sit back and do nothing when they could die! It will be my duty to take care of them so that's what i will do." My respect for him went up slightly at the words he spoke but I still wasn't convinced.
"You will die." I put it bluntly. "The second a rogue smells you and realizes you're a regular wolf they will rip you limb for limb and you will die. How will you be of any help to them then?"
"I won't die but even if i do i will have died knowing i did everything i could for the people who count on me." He started standing up.
"Sit back down hotshot." I laughed before yanking his leg, making him fall in the water. "We will start tomorrow. 5 am, if you're even a second late then i will leave and we won't try again."
He just smirked in response before diving head first into the water, making a splash of water fly everywhere.
We swam and hung out for hours before Dylan started getting out of the water.
"Come on." He demanded. "We're going somewhere."
I rolled my eyes before standing up and hobbling over to him, he took note of my ankle before sweeping me up bridal style and laughing when I hit him. I ignored all of the fiery tingles shooting through my body. He got to my house and went inside still carrying me before taking me to the kitchen and setting me on the island. I laughed before I turned my head to see Oliver at the table glaring at Dylan.
"Go get dressed in something casual, i'm going to run home and do the same." He smiled and shot me a wink to piss off Oliver, making sure Olly could see, then walked out of the house.
"So what, are you two screwing?" He mumbled putting another mouth full of cereal in.
"Real smooth." I spit out with disgust as I got off the island and walked upstairs.
Dylan was cute, he had a boyish charm with his curly brown hair but I couldn't let myself go through with him what I just went through with Oliver. It was still fresh and i was still hurting. He wasn't my mate so I couldn't fall for him even if I wanted to, and I think I did want too. He still pissed me off 90% of the time but when he touched me fireworks erupted from my skin and I felt like I was boiling in the most amazing way.
I pulled myself out of my thoughts realizing I had been standing at the top of the stairs for 10 minutes. I quickly walked to my room and threw on some sweatpants and a shirt before running downstairs to see Dylan already standing there and Olly glaring at him from across the room.
"Ready to go?" Dylan smiled ignoring Oliver.
"Yep." I grinned.
We got outside and to my surprise he had a black dodge ram sitting in the driveway. Where are we going that we couldn't just walk?
Dylan walked around and opened the door for me before I got in.
"Where are we going?" I quizzed with confusion.
"You'll see." He flashed me an award winning grin which bothered me because I liked it.
I just ignored him as he started up his truck and pulled onto the road. I don't know when i fell asleep but i must have since i jumped awake when the truck stopped.
"Where are we? I asked, still groggy.
I looked out the window and my eyes went wide.
The ocean.
We must have been driving for hours to get to the ocean and I couldn't help the grin that overtook my face. Sure we'd gone to the lake off the beach everyday and that small waterfall but it was muggy and nothing compared to what i was witnessing. Id never been to the ocean and I'd always dreamed out going.
"How did you know?" I let out the smallest whisper still trying to comprehend my surroundings.
"Noah." He smiled.
Before he could say anything else I ripped the seat belt off and sprinted to the water, stripping as I ran. Once i reached the water i was only in my underwear, since i didn't know where we were going i didn't bring a swimsuit. The water was crystal like, so clear I could see the fish swimming below me.
I couldn't wipe the smile on my face nor did I want to.
I looked back at Dylan to see him sitting on a beach towel i assume he laid out while i was busy in the water just smiling at me. A genuine breathtaking smile and I couldn't stop myself from feeling admiration for the boy who took me to the ocean.
