Sophie believed that an anniversary gift could rekindle the warmth in her cold marriage. But the sparkle of hope shatters when she witnesses her husband, Ronald, with Madison—the woman who's always held a piece of his heart. This devastating revelation propels Sophie to the brink, leading her to demand a divorce and begin a journey of self-reinvention.

As fate would have it, Sophie's fresh start is marred by the shadows of her past. She finds herself working for Robin, a vengeful businessman with designs on Ronald's company, Dreamscape. Unknown to her, the man she's assigned to betray is the very man she's trying to forget.

Chapter 1
Sophie "Another year to mark our wedding anniversary. I hope I'm able to get a perfect gift for him," I said, making my way into the jewelry store with my eyes glancing at the signboard. I felt so delighted, knowing that today was going to be a beautiful day for Ronald and me. Maybe not that beautiful on his part, but on my part. For a good nine years, I've been married to Ronald. Our marriage has always been imperfect or rather one-sided. But I still put in my best to try and make it good, even though Ronald doesn't want it. I've been trying to be the isle wife in his eyes for mine good years, but my husband doesn't find me worthy of it. He always looks at me with displeasure, seeing me as a stranger around him. That has made me feel so helpless that I can't help but wonder if I've done something wrong to deserve this cruelty in my marriage. Nine years isn't a small digit when it comes to marriage. It's a great number and a pain as well. Sometimes I ask myself if I'm being punished for a past mistake or something in the past to have such a marriage. But I have no answer to that question. "Pull yourself together, Sophie. This is not the time to be feeling sad or upset. It's your anniversary," I said, reminding myself. A smile crept across my face, as I fully went into the store, searching for the gift I saw fit for my husband. "I wonder if this anniversary is going to be like every other one else," I asked myself, thinking of the past. I'm always bringing in gifts for Ronald, but he has never gotten me one for our anniversary. He doesn't even attempt to do so. I once again, managed to place that behind me, just to get my husband the perfect gift he wants. But when I went in deeper to search, I received the biggest shock of my life. "No," I uttered, feeling my heart beating with pain. There stood my husband, Ronald, with another woman, buying some jewelry. My entire body shivered at this sight. I thought Ronald left for the office. I thought I could control my shock, but I was left hurt on seeing the face of this woman my husband had in his hold, buying different jewelry. "Madison?" I gazed in astonishment. Madison, the woman who has always been in Ronald's heart even before we got married, nine years ago. I never thought I'd see her again after all these years. And I can see her presence has ignited Gray's love for her. I looked at my husband, watching how he smiled at Madison, with his arm around her waist. "He has never held me that way." I felt my heart crumbling at this. The thought of getting him a gift vanished from my heart at once. "This anniversary has always been one-sided for years. It has always been me trying to make it work. But..." Pains filled me more. I lost the zeal to shop but left the store. "I can't take this anymore. This has to end," I decided, making my final decision. "Ronald has never seen me as one worthy to be in his life. He has always been cold to me. His heart belongs to Madison alone. He wants her, not me," I said, feeling tears slowly welling in my eyes. "There's only one way out of this marriage, and that's to end it," I decided. . When Ronald returned home to find me waiting in the living room, he gave that cold gaze like always and tried to walk away. Not until I called his attention, walking up to him. "What is it?" He groaned at me like I was some kind of problem to him. "Gray, I want a divorce," I said. The moment I uttered that, I noticed how shocked Gray looked. I know why it's so. He never thought I'd utter such one day. "A divorce? I..." He paused, thinking about what I had just said. For a second, it looked like he was displeased and wanted to know why. But his response broke me more. "Yes, that's for the best. We'd get a divorce. Besides, this marriage has never been working out got us all these years. I see no reason why we should waste another year together," He said, showing his desire to leave me. I know he's feeling pleased about my decision. He just can't wait to bring the woman he loves into the house. I hummed and went back to the couch I sat on to get the papers. I already had them set and didn't want to hesitate any longer. "Here, sign it," I said to Gray, handing it to him. His eyes fell on my signature on the paper, before dotting down his with ease. When he was done, he handed me the document and said, "Good luck to you. " Then he walked out of my sight. I stood there, watching him make his way up the stairs. I didn't know if I should cry or not, but I knew I didn't want to stay in this house with him anymore. Sadly, I went over to my room and took out my luggage, which I had already gotten set before signing the divorce papers. I gently stepped out of my room and made my way to the entrance. I noticed Gray sitting there on the couch, attending to his phone. He saw me but slowly took his gaze off me like I didn't exist. I said nothing but went out of the house, making my way to the gate. Just when the security opened it up for me, I was stunned to find Madison there with her bags. That means Gray told her about the divorce. Madison lingered her eyes around me, before giving out a laugh. "And she finally surrendered. How sad, " She mocked me. I tried to ignore her, but Madison wasn't ready to leave me just yet. She kept mocking me, saying to me in a whisper, "You are a failure. You couldn't even keep your marriage of nine years together. What a shame." She laughed. I felt broken and immediately rushed out of the gate with sadness, hearing Madison's mocking voice from behind.
