Chapter 12

Ryu's POV It had been an hour since Alex stopped whimpering in pain. His slow shallow breaths were the only thing telling me that he wasn't dead. I couldn't stop Wolfram from whimpering and pacing inside my head. It was dark out and Pandora was shivering. The temperature had dropped a lot. "Come sit with us." I told her, but she shook her head. "I'll be fine." Was all she said. I sighed. My little sister could be so stubborn. "Danger!" Wolfram growled. "Pandora." "I know." We sat there listening. We could hear trees rustle in the distance, but whatever it was, was getting closer at a fast pace. They were up wind, but I couldn't smell anything. "Get him out of here." Pandora whispered. I nodded and picked Alex up. Once he was on my back, I shifted and took off. I had to make sure not to go too fast. He might fall off. I guess with all the movement, Alex woke up. I felt him shift to his human form and hold onto my fur. "Hold on. I have to go faster. Mistress is waiting for me." Wolfram linked Alex. He didn't reply, but I felt him tighten his grip on my fur. I put on more speed. It wasn't too long before Alex and I reached the house. "Do you have to go?" Pandora's POV I hissed at the shadow creature in front of me. I was going to have to fight it off until Ryu got back. It lunged at me. I jumped to the left, but I wasn't fast enough. It sliced my side open. I hissed in pain. Damn it! I needed Ryu! It came at me again. Now I was slower because of my wound. It pinned me down. "Weapon! I summon thee! Hear my words and come to me!" I yelled as the creature clawed my chest open. Ryu's POV I looked around. I felt like I was being summoned. "Weapon! I summon thee! Hear my words and come to me!" I heard Pandora call. "Inside. Now!" I yelled as inscriptions began to appear on my body. I closed my eyes. When I opened them again, Wolfram was standing beside me. I saw Pandora struggling to get the shadow creature off her. I ran at it with Wolfram beside me. "Pick a weapon, Mistress!" I yelled. "Scythe!" I felt my body changing. I was her weapon, and that is all I was. I became her scythe. Pandora's POV Wolfram tackled the shadow off me. "Distraction!" I yelled at him. I got up and ran to my scythe. More were coming. That damn thing called for more. I picked up my scythe and hissed. Wolfram came back and offered me his neck for me to feed and heal. I took it and bit into him. Wolfram was the only thing that wouldn't be affected by my bite. I drank enough for my wounds to heal. Even though my eyes were glowing red from my feed, I was still feeling the burn on my chest. It had cut me deep. I jumped up onto his back. "Come and get me you fucker!" I hissed. It growled back. I knew now what I was fighting. "Demon piece of s**t!" I held up my scythe and kicked Wolfram's sides. He growled and charged at the demon. I swung my scythe, cutting the demon in half. The scent was foul. Wolfram shook his head at the smell. "Ignore it." I whispered. One fell, another took its place. These demons were not going to give up easily like the first one did. I hissed and held my scythe up. It was covered in a dark grey liquid that I assume is their blood. They kept coming. This must be the battle that I was to fight. "Go Wolfram!" I yelled and jumped off his back. He attacked demon after demon. He didn't stop and I didn't either. I killed so many of them to the point that I couldn't keep my grip on my scythe. "Weapon! Become my sword!" I yelled. I felt my weapon become a sword. I took my stance, holding my blade in front of me. There were bodies everywhere and the smell was putrid, but I had to keep fighting. I had no time to stop and throw up. I sliced another demon across the throat and I fell with a gurgling sound as its blood sprayed out. Wolfram was off fighting with them somewhere. I could hear his growls. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm myself, a demon took that chance thinking that I was distracted. No, I was now just going to rely on my hearing to fight. I thrust my sword into its chest, I fell to the ground. I kept slashing and slicing. It felt as if i was fighting for weeks without rest. Alex's POV I paced back and forth on the deck. My head still hurt from Pandora's blood, but I was fine otherwise. I couldn't feel my bond with Ryu at all. Him and his wolf must be doing their jobs as weapon and steed. I sighed and looked up at the forest, there was still no movement. I paced again. "Alpha, I'm sure they are fine. They will be back. Alpha, please eat something." My Gamma had been trying to get me to come inside and eat for the last two hours, but I refused. I needed to be out here for when they came back. I needed to know first, if they were okay. "No. Go away." I haven't used my alpha voice yet on him. He's never been this stubborn about my health before. "No sir! With all respect, but you need to get your ass inside and eat! Your daughter is refusing to eat because her father isn't in there with her!" He growled at me. I mean, he never growled at anyone. Not even at an annoying fly. I looked at him shocked for a moment, but I could see the anger clearly burning in his eyes like a wild forest fire. I left and went to the kitchen to eat. He didn't follow. He stayed there and watched the treeline. "Daddy? Where is Mommy and Uncle Ryu?" Lillian asked. She was getting bigger and smarter every day. She looked so much like Kanna. "They won't be back for a little bit. Mommy and Uncle Ryu are fighting the bad guys right now." "When will they be home?" "I don't know, baby. Let's eat so we can go wait for them out front okay?" She nodded and we ate our dinner. I was cold now, but I didn't care. I just wanted to get it over with so I could go back to the front deck. "Daddy, I'm all done." I looked over at her plate, I was cleared completely. She was eating more and more every day. "Are you still hungry?" Werewolf pups ate a whole lot of food. She shook her head. I quickly finished my plate and headed back to the deck with Lillian in my arms. I had been told that Lillian was now my sole reason for living after this battle is over, but I still couldn't stop missing Kanna. Another hour had passed when finally, there was movement in the trees. I looked in the direction, but it was only a deer. I sighed and looked down at Lillian, sleeping in my arms. I smiled lightly and Linked my Gamma. "Come put Lillian in her bed. She's fallen asleep in my arms." He didn't take long to come get her from me. I nodded a thank you at him and went back to watching the forest. Pandora's POV I stood in the middle of the battlefield out of breath. Wolfram was badly injured and I was too. They had stopped coming out from the trees a while ago, but there were still about a hundred of them left. I had been protecting Wolfram since he got his side slashed open. I kept an eye on him and an eye on the demons that surrounded us. "Hold on Wolfie, I'll get us out of here." I whispered. I swung at a demon. My blade sunk deep into its shoulder. It didn't take long for it to bleed out. I kept fighting. I was covered in their blood, Wolfie's blood and my blood. Blood seeped into my left eye. It stung, I had to close it. I swung hard and fast. I was getting so pissed off at all these damn demons. I wanted to go home and have a shower. I wanted to tend to Wolfie's wounds, tend to my own. I wanted to get away from the stench of their blood. I was screaming with every strike. I was very much done with this f*****g battle. I sliced the last ones arm off. It screamed in pain. "Stop! I beg you!" It yelled. "Why should I?" I hissed. "I don't want to die!" "Should have run away when you had the chance!" I brought my blade up and sliced its head off. A quick kill. demons may lie all the time, but that one told the truth for once. I ran back to Wolfie. "Wolfie, are you still with me?" I asked. "Yes, Mistress." He said. He was weak. I placed my sword on his back, letting Ryu and Wolfram become one again. "Can you get up?" "Yes, little sister. I can get up, but I'm not going to be as fast as I was. I'm tired and sore." I helped him up. He had to lean on me to keep his balance. "I'll get you home, big brother. Just lean on me." I said. I was bleeding badly from multiple deep wounds. It was dawn when we finally broke through the treeline. I couldn't keep going. I hit the ground taking a very weak Ryu with me. "Ryu! Pandora!" I heard someone yelling. I was too tired to keep my eyes open. They were so heavy, I just let them close and darkness took over me. Alex's POV I ran to them. Pandora was bleeding badly and they smelled horrible. "Help!" I yelled. My alpha voice caused many strong fighters to run to me. I heard them gag, but they didn't turn away. I picked up Pandora. It took three fighters to lift Ryu up. They were both unconscious. "Where are he taking them, Alpha?" "To the men's showers. They need to be cleaned and their wounds dressed. You," I looked right at a young fighter. "Go clear everyone out of the showers." She ran off quickly. We followed, but not as fast. Ryu was a very heavy and big wolf to carry. Pandora's blood soaked my shirt. It seemed that she took most the the damage, but I wouldn't know until they were cleaned up. I placed Pandora on the floor and my fighter put Ryu beside her. "Get me the pack nurse!" One of them ran off. I began to remove Pandora's clothes. Her wound were pretty bad for what I could see. The nurse didn't take long to get here at all. "Alex, warm water quickly." She said. I followed her orders. It turned out, both of them were near death from their injuries. I paced back and forth, watching the nurse stitch them up wound by wound. Ryu had a nasty s***h along his side, two broken ribs, a broken nose, his back was covered in deep claw marks. Pandora had deep slashes all over her body, five broken ribs, her left eye was punctured. She wasn't going to see out of that eye anymore according to the nurse. She had claw marks across her face. She was going to need a lot of rest to heal all those wounds. I saw her opening her glowing red eyes and she hissed. The nurse jumped a bit, but held her composure. "Stay still Pandora. I need to stitch you up." "I-I'm so thirsty." She whispered. Her voice was raspy. I pulled my K9's out and ripped a gash in my wrist. Letting her drink as much as she needed. "Please be careful not to drink me dry." I whispered to her. I saw her eyes start to close. She woke up to feed and that was it. She did take quite a bit that I felt dizzy for a few minutes, but not enough to hurt me. I healed quick enough that I wouldn't need anything more than just a bandage. I helped the nurse take them to my room. My bed was big enough to hold them both while the nurse bandaged their wounds. "Thank you Nurse Hope." I nodded at her. She smiled. "I will always tend to those who need it." She left the room and I sat there on the chair in my room, just watching them. These two people laying on my bed were two of the three most important people in my life. I wasn't about to lose them to anything yet. I was not ready to give them up. I know this is selfish, but I don't care. I want to keep both of them safe and alive. I love them both.
