CHAPTER NINE

Sebastian went to the sitting room displaying a furious face. He went and stood in front of the TV looking at Trevor murderously. “Dude, what the heck, you are blocking my view, ” Trevor said staring at Seb. “Why did you lie to me about the muffins?” Seb said, punching his hands together. Without giving Sebastian the pleasure, Trevor flipped over the couch to land on the opposite side. He started limping to the kitchen. Sebastian followed him and caught up to him. He was so furious he scarcely acknowledged the bruises on his friend’s body. He lifted Trevor to slam him on the couch. “Are you that blind? Do you want to finish me up?” Trevor cried out. Sebastian looked up to glance at Trevor, then he noticed a deep cut on Trevor’s thigh. He dropped him down carefully, then perused his body for a second or two. “What the hell happened to you? It seems like who or whatever did this had done it for me because you would have been looking the same after I wrapped up with you,” Seb said, grinning. “I saw Siobhan last night. A few miles from your place, ” Trevor gasped going to the couch. “Wait, what?” Seb followed Trevor, and they sat next to each other. “That is not all man. We were right about Amell, the demon dragon is out of the underworld.” “And they did this to you?” “Yeah.” “Why if I may ask?” “Siobhan is looking for the spell book. And Amell, well after my father locked him in hell for years, he might want to get me back for that.” “But the book is yours now, ” he said, staring at Trevor attentively to what he was about to say. “Of course it’s mine. But he wants it by force, why do you think I’m looking like this?” He spoke looking at his battered body. “I wonder why they appointed him a leader in the first place?” And they both signed gazing at the TV. “He is a damn psychopath, ” he added. “And to answer your question. Some wizards and witches support him because according to them it is time they came out of hiding and take over incarnates. But others are under the imperious curse.” “That curse exists? I only read it in Harry Potter.” “Apparently it does, ” they shared a look, both looking thoughtfully. “Where are Siobhan and Amell? I assume you had put an end to this madness?” Seb oozed. “When I was fighting with them.” He explained his encounter with Siobhan and Amell, leaving no detail. Then he eventually said, “after mine and Siobhan’s spell met the last thing a knew I was on the ground unconscious.” “What about Siobhan and Amell?” “When I woke up, they were not there and the bastards took my wand.” “But the good news is you have a damn protective shield now, ” he said chuckling. “Yeah, if it wasn’t for that shield, Amell would’ve burned me to ashes.” “Lack, ” he bet Trevor on the chest. Trevor groaned in pain. “What is the way forward?” he asked as an afterthought. “I don’t know man, we just have to stay alert and guard the book with my life.” “I’m right with you man, ” he patted his friend on his back. “Thanks, man.” Then Sebastian pulled Trevor into a bro-hug that nearly snapped his newly repaired ribs. Something was wrong with them because they abruptly filled their eyes with tears. ************* “Mother, I’m home. Where are you?” Emma called out? “I’m in the kitchen, dear, “ Ireen answered. She left her blank handbag and went to the kitchen. “I thought I told you to arrive early, young lady,“ Ireen said upon hearing her daughter entering the kitchen. “But mother, it’s twenty-one hours,“ she glanced at her pink, not an expensive but highly stylish wristwatch. “Yes, that’s still late Emma,“ she took the plate with chopped tomatoes, onions, green pepper, all kinds of stuff and pulled it in the pot. “The cafe closes at twenty mom.” “Well, can’t you tell your boss you have to reach home early?” “I’m new there I can’t start making requests. You are just being difficult,“ she said, keeping her tone down. “Buy the way what are you cooking. It smells delightful.” She went and started checking the pots on the table. “Nshima. Come and take over, I’m feeling tired. I have cooked the fish, you just have to finish making the soup. Cook the vegetables and nshima.” She removed the apron and left the kitchen. ********** “We will kick their ass together, you moron, “ Sebastian spoke. “Yes, man, “ Trevor answered, and they both smirked. Trevor’s phone rang. It was on the charger. He got up from the couch. He picked the phone up, Meagan was calling. “Yes Meagan, how are you?” He asked. “I’m fine, sir, how are you?” “I’m good as well, thanks. w******p is everything ok?” He went and sat down. “Oh, yes. I just wanted to check on you since you didn’t come to work today nether did you call to say you weren’t coming.” She came out of the car and entered the hotel name. “Oh, thanks, but everything is ok here, and I will come tomorrow.” “Good to hear, and there are papers you need to sign.” “Alright, just remind me tomorrow.” “I will. I just wanted to check up on you good night, Mr. Trevor.” “Thanks and good night to you too.” And she hung up the phone. She entered an elevator and landed on the third floor. She pulled out the keys from her handbag, opened her apartment, and went inside. ********** A few minutes Maria came with two white plates in her hands covered on top. She sat them at the table and went to the sitting room. “Gentlemen, sorry to interrupt your movie time, but dinner is served,” she said in a rather squeaky sound. “Thank you, dear, “ Trevor oozed. “Thanks, Maria, “ Sebastian said. They got up and followed Maria to the dining table. Trevor and Maria sat close to each other while Sebastian sat on the opposite side. Before they could start eating, Maria said the prayer. And I realized they were Catholics because they made the sign of the cross before they began praying. They removed the covers on the plates and serving pots. Boy, oh boy, the invigorating fragrance of the food would instantly turn your bitter heart into a golden one. She roasted the chicken perfectly. The rice was twinkling. At some point, I thought a star has fallen from above. The potatoes perfection and of course a meal isn’t good without vegs. An enormous bowl contained different varieties of vegetables; broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, carrots to mention but a few. She might not have magic, but she worked wonders in the kitchen. Sebastian kept on admiring Maria’s cooking, but despite that, he was upset about the muffins. Other than praising Maria’s cooking, he talked about his big-headed boss. Best times they even forgot about the danger coming their way. They finished eating after an hour. Sebastian was washing his hands then a thought hit him, “what is the time?” He asked glancing at Maria than Trevor. “Don’t you have your phone?” Trevor asked. “Man, just tell me.” “Er…….., ” Maria started looking at her phone. “Two hours before midnight.” “Dammit, ” Seb jumped off the chair. “What’s it?” Trevor demanded. “I’m supposed to meet Natasha, ” he said, heading to the door. “Wait, you didn’t tell him?” Maria inquired, gazing at Trevor. “Tell me what?” Seb asked. “That he saw Natasha kissing another man.” “I did, ” Trevor responded. “Then why are you still seeing her?” Maria asked, studying Seb attentively. “You seriously expect me to let her down smoothly for cheating on me. Oh no, ” Seb said mercilessly. “Look who is talking about cheating, ” Trevor spoke. “What, man, ” Seb responded with a keep your mouth shut moron look. “Yesterday you were admiring Emma. But I’m not saying it was right for her to cheat, she should certainly pay for her actions. And I don’t understand one thing you said your love for her vanished a few months after you started dating. So I don’t really understand the all concept of you still dating her,” Trevor spoke. “I know man, but I was willing to give this relationship a second chance. I haven’t gone out with another woman ever since I started dating her. I have told you. I act one’s age now, ” he opened the door. “But you admire them, right?” Maria asked. “A little, ” was all Seb could say. Silence broke in as they were escorting Sebastian to the gate. “Anyway, you can do what you want with her. Just don’t hit her or anything physical. I don’t have the money to bail you out of jail, ” Trevor teased. “Dude, I respect women. I wouldn’t think of doing that.” “I know you wouldn’t do that brother-in-law. And are you gonna tell us your plan or?” Maria inquired. “I will inform you about it later, I have go. I wonder why she hasn’t called yet, ” he withdrew his phone from the pocket, anticipating to find a missed call or a massage but nothing. “Alright man, good night then. I have to sleep tomorrow I’m going to work, ” Trevor spoke. “Alright, good night. Good night, Maria, ” he added. They watched him as he moved. He turned around and shouted, “thanks for the meal.” Maria just gave him a thumbs up. And they entered inside. ********** Sebastian was halfway to his place. He tried calling his drive, but he was not picking up so he was just walking. Then he saw two men standing at the middle of the road about ten to fifteen feet from where he was. One man had green eyes. Blonde hair and black in complexion. The other one had grey eyes. He was bold that you wouldn’t even know where his forehead began or ended. He also had a mustache with a little grey on it. Not because he was old some people just have grey hair soon and his face was still looking youthful. And he was black in color as well. They both wore Capri pants. Black plain shirts and one wore high-tops shoe and the other shoes. Their frame was thick with well-earned muscles. Their eyes seemed to glow like twin emeralds. After seeing this, Sebastian instantly knew who they were.
