CHAPTER EIGHT

Trevor woke to the sound of splashing water the following morning. He peeled open his eyelids, which felt crushed by too much sleep. Maria stepped out of the shower, drying her hair with a hairdryer. “Oh you are up,” Maria said while sitting on the mirror putting whatever women put on their faces. “Yeah, what time is it,” he sat in a sitting position rubbing his eyes. “It’s ten, you slept like a baby,” he saw her grinning in the mirror. “Why didn’t you woke me up dear I’m late?” He jumped out of bed and felt his bones snap. “Trevor, go back to bed you will not work today, ” she went and helped him. “But Ma……, ” “But nothing, Trevor, just stay there. You aren’t going to work today.” “I’m not remaining in the house alone, ” he fussed. “Of course not I told my boss to give me a day off, ” Trevor smiled amused. “When I see Siobhan and Amell, they will certainly pay for wrecking my car and for the bruises on my skin,” “They should pay,” Maria repeated with a supportive tone, ” let me prepare water for you, so you can bathe.” “Thanks, dear.” Maria got up from the chair fully dressed in a luvamia high waist denim shorts. A navy-blue choker crop top that left her belly button exposed. She completed the look with thong sandals. After a few minuscules, she came back and helped her husband to the shower. “I’m kind of confused who will bathe me because I can absolutely see you are not?” “No one, I have to prepare breakfast, then I will come back to help you dress.” “But I can’t bathe myself, see, ” he tried to reach for the soap, “I can hardly get the soap.” “Stop exaggerating T, I will be right back, ” she left and went downstairs. ******* “Dammit, I’m late for work again that big-headed man is gonna yell at me, “ Sebastian said dressing up while eating. He wore black shiny shoes. A bespoke suit of a distinguished pattern I doubted would be found anywhere. And a watch that seemed to glow in dim light. Sebastian was a bean counter at standard chartered bank of Zambia. Which made people understand his regular dressing when he tells them what he did for a living. Also why he lived in a splendid mansion and how he managed to buy a fancy sports car which was in for servicing. Those bastards got a lot of money as their monthly pay. He finished up and stormed out of the house. He stood on the side of the road waiting for a tax. After a few moments, a tax arrived. He got in and the driver took off. ******** “Are you done yet,“ Maria said. “Yeah but I can hardly walk can you come and help me?” She went to the shower but got startled by what she saw. “Jesus. Trevor, can you put on something,“ she looked away upon finding him in a baby suit. “I’m your husband and you are my wife. I don’t see any reason you can’t see me like this, “ he said, smirking. “I know, just put on this,“ she handed him a towel. Masking her smile with a tough tone. “First, I need a kiss.” “Seriously, God, why did you let me get married to such a crazy man,“ still looking the other way. “Because you love this crazy man,“ he went closer to her. “First the towel.” “Nop the kiss first, no compromises.” Maria spun swiftly, closing her eyes that Trevor barely noticed. Then she kissed him passionately, rubbing her lips on his. He groaned, his mouth bursting with a tingling excitement that made his eyes roll backward. And neither of them breathed for an interminable second. “Happy? Now your turn put on this,“ she said, blushing. He took the towel and r***d it around his waist. And they both left the bathroom silently. Trevor wore a black pique polo shirt. Deuce vibe shorts and brown leather Santorini slides. They climbed down the stairs and moved to the dining table to have breakfast. After thirty minutes they finished eating and Maria cleared the table. The house was sparkling with too much cleaning she indeed knew who to clean a house. When you smell the fragrance, you would feel like you are in heaven. Trevor left the dining table and went to sit on a couch. He turned on the TV. Went straight to Netflix and selected the last witch hunter. Maria came with popcorns as if she knew it was movie time. She went and sat close to Trevor, leaning on his chest. Good times, but they were yet to see the worst. ******** “Sebastian!” A tall blonde man called who I presumed was his boss. Sebastian went close to him and the man went on, “you are let again, do you want me to cut down your salary?” “No, sir. There was a problem at home, and there was a lot of traffic today. I’m really sorry, sir.” “You always have a pardon for everything, don’t you? Anyway, we will continue later. You can go and start your work,“ he said, seeming to have eased down. “Alright sir,“ and he went trotting to his office. Time went by Sebastian working as hard as he could the bank was very busy that day. Maria and Trevor spent the day watching television, catching up on their favorite series. And for some reason, I thought they were fans of the fantasy genre because all the series and movies they watched had a bit of fantasy element to it. Around twenty hours, Seb knocked off. Before he could leave his office, his phone rang. He drew it from his pocket. Trevor was calling. “Hey man, I was even about to call, ” Sebastian wheezed as he answered the phone. “Yeah, every time you are about to call, ” Trevor said casually. “No, seriously, man. I was.” “Whatever. Anyway, that is not why I called. Are you still at the office? Or you came up with a lame excuse that only your big-headed boss seems to believe, ” he said sarcastically. “They are not lame excuses, dude, or maybe a bit. And I’m just shutting off. I had to work extra hours for coming late.” “Excellent. Can you come over? I have to tell you something, ” he said with a slightly flat tone. Seb waited, debating on what he would have done. Go over to Trevor’s house or not. Then he eventually spoke with a frosty tone, “can’t you tell me over the phone? I’m exhausted I need to rest man.” “Maria is preparing muffins.” “I will be there in an hour or less.” “Jackass. So you only follow food here right?” He chuckled. “No moron. Or else I wouldn’t have been there when Maria was out of town. But I need nice food and Maria’s muffins are just the thing,” he was grinning. “Alright, you made your point, just hurry.” “Yeah, yeah. I will be right there, ” and he hung up the phone. Without packing his files and his laptop properly in his bag, he left the office. Leaving a bundle of papers on his table. He went outside waiting for a taxi. Five minutes later the same guy who drove him to woke arrived. And Seb entered the car and sat on the passenger’s seat. “Take me to Trevor’s place, man.” The drive didn’t reply, and I think Sebastian guessed the guy needed more info because he went on, “the same bastard I was with the time you took us to his place.” “Alright hold on tight sir, this will be a bumpy ride, ” he smirked. “Also, play some music,” Sebastian added. And the man drove at hyper-speed. ******** “You know I’m not making muffins why did you lie to him?” Maria spoke. “Muffins obsess Seb. So what better way to make him bring his ass here than tell him you are making muffins.” “And when he gets here and finds zero muffins, what are you gonna do?” “Nothing. He will eat what you are cooking.” “I don’t want you two to chase each other and mess up my elegant house T.” “Nothing of the sort will happen. I will handle him.” “If you say so. Let me check the food, ” she got up and went to the kitchen. After an hour, the door suddenly blew inwards. Trevor stood up swiftly, read in case it was Siobhan and Amell who just entered his house without knocking. “It’s just me man loosen up, “ Seb said, lifting his hands in the air. “Couldn’t you have knocked or rung the bell? You startled me, “ Trevor scolded, sitting down and proceeded watching the movie. “Every time you tell that, do I ever do it?” “Mmm...No, “ “Exactly, “ and he trotted straight to the dining table, leaving Trevor on the couch watching. He touched the lid of a white serving pot. But before he could see what was in there, a woman’s voice called out. “Brother-in-law, don’t touch the food before washing your hands.” “Pardon my manners. I’m just excited about your heavenly muffins, sister-in-law, “ he said excitedly. “Yeah about that……” “Can you two keep it down I’m watching here, ” Trevor groaned. Interrupting Maria. “Never mind him. And I didn’t make any muffins today,” she said keeping her tone as low as possible. “No wonder I can’t smell them. But your husband told me you were making muffins?” “Yeah, he lied so you could come as soon as possible.” “I’m gonna kill your husband today, Mary.” “He is all yours.” She spun around to leave the room. But before she was out of sight she shouted, “if you mess up my house just remember to clean,” she smiled. “Couldn’t you have knocked or rung the bell?
