CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

2275 Words
Around nine to ten, Trevor and Maria came back and found everyone sitting in the sitting room. “Are you done with your discussion already? I thought it will take you all day,” Sebastian teased. “Yes, we are done. Apparently, we had little to discuss,” Trevor replied. Maria stumbled, then leaned on the couch. “Are you ok dear?” Trevor ran and help her seat down. “Yeah, I’m fine, just feeling a little noxious,” Maria replied. “Was the discussion that intense. Respect man,” Sebastian said, grinning at Trevor. “Why do you think everything is a joke,” Natasha said and went to Maria, “are you ok, Maria?” She asked. “Yes, Natasha, though I have been feeling like this for a couple of days. I think I eat something bad,” Maria said. She took a cup of water from Emma and bowled in thanks. “Anything else apart from noxious?” Natasha asked. “Well, I have been vo........ Oh, God.” “What?” Trevor asked. “Men. Maria let us go I think I have one left when I was testing for this boy in my belly,” Natasha said and all the ladies left the room left. “What was that about?” Trevor asked. “I can’t believe you can be this stupid,” Richard said, and went to sit on the couch. “What do you mean, uncle?” Sebastian asked, and they followed Richard to the couch. “The ladies think Maria might be pregnant. I can’t believe you are my nephew,” Richard said, and took a long drag on his cigarette. “What?” Trevor stood up. “Now I get it the noxious, vomiting, and if you recall, she has been in a grim mood these past few days,” Sebastian said. Trevor began pacing. “What the hell is taking them so long?” He groaned. After a few minutes, the ladies came their expressions down in the dumps. Trevor gazed at Maria. His heart beating so loud that he thought they probably heard it. Maria went and stood close to Trevor, then hugged him so tight that one or two of his ribs cracked. “Maria, what the hell is going on?” Trevor asked. Unwrapping his hand from Maria’s waist. “You are gonna be a dad, asshole,” she grinned. “What!” He hugged her and swung her around, shouting that he was gonna be a dad. “Trevor put me down I’m not breathing,” Maria said and coughed. “Oh, sorry,” he took her and sat her on the couch. “Welcome to craving and waking up in the middle of the night to bring her water,” Sebastian said. “Shut up, you i***t. Besides, I never wake you up in the midst of the night, and if I did, it would have been fair. You don’t how heavy I feel,” Natasha said punching Sebastian on the shoulder. There was silence for a few seconds then Maria block it by asking, “Is everyone ready for the party?” “More than ever since we have more reason to celebrate now,” Trevor said and touched Maria’s stomach. “And ladies, we have to look better than the gents, ok?” Natasha asked. Maria and Emma nodded. “You have no chance,” Sebastian said. “You also, Maria, you think you have a chance?” Trevor asked. “Yeah, we are more fashionable than you gents,” Maria responded. “It’s on,” Emma said. “Yeah. Bro let us go, uncle Richard are you coming?” Trover asked. “Yeah, I’m even too bored to stay indoors.” “Where are you going?” Maria asked. “To do some training,” Trevor said, and they left the room. ********** The following morning Justine and Mutale went straight to the library, not caring they were missing lessons. Mutale took a book about types of frogs while Justine took a book about places where frogs stay. They went and sat on the tabled. “I asked my mom if something unusual happened but she said everything was fine man,” Justine said. “Yeah, my mom said the same thing,” Mutale replied. “The strange thing is that the only thing I can remember we were in fourth grade but apparently, now we are in tenth grade,” Justine spoke. “Yeah, and I dreamed about those frogs again. But this time they imprisoned both of us and I think I saw my mother there and your mother as well,” Mutale said. “Here I found something,” Justine said, and Mutale moved closer to Justine. “It says here that these kinds of frogs are very dangerous and the leave-in frog....frogsta land,” he went on. “No mention of its name?” Mutale asked. “Nope. But you have the book where we can find its name, dumbass,” Justine said. Mutale went to his chair and began perusing through the book. After thirty minutes he said, “Justine, come see this.” Just moved to Mutale. “They call these kinds of frogs the Costa Rican clown frogs, and the entrance to frogsta land is believed to be in the forbidden forest,” Mutale said. “Why is it called the forbidden forest, though? Is it written there?” Alinani asked. “No, it just says no one should go there at all.” “Let us ask Mrs. Sinkala. She is the librarian, and she looks pretty old not to know why they call that place the forbidden forest,” Justine said. They got up and went to where Mrs. Sinkala was sitting. Mrs. Sinkala was a big, beefy woman with merely any neck. That day she wore a stunning blue dress which she accessorized with a larger sunflower in her hair. She was reading a Harry Potter book. But who can blame her those books are sick. “Morning Mrs. Sinkala,” the boys spoke. “Morning boys. Aren’t you supposed to be in class?” Mrs. Sinkala asked. “No, we have a free period,” Justine lied. “Oh, ok. Do you need any help?” She asked. “Yes. Do you know anything about these frogs,” Mutale showed the picture to Mrs. Sinkala. “Yes. They are the most poisonous frogs. Why do you ask?” “Nothing in particular, and about the forbidden forest?” Justina asked. “They have forbidden because of those frogs. Your free period must be over by now, I saw you enter this library fifty minutes ago,” Mrs. Sinkala spoke. “We will go. Please, just tell us more about the frogs and the forbidden forest,” Mutale spoke. “Tell you what. Come after you knock off,” she said. “Alright Mrs. Sinkala, thank you,” they said together and rushed out of the library. ********** “I just got a call from Mr. Sinkala. He said they have changed the venue, it will be at intercontinental and because they don’t want me to miss the party, it will be a mask party where you wear masks. So that no one recognizes me and calls the police,” Trevor said, sitting for dinner. “That’s outstanding dear. And let us hope you gents are prepared to lose and pay up,” Maria said, high-fiving the ladies. “Oh, we are ready to crush you ladies,” Sebastian said. “Mr. Sinkala asked me a weird question, though. He was asking about the frogsta land,” Trevor spoke. “Why was he asking about frogsta land?” Sebastian asked. “There were two boys at the school Mrs. Sinkala’s teachers who were asking about it, and she promised to give them more information but she knew less.” “So did you tell him?” Maria asked. “Kinder,” Trevor responded. “And did he say why the boys were asking about frogsta land?” Maria asked. “No. anyway let us just enjoy dinner and stop stressing ourselves about such matters,” Trevor said, and they carried on with dinner. Trevor woke to the sound of birds singing. He jumped out of bed, brushed his teeth and face, and went downstairs. Maria had just finished eating and taken the plate to the kitchen. “Morning, man,” he said and sat beside Sebastian. “Morning,” he replied. After a few minutes, Maria came with Trevor’s breakfast. “Ouch,” Natasha screamed, touching her stomach. “Are you ok?” Sebastian asked. “Yeah, it just kicked,” she shot him a smile. “Listen, little guy, don’t bother you, mother,” Sebastian said. “I told you it’s a girl,” she said. “No, it’s a boy,” Sebastian argued. “Who is carrying the pregnancy me right and I’m the mother so I can tell. Maria, back me up please,” she looked at Maria. “It’s obvious the mother always knows the gender of the baby. So brother-in-law, the sooner you accept it the better,” she said supportively. “Thank you,” Natasha said, and they high-fived each other in the air. “But for me, it’s a boy, right, dear?” Trevor said, smiling from ear to ear at Maria. “Don’t even try. You know I always wanted a girl, so it’s a girl,” she said. “Oh, came on,” Trevor said, “anyway have you prepared the clothes I will wear at the party?” He asked. “What no. We are in a competition why would I do that and reduce the chances of us winning,” she said. “That is exactly what I told his friend,” Natasha said. Trevor looked at Sebastian in a we are so doomed way. “You are all busy enjoying each other’s company. Do you even consider that poor girl sitting in her room alone?” Uncle Richard came from nowhere. They even got startled. “Emma?” Maria and Natasha asked. “Who else?” uncle Richard replied. “Natasha let us go I think she misses her mother,” Maria said, and they left. Time flew by as if someone tampered with it so that the gentleman doesn’t get ready in time. Trevor, Sebastian, and uncle Richard came downstairs. Trevor and Sebastian both wore stunning bespoke suits, the only difference was the colors. Uncle Richard, on the other hand, wore a brown suit. His scruffy beard only emphasized his brilliantly white teeth. They all wore shiny shoes and dashing wristwatches. They seemed to smirk with amazement. The ladies were already done. Maria wore a tight blue dinner dress that made her look daring and commanding. Her thick, now curled hair drenched down her shoulders. She completed the look with sparkly sandals. Natasha wore a loose but rather elegant designers dress. A beautiful golden necklace and slightly high-heeled shoes. Finally, Emma. The young lady wore a very short dress that sat way above her knees. Black high-heeled shoes. She tied her hair in a ponytail, coated with sparkling hair spray. The gentleman’s jaws dropped. “Don’t drop your teeth,” Maria said sarcastically. “Please,” Trevor said. “Let us not even worst time it’s pretty clear that we have won,” Emma said. “Who said you won?” Sebastian said. “Your jaws,” Natasha said, and they left, leaving the boys talking to themselves. ********** “Amell, are you ready?” Siobhan asked. “Yes Siobhan,” Amell said. “Charles, are you coming?” Siobhan asked. “No. The boy no longer possesses the ring. So I don’t see any point in going,” Charles replied. “But can we go?” Alinani spoke. “Yeah, you can go, just don’t drink too much. Siobhan, you have to watch these bastards,” Charles said. “They won’t even have time for that, we are going for business and nothing more,” Siobhan replied. He turned to face his underdogs. “Are you all read?” “Yes!” they shouted. “Good, don’t forget what we planned,” Siobhan said. Siobhan and Amell went to their tent, probably doing the last touch-up. “Is, Mr. and Mrs. Sinkala ready?” Siobhan asked. “Yes, they are. I sent two men to bring them to the party. I’m sure they are on their way there,” Amell responded. “Good,” Siobhan said, smirking excitedly. ********** Mutale sneaked out of the house, got to his bike, and went to Justine’s place. When he reached, he parked his bike and went to Justine’s bedroom window. He knocked, and Justine opened up. “It’s about time,” Justine said, moving to his table. “Well, it wasn’t easy to sneak out, man,” Mutale spoke. “Whatever. Let us just go through this one last time before we go to the forbidden forest.” “Sure,” was all Mutale said and went to the table as well.
