13. Raven I ran without looking back and as fast as I could, my heart thumping so hard in my chest that I thought it might pop out, but I had to keep moving. 'Run as fast as you can!' I thought I heard someone say that, but I didn’t have the time or luxury to listen, so I ignored the voice and kept running. Occasionally, I turned back to see if anyone was following me, then continued. 'Increase the speed.' That voice again, one I didn’t recognize, kept encouraging me. My body was about to give out because it wasn’t strong, not after everything that had happened to me. But I didn’t stop. I pushed through the pain and exhaustion, and in no time, I was outside the pack’s territory. Luckily, the southern gate wasn’t locked, and so, I got lucky and rushed out.
