13. Raven I lay on the cold, filthy ground, the stench of blood and rotting flesh filling my nose and choking my lungs. Every breath burned. My limbs felt like they were made of stone; heavy, useless. The chains around my wrists were tight, biting into my torn flesh, crusted with dried blood. The pain was constant now, an old companion. It no longer surprised me. It didn't even make me flinch. My muscles ached, stiff from disuse, from days, or was it weeks? - spent in this pit. I didn’t know anymore. Time didn’t exist in this place. Only darkness and unending gloom. Only the silence. Only the torment…. And my constant companion, the pain. My eyes blinked open slowly, but there was no light.
