Chapter 19

Drake POV

I woke up from another dream of Nelly. This one was different. It was not the usual sweet nor the sexy ones, it was bad. She was far away and whenever I tried to get to her she kept getting away.

I tiredly get out of bed, take a shower and decided to call Steve to give him the updates.

Steve:"Dan, how is Brooklyn?!"

Drake:"It's going alright. It's safe"

Steve:"What's up man? you sound tired"

Drake:"Didn't get much sleep last night that's all. Was with Jason at a bar"

Steve:"He trusting you yet?"

Drake:"Not fully. But I'm getting somewhere. There has been a little complication yesterday but I managed"

Steve:"OK, make sure to put a use to that tracker if things got out of control"

Drake:"Yeah sure. Listen, Can you send me a fake police badge?"

Steve:"Uuuh I can but, do I need to be worried?"

Drake:"No, All good. I have a new lead and I might get somewhere with it. I don't know yet"

Steve:"OK, I'll send you the electronic copy on your phone in few minutes"

Drake:"Thanks man"

Steve:"Any progress with the girl?"

As Steve asked I closed my eyes and sighed. I don't want to talk about it. Nelly is distracting me enough and this distraction could get me or Mike killed.

Drake:"No"

Steve:"OK, Iceman, Make sure to check with me every once and a while"

I hang up with Steve and in few minutes he sent the badge on my phone like he said.

I got Lilly's number and gave her a call to meet up. I hope she has any information that could help me on this mission.

Lilly:"Hello"

Drake:"Hey, fireball"

Lilly:"huh, where should we meet?"

Drake:"Meet me at a coffee shop in thirty minutes. I'll send you the address"

Lilly:"Fine but, so you know I have a gun so, any funny business and I'm aiming at your balls"

Drake:"Hahahahaha, I'll keep that in mind fireball. See you in thirty minutes"

After I hang up with Lilly I send her the address of a coffee shop away from the usual resistance hanging out spots. I already have a cover story in case any of them spotted us together but, still I don't want to put her in danger.

Thirty minutes later I'm at the coffee shop waiting for Lilly while drinking my coffee, I need all the caffeine in the world to be able to handle this fireball.

Lilly:"Your proof"

Drake:"Have a seat first. People are looking"

She rolls her eyes at me and sits down with a huff and I fight back my laugh.

I take out my phone and show her the badge Steve sent me. She frowned at first and started studying it to make sure it wasn't fake. I trust Steve's work 100%, even an expert wouldn't know that it's a fake.

Lilly:"OK, You're legit"

Drake:"Glad we got that covered, So why did you want to meet?"

Lilly:"You told me that you're gathering evidence against the resistance. I have a video from the dinner I'm working at surveillance"

Drake:"What video?"

Lilly:"Couple of weeks ago those thugs came to the dinner to collect the protection fees and we didn't have enough. Sally the owner was there, they wanted to trash the dinner as a punishment but one guy opposed to it. While they were arguing Sally went and got her shot gun. One guy was going to shoot her but the other guy who opposed to trashing the dinner got shot instead. It's literally a murder"

Drake:"I don't know Lilly if no one from the leaders was there in this video it's not gonna help much"

Lilly:"But you can arrest the guys who were there and put pressure on them till they squirm"

Drake:"If you had this video why didn't you go to the police with it?"

Lilly:"Hahahahahah, Really?! You don't know that the resistance have the NYPD in their pockets. But when you told me that you're undercover I figured that some other leadership is not on the resistance payroll if they bothered to send a cop undercover. That's why I giving it to you"

Drake:"OK, Show me the video"

She got her phone and handed it to me. I played the video. It had no audio so I can't make out what they were saying but, their faces are clearly showing. I paled when I saw a face I know very well "MIKEY!!!".

Lilly:"OK, it's gonna happen now"

My eyes widen when I see Mikey get shot. "s**t, He got shot, a bullet can't kill us that's for sure but, what the hell happened to him?".

I swallow the gulp in my throat and hold my hands from shaking. She said this video was a couple of weeks ago, that's the time Mikey went dark.

Lilly:"So, is it going to work?"

Drake:"Uuuh, It's very helpful. I need to send this to my leadership immediately. Thank you so much Lilly. I'll be in touch. Take care"

Before she could say anything I sent the video to my phone and run out of the coffee shop and go back to my motel.

I don't pay any attention to horney and head to my room to call Steve.

Steve:"Dan, how is Brooklyn?!"

Drake:"It's going alright. It's safe. Steve, I'm sending you a video now, the date and the timing of it are mentioned in it. I'll send you the location where this video has been taken. Check the traffic cams or anything that could lead where the people went after leaving.

Steve:"Whoa, hold your horses, What video?"

Drake:"You'll understand when you watch it...."

Few minutes went by and Steve was quietly watching the video.

Steve:"They shot him, is he dead? is that why you can't mind link him? Oh my god Mikey is dead?

Drake:"Steve, calm down let's not panic and jump to conclusions"

Steve:"WHAT DO YOU MEAN JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS, THEY SHOT HIM"

Drake:"STEVE!! Please man, do as I asked and get a grip"

I can hear Steve taking few breathes to calm down and think clearly.

Steve:"OK, I got the location, I'll see what I can do and call you back... I have to report this to John and Serge."

Drake:"I know but, let's all not panic, I'll do everything to get to Mikey. Remember if he's dead we would have felt it through the bond. I think they are holding him somewhere and keeping him weak that's why I can't mind link him"

Steve:"Right, You're right, he's alive"

After I hang up with Steve I lay down in my bed and plan my next step to getting Mikey back. Half an hour Steve calls me back.

Drake:"Steve, how did it go?"

Steve:"Yeah, after they shot him they took him in a car and drove away, I tracked them down through traffic cams till they reached a remote area. There's no surveillance coverage there that I could hack but, that area has few warehouses. You'll have to go there and check them out hopefully he'll be in one of them. John and Serge are coming later, we'll have a meeting to discuss the next step"

Drake:"What do you mean next step? I'll go there and get Mikey"

Steve:"Serge said to tell you not to do anything. Just confirm that one of those warehouses belongs to the resistance and don't engage"

Drake:"What the hell man?!!!"

Steve:"Drake man please, don't jump this blindly, it could cost you and Mikey your lives"

Drake:"OK, I'll wait for the orders, send me the location"

After I end the call with Steve I sighed and wiped my face.

"Hang on a little longer Mikey, I'm on my way"
