Chapter 14: Heartbroken Moments

POV GABBY***

"You what?" Dustin asks as he puts me down on the side of the pool. 

Oh god I've f****d up. "Dustin I love you, we've been best friends for years, you're like family to me". After choking out the last part of that sentence I feel my chest tighten and my heart break. 

He laughs "oh god I thought you were gonna say you were in love with me because I am not in love with you at all. You're also not my type and that would have been awkward". He laughs as he pushes his hair back. He leans down to kiss me and I turn my head. He begins to kiss me neck as I look down and allow my tears to fall. 

    I look up and make eye contact with Max who gives me a sad look. I push Dustin off of me and smile. 

"What's wrong he asks?" I laugh as I touch his shoulder. "I am tired and drunk I am just going to go to bed"

"I thought you wanted to continue what we were doing earlier?" he asks as I get out of the pool. "I am not your type, what can I say. You know even if we were just f*****g you could have been not an asshole about that". I say after I turn and walk away. I walk into the house and hear the loud moans coming from upstairs. 

I sigh and rub my face in my hands. I walk to the kitchen and grab a bottle of water. I go to the front door and lock it. After locking it I walk up stairs to my bedroom, right next to my room I hear the screams and moan of Alexis. I bang on her door "We get it you're having s*x now shut the f**k up". I walk into my room and slam my door shut, I slide down my door as I eyes water. I pull my face into my eyes and I begin to cry.

I pull my knees to my chest and feel my heart shatter. I gave my heart to the wrong person again, I knew what he wanted and just wanted to be but I let him break it. My eyes begin to feel heavy as I close them and let the darkness consume me. 

POV DUSTIN***

After Gabby walked away I looked at Ryland and Max who were staring at my applaud. "What?" Max shakes his head and gets out of the pool and calls for Gabby. I look at Ryland who stands up and walks up to the pool. "Wait what did I do wrong?" Ryland turns to look at me.

 "Do you know what Gabby has been through?" I nod and he shakes his head. "You're f*****g stupid then she is literally in love with you, anybody could tell from the way her expressions changed". I feel my chest tighten as regret takes over with the way I treated Gabby. "Ryland I don't do relationships though".

    "Then you have to talk to Gabby and stop having s*x with her". Ryland says then walks away. 

    I shake my head and get out of the pool. I dry off and get dressed. After getting dressed I walk inside the house and look for my keys. "You're not driving tonight little bro". I turn around and see Thomas holding my keys. "I am fine I am not drunk I sobered up". He shakes his head and put them in his pocket. "Fine" I say as I walk towards the guest room in the basement. I open the door and crash on the bed. 

POV GABBY***

I wake up to the sun shining in my eyes, I feel very cold and stiff. I stand up from the floor and stretch, I sigh and make my way to the bathroom. After I shower and get dressed in grey sweats and a black Tee I put on my vans and walk out of my room to go downstairs. I grab my phone from the counter along with my car keys. "where are you going". I turn in shock as my wet hair smacks Max in the face. 

"Ow" I smile awkwardly. "Sorry, and I am going to get breakfast burritos for everyone". he nods as I turn and walk away to the garage. "can I come?" I turn to see Max leaning up against the counter. "sure let's go I'll drive". He nods as he follows me out. 

    I hope into the car as Max hopes into the passenger seat. I pull out of the garage as an awkward presence fills the cars. I turn on the radio as the music fills the car. Max turns off the music as he looks at me. 

"Are we not going to talk about last night?" I shake my head. "What's there to talk about?" I say as I pull in to my favorite Mexican restaurant. I get out of the car and walk towards the window. I order 8 breakfast burritos and pay.  A couple minutes later they call my name and I grab them. 

I walk back to my car and hand them to Max. "Thank you". He nods his head as I pull out of the parking lot. "Gabby we need to talk about what happened last night". I shake my head. "there's nothing to talk about because nothing happened". 

    "Gabby you confused your feelings to Dustin and he was an ass about it". I shake my head

"No he wasn't he was honest and he's never gonna know how I feel because it's over no more s*x just friends. I can do that If him and I aren't going to be anything I don't want to be hurt anymore". I pull into the garage as I grab the box of food and get out. I close the garage and walk inside to everyone sitting around the counter laughing and drinking coffee. "I brought breakfast". 

I put the food on the table as everyone digs in as I go to walk up stairs. "Gabby aren't you going to eat?" I shake my head, I have work in an hour, I have to go get ready. I walk up the stairs as I hear Dustin call my name "Gabby" . I turn around and see him leaning against the wall. 

    "what Dustin?" he sighs and pulls me into my room. "We need to talk". I nod and go into my bathroom and pull my clothing for my job out. I work at Gatsby mainly on the weekends and some days out of the week. I get dressed in my dress for the diner. It has blue and white on it,  grab my name tag from my closet and put it on.  I brush out my hair and decide to let it air dry, I put on my slip on white vans. After brushing my teeth and putting on my deodorant and perfume I walk out to Dustin sitting on my bed. 

"So what's up?" he sighs. "Gabby, we need to end what we are doing". I sit down next to him and put my hands in his. 

    "You mean stop having s*x?" he nods his head and stands up. "yes we can't do it anymore because you caught feelings and it's becoming too complicated". I laugh 

    After I finish laughing hysterically Dustin looks at me like I am crazy. "Ahhh I always loved how naive  you were, I didn't catch feelings I've always had. I couldn't agree with you more, we need to stop f*****g, and probably being friends in general". I say as I smile and walk away. 

    As I am walking down the stairs I hear Dustin calling after me. "Gabriella I know you're in denial that you aren't in love with me but we need to work this out so you can get over this and get over the fact that Angelo cheated on you and left to be with someone else". I freeze in my tracks as I look up and see Max with his friends and Alexis staring at Dustin with wide eyes. I turn around as I feel a tear from my eyes drop as I walk up to Dustin. 

    "You know what Dusty. I was just f*****g you to feel some sort of physical connection to the world again. Everyone deserves to be loved in some sort of way, and I believed in my f****d up situations this is how I was meant to be loved. But you know what Dustin you can go f**k yourself". After I say that I turn to walk away but  Dustin grabs my left arm. So with my right arm I punch him right in the face. 

    "You lost all right to touch me in any shape or form when you said that". Dustin falls on to the stairs and Alexis rushes to him. 

    "I'll be back after work goodbye". I say as I walk out the door to my car. 

    As I step inside my car. I brush away my tears and pull out of the garage. 

    I see Max standing outside signaling me to come back but I shake my head and pull out of the neighborhood. 

After about 25 minutes I make it to the resort's garage, after I park and grab all my stuff I get out of my car. After locking my car I walk towards the elevator, after the elevator chimes I get out and walk towards Gatsby's. 

 "Hey Sam what's up?" I say as I enter the back room where the lockers are. Sam sits down on the bench as I open my locker. I put away my bag and grab my apron, after I grab my apron I put my phone in the front pocket. "word on the street right now John is supposed to call Ava when you get here because she needs to see you". I turn around and see Jack on the phone near the front of the locker room. "f**k". 

    "Hey cover my shift I am out of here". I say as I throw my apron back in the locker and grab my bag. I walk out of Gatsby's and walk towards Ava's office. I see the security guard as he talks into his walkie talkie about seeing me. "You can go up to Ms. Gabriella". I nod as I say thank you. 

    After the elevator crimes I got excited and walked towards Ava's office. I knock and after hearing a come in I walk inside and see the two people I'd never thought to see again. 

    "Mom and Dad?"
