Later that day, I was able to get out of bed and walk around the village. I was still sore all over and my head was a bit fuzzy, but I didn’t want to stay in bed or sit in that room any longer.
Apparently, we lived in caves that dotted the side of a tall cliff encircling a small cove. We lived on land and spent a lot of time in the sea. Jarleth had explained that our skin needed moisture regularly or it became too dry, so that explained my need for moisturiser.
There were people staring at me wherever we went and it unnerved me. Especially when none of their faces were familiar. I needed to find somewhere where I could take in my surroundings without feeling like I was in a side show.
They all kept their distance. Maybe they’d been told not to overwhelm me. To give me some space.
