8. Questions, answers and secrets

I decided to wait and was patiently hearing what he wanted to say.

“Every thousand year is one of you chosen by oracle to come to this world. Long time ago the Oracle gave us prophecies that only if you come to this world, we would be able to disclose and defeat the enemy who was patiently waiting for centuries in the shadows. If we had failed both our worlds would have been destroyed.”

Damn! I didn't expect that oracle had something to do with all of that. It was getting to be really interesting.

There was only one creature in the world that was totally out of anyone's control and it was the oracle. It was our fault that oracle existed.

Our parents created from darkness demons, werewolves and vampires and other creatures of shadows. The reason was that they wanted just to have a fun. They manipulated and watched them arguing, fighting, conspiring and killing each other for centuries. It was so entertaining for them so they decided to created more and more creatures. The darkness was on its rise.

We saw that the world has changed and all those creatures have been manipulated by our parents to fight in the great war. In this war our parents wanted to figure out who was actually better. They totally forgot that the world could be destroyed if they had kept going.

We had no other choice only to create some powerful being from the light to keep the world in balance. What we were not expecting was that this entity was not able to be controlled. As a child of the light the oracle was a portal through which the gods spoke directly with the people and they could predict the future as well. This was known by all beings. What they didn’t know was that oracle had other abilities too. No one except of us knew that. We kept that in a secret from oracle too, just to be sure that it stayed safe. Oracle was too powerful, maybe just too powerful.

The oracle was created from our blood and it had power to destroy us. No one could imagine what could happen then.

Without fate the world would have been lead to the chaos.

We knew that we created something too dangerous, unpredictable and uncontrollable but we hadn’t other choice.

And the worst part came when we figured out that we couldn’t saw the life-thread as well as the future of the oracle. It was like it has not existed. It was like a black hole and that was for us the goddess of fate just too terrifying.

To protect the world and to stop our parents we created something way too dangerous than darkness itself that we knew for sure, but it was too late.

We decided to keep it hidden in the human world hoping that it will be never used against us.

So when he mentioned oracle it gave me goosebumps because every time when oracle was involved it haven't ended well.

“The oracle saved my live because she needed a fearless and devoted leader. I was half dead when she found me and gave me a drop of her blood. She told me that I will live like a ghost and no one will know that I will be alive. She was hidding me until the day when she told me that it was now the time to stop hiding. Together we created this academy for every creature on this world. We were waiting for your coming and now you are here and we are preparing to defeat the darkness.” he ended mysteriously his speech.

Well it was worst than I thought.

The oracle created my own destiny! He was messing up with my life and was using me as a pawn to lurk ancient evilness. My head was spinning out. I had to take a rest because it was just too much for me.

I still haven't found all answers however on the other hand I had many others so I told him little bit exhausted:

“We are not done. I have other questions but I need to take a rest for a while. My head is spinning off from shifting and from those news. I heard today too much so I need a bit of time. I can reassure you that we will continue with our conversation as soon as possible.”

“Oh yes indeed. It was a hectic day for you. It is a quite incredible that you are still standing on your own feet considering that you are now the only human here. So we can talk tomorrow again after you take some rest.” he noded and he came closer to me so I stepped aside. I was still not convinced that he was trustful.

“Don’t worry I will not hurt you. You know it by yourself that I had plenty of opportunities to kill you but I didn’t do it. You doesn’t have to believe or trust me but you can trust yourself! I have something for you and you will definitely need it here. Here, that is for you.” he came closer and he gave me a beautiful ring with weird black stone.

“What’s this?” I asked suspiciously. I knew that I shouldn’t trust nobody including him if I wanted to survive. Trust needs to be earned and he hadn't proven that he deserved it so for now I had to stay aware, just in case.

He saw that he still didn’t convince me that he would not harm me so he took a deep breath and explained:

“It’s an enchanted ring from black spinel. You are here as a human in this academy full of vampires, werewolfs, demons and other creatures. They have various abilities. They know that using abilities on other students is not allowed but it’s hard to prove if something like that would happen. To keep you safe I got this ring for you but you should never take it off. With this ring the mind compulsion as well as mind reading will be impossible.”

Oh! I started to be nervous. I forgot on mind reading (how stupid from me) and I was few hours without protection so who knows what the others already knew.

“Stay calm! As I said using abilities is prohibited. I suppose that no one was playing with your mind till now. If someone had used on you such a skill, you would have definitely felt it. You are only human now but you have some abilities too. One of them is that you can feel if someone uses forcibly the power on you.”

He saw that I wanted to ask how the hell is possible that he was so informed and of course I wanted to know more about my other abilities but he added:

“Everything what I know is from oracle and she told me that you need to figure out your other abilities yourself. It’s your journey so I can’t tell you more.”

Shit! The oracle knew more than me! Nice! I had some abilities to find out out and already so many tasks to do that I was not able do it in this short human life.

I sighed. I knew that my life in this world will not be easy but I didn’t expect that I would be so busy with everything.

Now I realized that his gift was really priceless but I was still doubtful whether to take it or not. He was right. I should take it because today I forgot more than twice that I was only a human and who knows what could have happened if someone would have really read my mind.

Whether I liked it or not he was right. I definitely couldn’t expose myself. There were no other choises for me how to protect myself. But I knew that there was nothing like free gifts so I asked him:

“And what do you expect from me for this gift?”

“Nothing! Just take it as a welcome gift.” he said in hurry.

I raised my eyebrows and he saw that I was not convinced at all so he told me:

“It is not a gift just for you. I need to protect myself as well. I can’t let you to expose myself. I am still for everyone dead and I need to stay it that way. Therefore please accept this so we could both stay safe.”

His explanation made sense so I said:

“Ok, I’ll take it.”

I took the ring and was on my way to find my dormitory. I almost touched the handle on the door when he stopped me:

“Ehmm just last thing before you go. You should stay away from Miss Donnoven and from her friends.”

For a second I stayed frozen.

“Are you threatening me now?” I asked him. I hated when someone was saying me what should I do especially when it came to threats.

“No of course I am not threatening you! It was only a small advice to help you with your assimilation in this school. Miss Donnoven is extraordinary but too unpredictable creature and believe me you have no idea what she is capable of. You on the other hand are only human now.” he said to me quietly.

“Maybe I am human now but don’t forget that just my body is a human and my mind is still mind of an ancient goddess. I am still able to choose by myself who could be my friend and who will be my enemy so there is no chance that I will listen to you, but thanks for your advice.” I said to him ironically.

I thought that this topic was closed but he continued as I said nothing:

“You are only few hours here so you don’t know who she really is and who are her friends. She as well as her fiends are too dangerous! They are known as royals and everyone keeps distance from them and it’s not just because of they social status only so you should be wise as well and stay away from them.”

“Just because the others are scared of them I will not avoid them! Maybe they are royals but I am the goddess of fate so they present the same danger as I. They did nothing to me so far, so I will not judge them just by your saying.”

He sighed and tried to convince me again:

“You don’t know how wrong you are now! Maybe I should try to explain it more so you will understand.”

I started to being annoyed. I knew that he is willing to tell me his opinion no matter what so I just rolled my eyes and waited till he told me what he wanted.

“Like I said they are royals so it means that they are pure blooded descendants of first vampires, demons and werwolfs. They gained their strengh, their abilities and much more. Everyone of them will inherit a kingdom. Your friend Elorien is a future queen of demons, but it seems that you already knew it! Gabriel is the future king of the werewolves, Azrael and his sister Amythiel are royal twins and one of them will be future vampire monarch. Do you understand now that you need to avoid them as much as possible? You came here as weak human. Here you are not a fate goddess so you don’t have your powers here. I just wanted to protect you because if something happens to you,....”

“I thought that only the fate goddess or the oracle could see the future. Who would tell that the famous minotaur has the same ability as they!”

I didn’t let him finish his advice because it was just to much for me and I started to laugh. It was a sarcastic laugh and it was a little bit unapropriate but I couldn’t do anything else.

“Are you aware that you are a Minotaur? Thanks to you many people have been killed in the Labyrinth! For me the most dangerous creature is you and still I am here talking to you.” I said when I stopped laughing to catch my breath.

“Like you said maybe I am not wise enough to choose who will stay close to me and who not, but thanks for your advice.”

And then I just opened the door and walked away and I left him with his thoughts alone.
