Joey
Joey had just pulled into the gym parking lot, it was 5:45 am he always worked out before work it helped ease his mind. His life looked great from the outside but that was far from the truth, his marriage had been falling apart for the last few years, but no one but his parents and siblings knew about that and that was how he had planned to keep it. Since they had a son together he doesn't want to avoid raising him in different homes so he put up with his wife and would keep doing just that till he couldn't anymore. He had considered getting a divorce about a year ago, Camilla his wife had been out of the country for about 6 months, her family was from Brazil so she would leave for months on end to visit them or that's what she would tell him.
After one of these trips he had found a few texts on her phone from some guy, at first, he was mad but then he wasn't because this wasn't the first time she had been with someone else. At the time he was over it, how many times do you let your wife sleep with someone else before you call it quits, after talking to his brother Jackson about it he thought it was best not to, she was out of town 90% of the time so they agreed to be civil with each other when she was home.
Getting out of his car he grabbed his gym bag and headed inside to the locker room to change and put his bag up before he got to his workout. Walking past the front desk he smiles at the girl behind the desk who is eye f**king him. This wasn't anything new to him, he was a good-looking man even now in his 40s he caught their gaze. If he had the time he may have tried to f**k her but this he didn't so he kept walking.
After he got changed he grabbed his headphones and put on some music, he headed to lift some weights first then he do a few miles on the treadmill. He was 30 minutes into his workout when he got a call, it was his father and he already knew it wasn't good if he was calling this early.
He loved his dad but they didn't see eye to eye on everything not to mention he still treated him like he was a kid and not a grown man. He never say that to his dad nor did he think his dad did it purposely but unfortunately that was part of their relationship. Answering his phone knowing he had no other choice, “Hey dad is everything okay?” at first, had didn't hear anything maybe he butt-dialed him, “No! Joey it's not, I need you to get to the office as soon as possible, someone missed a whole order and now we don't have enough to fill it, this does not make us look good when we drop the ball like this, this is his we loose business and create a bad name for our business!”
His father yells from the other end, taking a deep breath and muting his phone so his dad can't hear him while he goes on his little rant. This happened every time something went wrong, he always go off before he had all the facts and this made dealing with him hard. Once his dad was done talking he took himself off mute,
“ Yea, I'm at the gym now so let me shower, and ill be right there.”
He said hoping this would please his dad for now.
“Okay I'll see you in an hour.”, he said before hanging up.
Putting his phone back into his pocket he headed to the shower in the locker room, he have to come back on his lunch or something to get in the rest of his workout and something told him by that call he would need to come back.
Getting some soap and a towel he headed into the shower, he decided to take his time and enjoy the hot water washing over his body. Relaxing after he washed off the grim from his workout, he let his back rest against the cool wall of the shower and the water wash down his body. It was going to be a long day and he was already looking forward to it being over. After a few more minutes he turn off the water and wrapped the towel around his waist.
As he passed by the mirror, he looked at his reflection. He was lean with a 6 pack, he wasn't overly muscular but he was fit, he had dark brown hair he had grown out a bit, his body was covered in tattoos something his parents were not happy about but he didn't care. Getting dressed and grabbing his bag from his locker he headed back to his car, mentally preparing himself for whatever was about to happen at work.
~~~~~~ later that day ~~~~~~
Joey had been hard at work since he got there, after seeing his dad and getting the details of what was going on he got working on fixing it. He had just finished taking care of the order that was missed and headed to his dad's office to let him know it had been found and taken care of. As he was walking down the hall to his dad’s office he had gotten a text from his wife, she was coming home in the next week or so and wanted to remind him.
Rolling his eyes because he would never forget when she was coming home, he knew when his life was about to be miserable.
Not paying attention to anything else he ended up colliding with someone knocking them to the ground,
“I am so sorry, I did not see you.”
he said after landing on his a**.
The other person response was far from what he expected, she was laughing as papers laid around her ones she was probably carrying when he had run into her.
Gaining her composure, she smiled at him, “it's okay I wasn't watching where I was going, sir.”she said as she started picking up the papers.
She was beautiful and short that's probably why he didn't see her, she couldn't be more than 5ft if that, her hair was a little past her shoulders, she had the ends dyed purple. She had sun-kissed skin and the most beautiful eyes.
”I think I am just as guilty, I wasn't looking.” he said as he helped her pick up the papers. Handing her what he had picked up then offered his hand to help her to her feet. Taking her hand in his letting him pull her to her feet, he thought to himself “God her hands were soft and fit perfect in his.”
He looked her up and down one last time before letting go, completely missing the feel of her hand.
“Thank you, you so didn't have to help but I'm so thankful you did anyways.”, she said smiling at him.
Smiling back at her, “It was my pleasure.”
“Good god could he sound anymore like a fool,”he said to himself but she unaware of the small awkwardness maybe it was all just in his head.
He could stand here the rest of the day looking at her. Her eyes were his favorite, they were oval-shaped, not too big but not too small. She had brown eyes with speaks of green and orange.
Completely lost in her eyes he hadn't noticed the awkward silence. Clearing her through,
”well I should be on my way, it was nice running into you.”
she then slide past him without another word. Before he could register what was going on she was gone.
What on earth just happened and who was that girl, he thought to himself as he walked into his father's office.
“It's about time you're here, have you fixed that order issue?”, his father asked him.
“Yes it's all been taken care of and everything is back on track.”, taking a set at one of the chairs in front of his desk.
“Good, good I knew you take care of it, I never have to worry about things when you're taking care of them.” his father said to him,
“so how is that wife of yours, is she still out of town?”
his father knew things hadn't been going well between them but he hadn't told his parents the fine details all they knew was that they were no longer happy together and choose to spend most of their apart from each other. He didn't want to go into detail with them about his marriage, they were from a different time and believe in sticking together and working it out, loved was learned over time and effort.
He just saw things differently than they did and vs getting into a fight over things he kept his thoughts and ideas to himself, it was just easier to fall within their lines than to go against them and to tell his father of all people about where his marriage stood, that would just add to the already growing problems he was facing.
“She doing okay from what I have heard, not sure when she coming back. You know her she always loved being with her family back home.”
The sour look he noticed on his father's face as he spoke told him just how much he was displeased with his response.
“She seems to be gone more and more these days.”
his father's way of trying to push for more information without asking directly what he wanted to know.
“You know Camilla, she does as she pleases, I'm sure she will be back soon,” he said in the hope his father would leave it at that.
“ your right son, she has always been a free spirit,” his father said smiling to himself.
His father has always had a soft spot for her which only added to the million reasons why he didn't tell his father of his wife's betrayal.
Shifting in his chair, he folds his arms over his chest waiting for his father to finish up so he can leave his office and get on with the rest of his day, maybe find out who that woman was he ran into, she has been making space in the back of his mind while he been sitting here.
Clearing his throat his father brings his attention back to him.
“I wanted to talk with you, as you know your mother and I have been wanting to take a step back from the business. Now I told your mother I wasn't ready to completely retire but I would be open to cutting back my workload.”
his face held no emotions but it rarely did. “She finally wearing you out hun?”
creaking a smile, his dad had always been about the business and his mother had always supported that.
“Joey you know your mother, she is the sweetest woman she just wants to spend extra time together in our older age.”
Giving a small smile back at his dad, his father loved his mother even if that's now how it was in the beginning. “It’s about time you give into her demands dad.”
When he was younger his father wasn’t much of a joker not that he wasn’t a loving father but business was what his father was all about and that came with an image he felt he had to uphold. “Well Joey sooner or later I’ll have to set back why wait any longer, you and your siblings are more that ready to take cover and I truly believe you all will do quite well.”
It wasn’t often his father opened up like this to him let along tell him he had faith in all of them, his father just wasn’t like this but as he got older he become softer, honestly Joey never thought he see the day where his old man would open up. Before he pushed him to much he gave his father a quick smile and said,
“I gotta get back to work dad on less you need anything else?”
he had spent enough time in his father's office and didn't want to spend any more time nor give his father more opportunities to pry into his personal life and that was the last thing he wanted.
“No your free to go, son, email me a copy of that report for that order for my records.”
Joey got to his feet and headed for the door,” I'll send that right over once I get to my office, talk later dad.”
he said as he opened the door, his father had already tuned him out and gone back to his computer picking back up where he had left off with his reports.
Walking back to his office, he finally had a minute to download what happened minutes before he went into his dad's office. That girl, she was different, the way she spoke and acted was so carefree and held a form of honesty. She didn't seem effect by him at all, which was odd to him most girls flirted with him but not her she was just honestly sweet. She had to know who he was it’s not like he wasn’t talk of the office, those woman loved to gossip and he was there #1 storyline and she seamed not to even recognize him.
As the day carried on he kept the thoughts of her in the bad of his mind, was he crazy why couldn’t he just shake her.
Frustrated he decided to go check in on his mother, she would be a good distraction from his ridiculous mind.
His mother was the head of the customer service department, while myself and my siblings took sections of production, they worked like a well oiled machine together, his younger brother would place all the orders for the product we needed their sister handled the inventory and update of anything and he supervised the employees who would produce and packaged their products.
No one would of guessed when they were younger they would be able to work together so and and at first it wasn’t great but thanks to their mother and her constant patience and understanding they all learned. She was the glue to their family someone each of them had a special relationship with her and loved her dearly.
He was down the around the corner from her office when his eyes caught sight of the woman he had ran into this morning, before she could see him he turned the others way and went though the supply room. This room had 3 ways to enter and non of them had a door on them, he desks was close enough by the 2nd entrance and he knew where he could stand without her seeing him.
And that is exactly what he did hidden within the shadows he looked at the woman he could now 100% say way the one from this morning. So many questions rush his mind,
How long has she been sitting outside his mother office, why had he not noticed before, was she new or what?
Before he could get lost within his thought for the millionth time today he backed away from the door and back down to his office. He needed to get himself under control because coming into contact with her again…
God he wish he knew her name and just then he remembered the employees database that had their name and pictures. That’s how he would find out her name.
As he entered his office he closed his door, the last thing he needed was someone being nosy. Sitting down at his desk he flips to the employee database and began his search.
It wasn’t long before he came across her and now he had a name to go with that beautiful face, Jenny Carson. She hadn’t been there long around 7 months and that’s all the information he get from there, he have to come up with away to find out more about her but do it without raising suspicion.
The last thing he needed was to make Jenny the talk of the office because he happened to take an interest in her.
He knew all to well how those lady’s were with gossip, only 5% of the information was true the rest was laced with lies and their own suspicions.
Thinking back to his past, he remembered when he had first started. At the time this job was the last thing he wanted but his father wouldn’t hear of it so his younger self thought it would be a great idea to mess around the office. At first it was small pranks that would piss his father off but then he started to notice how the woman in the office would flirt with him.
It all started out as harmless flirting, he strike up a small conversation with a few of the woman around his age. He knew exactly how to work them up and hook them. It was all fun but one or maybe two of them got physical but the one who got him into the most trouble was Abby.
She was hot and she knew it to and he liked a girl who knew what she wanted, it was a f**king turn on for him. They been going back and forth for a few weeks and each time crossing a line till one day he pulled her into and empty confidence room and started kissing her.
Abby was more than willing too so he thought nothing of it when she pulled away from him getting on her knees while undoing his pants and started sucking his d**k. Before he knew it he had her bend over the table her f**king her.
They both were so lost in the high for their release they hadn’t notice his father had walked in.
It wasn’t long before his father had closed to door behind him that even caused them to snap out of it.
It all happened so fast Abby was trying to fix her dress and cover herself, while Joey stood there in all his glory. That day his father lost it for the whole office to hear, that was also the day he knew he had taken this game too far.
After that he made sure to no longer flirt with the woman in the office and thankfully Abby didn’t loose her job, his father had covered it up for the most part but the rumors still went around.
After a few weeks Abby quit, she just couldn’t take all the hateful stuff being said about her and he hadn’t seen or heard from her again.
It wasn’t to long after that happened he had meant his now wife Camilla, she wasn’t anything more than a booty call till she ended up pregnant. At first he couldn’t fathom how since he had always worn protection, he found out a few years later she switched out the condoms he brought with ones she had put holes in, she wanted to trap him so she could reap all the benefits.
A knock cam at his door shacking him from his thought.
“Come in!” He called to the person behind the door.
His brother came walking, he had a stack of papers witch meant only one thing it was time to check their stock.
“ hey bro, it’s that time of the month.” Laughing at his own joke.
The next hour would be hell if there was any part of the job he disliked most it was this. Sitting back and opening the files he needed they spent the hour going over things.
An hour or so later they are done and standing outside their mother’s office with another one of their product managers.
They were going over a few things when he needed to make a few notes over an issue they were having, without thinking he found the closest desk and picked up some paper and a pen. After making his notes he noticed some movement out of the corner of his eye looking up he made eye contact with her.
Looking down at the desk he was at he began to realize it was her desk he was at. She was walking slowly trying to make since of why he was at her desk messing with her things giving him the opportunity to look around her desk.
It was colorful, she had lots of drawing and pictures hung up, she was definitely an artsy. He noticed she had a lots of pictures of two boys they must be hers or someone she is close with.
At this point his time had run out and she was just a few feet away from him, the whole time her made sure not to let on he had even noticed her coming.
Turning to her with best flirting smile,
“ I’m sorry miss I didn’t realize this was your desk.” She was hard for him to read he face was black of any emotion not sure what else to do he spoke again.
“I hope you don’t mind I needed to use a pen and some paper.”
This time she looked up at him with the sweetest smile.
“That’s totally okay, you scared me for a minute I thought I was in trouble for something.”
If she was scared but she had a good porker face. Not sure what else to do he moved out of her way and went back to the conversation he was having but he was fully aware of her watching him.
He knew she be a challenge and he was more than willing to accept besides a little bit of flirting never hurt. He began devising his plan not only did he have a challenge of getting her attention but he have to do it without drawing attention to his actions.
In everyone’s eyes he was a married man no matter how un happy they were. Till him and his so called wife could come to an agreement one his parents would support they would continue the marriage.
His life would be so much easier if she just leave him already but that wasn’t and would never be Camilla style, she wasn’t one to back down without a fight not matter if it was hers or not, in her mind she wants it so then that makes it hers.
The conversation was almost over and he hadn’t heard a word, he just been nodding his head to look like he was listening, his mind was completely somewhat else at the moment. Once they were done he made a bee line for his office, he needed to get his mind under control.
He he was going to even entertain the idea of Jenny he had to be smart about it. No one could know or suspect anything was going on between them but outside the office was a different story and lately he been having lots of thoughts.
Maybe he liked the chase or what it that fact she didn’t fall all over him that had him all worked out. To be honest it was both these things that excited him.
He let his mind wonder with possibilities of what could happen when his phone went off.
