Week 4: How to Overcome Writer's Block? / Chapter 2 Six years have blown by and having completed our Alpha and Beta training we are now on our way back and are currently on the charter flight to Crescent Valley International Airport. Excitement and nerves rise with every second that pass drawing, which draws us nearer to our homeland and none more than Kyron. The atmosphere between him and his sister, Justina have been extremely tense since the last day of school. They are cordial to each other and have put on a great show for their parents for these years past. But now in a couple of hours they will be face to face with everything bare for the eyes to see. Sighing in discontent I tear my eyes from Kyron’s coiled body and looked out at the scenery beyond the plane. Crescent Valley is a beautiful place but from this vantage point, it is exquisite. The sea of green sways and dances in the wind as the sun shines down causing the blue streams among the trees to shimmer like cascading crystal. It reminds me of Crystal Falls except less extravagant. Within the patches of trees where the paths and natural gaps the deep brown colour of the earth shines through as if creating the perfect masterpiece. When the plane landed, Kyron’s anxiousness multiplied tenfold, and I started worrying about how his state of mind would be when we actually arrived in Crystal Storm territory. We exited from the airport and was met by Gamma Gabriel and a few of the top warriors from the pack. “Wel-Welcome home boys,” Gamma Gabriel greeted us. “Kyron. Zayvion?” “Yes? …” I answered. Gamma Gabriel smiled, “just making sure you are you. Do not want to bring home the wrong kid and have Alpha Julian chastise me for not knowing his own son.” Kyron and I chuckled, “I know I changed a bit but it has been six years.” “No, no you look exactly how you should,” he replied chuckling, as he escorted us to the S.U.V. and we were on our way to the Pack territory. The drive to the pack from the airport takes just over one hour but since we took a secret path that only the higher-ranking members knows about, it took us slightly over one and a half hour. We exited the vehicle and was met by my parents, Kyron’s parents, Beta Justin and his wife Kianna, in front of the packhouse, and several pack members that was meandering around the area. “Welcome home, son,” my mom and Kyron’s mom said, and our respective mom embraced us, as the warriors took our stuff into the packhouse under the guidance of Gamma Gabriel. “Good to be home,” we replied returning the embrace. “Wow, look at you, my baby went and grown up on us,” my mom said while cupping my face. “Yeah, I decided it was time to breakout of my cocoon and grow up,” I said while winking at her and my mom just giggled. Then my dad came forward followed closely by Kyron’s dad. “Well, I hope you matured with your growing up, both of you,” he started giving us a stern look and we nodded. Then he physically relaxed, “welcome home, boys,” our dads hugged us. “Let us convene in my office,” We made our way into the house and to his office. I know I have changed a little, but the gawking is getting really old, first at the airport, then outside the house and now inside the house, I sighed inwardly, thank goodness we were behind close doors and away from prying eyes. “Good afternoon,” my dad greeted as he took his place in his office. “First off, we would like to congratulate you both on successfully completing your training in the Silver Forest and gaining the approval of the royal family to take over as Alpha and Beta of the Crystal Storm Pack. We knew you both were the best choice to lead the pack.” Those in the office agreed. “Now that you are back, we need to start the process of transference of power to the new Alpha, so we need to pick a time, date, and venue for the ceremony. Any suggestion?” “We can rent out the Crescent Valley Banquet Hallo,” Beta Justin suggested. “Excuse me, just a second,” I interrupted, “before we go any further, why don’t we use the Raven Trinity, it belongs to us and is on neutral ground. But that is not why I am interrupting, Alpha Julian, I would like to hold off my ascension to Alpha for a year.” “What?!” everyone in the room besides me and Kyron questioned. “Please give me a chance to explain myself?” I implored. “Go on, explain yourself,” my dad gave me the floor. “You present in this room have always have faith in me and I’m extremely grateful for that, but there are many in the pack that have had doubts in my abilities and me, so I would like to take this year to reintroduce myself and prove to the pack members that I am worthy of being the Alpha to this pack. We would also like to go to the Crescent Valley University and attend the final year of college so we can get reacquainted with our peers in the pack.” “I understand that you want to get reacquainted with your peers, but you already completed college, why go back for a whole year?” “Most of our peers are currently in college, which means they spend most of their time there, so if we’re there it would be easier to connect with them, and as an added bonus we can create stronger ties with members from other packs that are also attending college, like we did in Silver Forest.” With a sigh he answered, “I understand, you made some excellent points there, we’ll hold off on the ascension of the Alpha for one year, and I’ll talk to the Dean and see what I can do.” “Thanks farther, I mean Alpha Julian.” “Then I guess we should shelf you taking over managing the Raven Trinity and the Hotels.” “Actually, we believe we can attend college and run the Raven Trinity and the Hotels. Part of the mark of a good Alpha is their ability to multitask after all.” “Alright, I will give you control over the Raven Trinity, but I will continue to manage the Hotels until you take over as Alpha. Is there any objection.” “Sounds like our boys already have everything figured out,” Beta Justin stated. “I can’t wait see how you boys run things when you take over as Alpha and Beta.” “We all second that,” my dad consented. “Unto the next business at hand …” The remainder of the meeting covered pack business as well as the family businesses that sustains the pack, which lasted about one hour, then the meeting was adjourned. As we were leaving, I placed my hand on Kyron’s shoulder, and told him everything was going to be fine, and reminded him of the most essential thing he needed to remember about him and Justina. “Just remember that and keep an open mind okay.” “Okay, I’ll try,” was his answer as we parted ways for the first time in six years. ===== I arrived home, leaving my parents in discussion with the Alpha and Luna, which suited me fine since I do not want them around for my first in person interaction with Justina since the day we left. I attempted to creep into the room as quietly as possible to delay this fateful reunion a little longer, however the instant I entered I found myself engulfed in the arms of my sister and frozen, not knowing how to respond. “I’m so sorry, Kyron,” she whined,” for everything.” It took me a while to notice that the front of the shirt was getting wet then it hit me, Justina was crying. “Please don’t be mad at me. I know what I did was wrong and unforgivable, but I tried to make it right,” she continued. “I told everyone the truth and even apologize to mom and dad, and Alpha Julian and Luna Arya. All I have left to do is apologize to Zayvie, I mean Zayvion, so please forgive me.” Just then, the words Zayvion told me before we parted ways and a million and one times before then came rushing back to me, “Justina is your other, other half, and no matter what she will always have your back, it doesn’t matter how bad things are or how bad they get, you know better than anyone she will always be there for you.” Now I finally get what he has been telling me. “I’m sorry too, Justina,” I replied wrapping my arms around her as my body quaked from the emotion trying to bubble up to the surface. “Sorry, for what?” “I’m sorry for letting this go on so long. I knew you felt bad about what you did but I only saw the damage it caused to Zayvie and his family. I should have been more considerate of you.” "Seriously,” Justina said while pulling away from me, “you should have been more considerate of me?” I stood there perplexed at her one-eighty. “Zayvion has been like a second brother to me, and I stood there and shattered his life without a shred of remorse. And you were not considerate of me enough?” she sighed while pushing her hair behind her ear. “You were right Ky; I did not even think of the consequences of my action until you blatantly spat it at me. I know what I did to Zayvie, I mean Zayvion is unforgivable, but I will try my best to make it up to him as long as I have breath in my body. “Woah, I think you are taking it a little to far now. We both know the type of person Zayvie is. He has the biggest heart in this pack, so trust me he will forgive you, maybe not right off the bat but he will forgive you. And Zayvie is just fine.” “Thanks Ky, I needed that,” she looked up at me, her eyes now red and puffy, and smiled. “I just hope he forgives me sooner than later. I missed having my two brothers.” ===== We have one week before college open for the semester, my dad has managed to convince the Dean to allow both me and Ky to attend the University and sit in on the final year of classes that the business majors must take to graduate. However, before school open, I must finish up my duties, which included checking in on the Raven Trinity; meeting with the elders and finally meeting with the pack doctors. The Raven Trinity is a trendy, ultra-modern nightclub that boasts great food, drinks, and music, good vibes, high energy, and electric atmosphere. The main entrance opens to the Main dance floor, where there is an elevated DJ Booth, extensive lightings, laser system; and at time live performers and a bar off in the corner; with a back entrance that leads to the pool area which also hosts its own drink bar. The floor above is a Lounge area, which has intricate designs, comfortable and spacious seating with its own DJ booth and bar. The lounge provides a more elegant, intimate ambiance, to its counterpart downstairs, that creates a relaxing environment where one can have a drink or two while enjoying their company. And the on the top floor is an upscale Restaurant that caters to all ages, with a maître d’ that doubles as a bouncer to make sure no underage personnel enters below. And the best thing about the club, it is a neutral zone that caters to the other-worldly beings that roam the lands, in other words no human allowed, unless they are a part of our side of the world. Plus, another perk is unlike the clubs on the human side where you must be 21 years old to enter; once you are of the age of 18 you are granted access. Everything at the club seemed to be in order, so up next was the meeting with the elders. “Welcome back, young Alpha,” the elders greeted. “Oh, I’m not Alpha yet,” I replied. “Oh, we know, Alpha Julian already informed us of your decision, and we are in full support of you. We agreed there were many naysayers in the pack, but it never had anything to do with your abilities. However, the best way to prove yourself is to show them just how formidable a leader you will be.” “Yes, I know, and I will,” I replied while showing my respect to them. “I promise I will try to live up to your expectations and prove your faith in me is not in vain.” After that, my meeting with the elders ended and I felt more assured that my decision was the right one. Then we went and collected the things we needed for college when it opens. Now the only thing left to round off the week is the meeting with the pack doctor. The meeting with the pack doctor was more of a routine check-up. After giving me the all-clear, the pack doctor just sat there and smiled at me. “What?” I inquired, my curiosity getting the better of me. “Oh nothing. It’s just that did I not tell you not to worry that your body will eventually catch with you?” she questioned with a bigger smile. “Yes, you did, Dr. Jewel,” I chuckled and started to make my way out of the office, only to collide with someone outside. “Oh, I’m sorry, I was not looking,” she stated quickly as she recovered her files from the floor. “Justina?” I stated. She looked up at me with the look of a deer caught in the headlights, “Zayvion …”
