SELENE'S POV
“So, she left because of me,” Aldric said, his voice low after I finished explaining everything.
I shook my head quickly, not wanting him to get the wrong idea. “No! It’s not like that, Aldric. I’m sure she had a good reason for—”
“It’s fine,” Aldric cut me off with a slight shake of his head. “She’ll reach out when she’s ready, Selene. It’s all good.”
But it wasn't though. I could tell it wasn’t. His words sounded so casual, but I wasn’t blind. I could see the pain in his eyes, hear the hurt in his voice. I could see the way his shoulders sagged, like the weight of the world was pressing down on him. No matter how much he tried to mask it, the man was heartbroken, that much was obvious.
