The only reason I remained seated beside him and didn’t back away in fear was that, somewhere deep inside me, I still knew he wouldn’t hurt me. No matter how angry Aldric was, he wouldn’t go that far. That was a line he would never cross. At least, I hoped he wouldn’t.
I quickly recovered from the shock, swallowing visibly before proceeding to tell him what had caught my attention.
