Chapter 2 ~ Saved

The red glow of the vampires eyes seemed to make me freeze with fear. The vampire's hair was a dark brown hair. He was pale and he was wearing a white button up shirt with what looked like dress pants. "Tayler did you find him?" Nico yelled from below i looked down at him. The vampires eyes moved from me to Nico. I knew the moment Nico saw the vampire because he froze. "Tayler is that a vampire?" It seemed like a stupid question because no human could have the glowing red eyes all vampires seemed to have. But i could understand why he would ask that vampires weren't supposed be able to go near the base due to whatever they put around the base. Around me something moved past much to fast to be human before i could move i was flying through the air. i landed on the ground a second later. I laid there for a second before i got up the vampire that was in the tree was now standing in front of me while another vampire stood behind Nico and Jenny. The vampire's hands were resting on their shoulders. "Tristan, why are you defending the human?"

"Stay behind me okay?" The vampire says glancing at me. I stood frozen gripping my wooded knife that would do nothing against a vampire. The other vampire had short light brown hair. His eyes like Tristan's were glowing red. Something moved past me after a second another vampire stood beside Tristan. The new vampire was wearing a suit. He had black hair and was pale like all other vampires. They both stood in front of me sending hateful glares to the other vampire. "You need to pay for your crimes." The new vampire said. "Kai, why are you here?"

"Diana sent me after this vampire." Tristan frowned. "Also why are you protecting a human?" Kai asked asked glancing at me. "I don't know." Tristan said a second later our teacher came running from the woods. All three vampires turned to look at him all three sets of eyed landed on his knife which was drawn. "How'd you even get here?" Justin asked glaring at all three vampires. "Your base should be more secure." Tristan says plainly. while Tristan was looking at Justin the nameless vampire grabbed my arm pulling me away from Tristan and Kai. I froze as the vampire's hand gripped my arm tightly. Tristan eye's flared with hatred and anger. "Let. her. go."

"Or what?" The vampire flashed a smile at Tristan. A second later Tristan flew at the nameless vampire his grip on my arm went slack though i could still feel the cold hand on my arm. The cold hand suddenly disappeared. I look up to see Tristan holding the broken off hand. He looked at me for a second longer before disappearing with Kai into the woods. "Is everyone okay?" Justin asks speed walking over to us. "I'm okay are you okay?" I ask turning so i was facing Nico and Jenny. "Yeah we're okay." I turn so i was facing Justin. "Why didn't they attack us? I thought all vampires eat humans." Justin nods. "Most do but we really don't know much about them. We teach what we know which isn't much." I nod. "That makes sense. So we're not going after Tristan and Kai then?" Justin frowns. "I need to contact the board. Plus they know where we are now they could attack anytime now." He sighs slightly. "We should head back in. You guys have the rest of the night off okay?" We nod as we follow him back into the base. "You two wanna head to my room?" I ask. "Sure, we could do a sleepover." Jenny says with a bright smile. "Yeah we can. it'd be fun." I say as i open my door. They walk hang up what jackets they were wearing and sat down on the sofa. "You think they're gonna send hunters after Kai and Tristan?" Jenny asks looking at me. "I hope not. they didn't do anything wrong."

"They're vampires they eat humans don't they?" Nico asks looking at me. "I guess but they also saved us." Nico shrugs. "Yeah they saved us but what about the humans they ate? What about their families?" I sigh. "I see your point but unless they killed anyone then i don't see a point going after them." Jenny nods. "I agree with Tayler on this one." I stand up. "Do you guys want tea or something?" They both nod. "Do you have any black tea or something?" I nod. "Maybe? I don't know." I walk to the kitchen Jenny follows after me. "Did you see Kai? and that white streak?" I shake my head. "I didn't get a good view of his face." I pull down three mugs and fill them with hot water then i place tea bags in each mug. Jenny takes her and Nico's mug and takes them to the living room. I follow after her. At some point my phone buzzes. "Who's that?" Nico asks looking at my phone. "Probably my parents or something." I say picking up my phone however a random number had texted me. "It's a random number." I say with a frown.

"Maybe it's the board." Jenny says glancing at my phone. "Can i see?" Nico asks i hand him my phone. "It's not the board. Don't respond okay?"

"I wanna see who it is." I say as i send a text asking who it was. My phone buzzes again. I look at it.

'Tristan. Y'know the vampire that saved your life?' I frown. 'How'd you get my number?' I text back. 'I have my ways.' I roll my eyes as i place my phone back down. "Who was it?"

"I don't know a random person i guess." I say with a shrug. "Just block them then." Nico says as he looks back at the tv. after an hour of talking we end up falling asleep.

I look around me. i was standing in my bedroom. "Finally." I turn around and find myself facing Tristan. "What are you doing here?" I ask confused. "Oh in your dream? I don't know."

"So you don't wanna be here then?" He shakes his head. "No, No of course i do i don't know why i decided to come."

"How can you do this?"

"A gift. The first line can give a vampire a gift if they want to after they turn though they can't pick the gift and they can only do it in the first twenty-four hours."

"So you can pick to go into people's dreams?" He nods. "Yeah." He looks out the window and frowns. "You'll have to wake up soon." He digs in his pocket for a second before pulling out a ring. It was black with a ruby in the middle of it. "Don't take it off ever okay? it'll keep you safe. you'll find it on top of your desk okay?" I nod "Good. it's time to wake up then."

I wake up as Jenny shakes me awake. "It's about time. you have to get dressed. The board wants to talk to us." I nod as i sit up and walk to my room. On top of my desk was the ring Tristan had given me in my dream. I slide the ring on my middle finger and i turned to get dressed.
