After Elle stormed out of Jay’s house, I stayed behind for another hour or so to chat before leaving him alone to deal with his newfound fatherhood. I was planning on stopping over at Elle’s apartment but she was sending all my calls to voicemail so I figured she wanted to be alone. I shook my head the entire drive home; I still couldn’t believe Jay had an illegitimate child with a stripper.
According to one of the documents the social worker gave us, Mercedes had died from complications of surgery. I told that hoe months ago not to go get them ass shots, talking bout there was sale. Everyone know aint no “sales” in these type of surgeries unless A you were fuckin the doctor or B the doctor wasn’t legitimate. She was a good ass mom too, from what I knew. Though I'd never seen her son before, she would gush about him to anyone who would listen.
A part of me wondered though, having a baby by a celebrity was like hitting the jackpot for these strippers, how come she never came forward? It really didn’t make any sense to me unless Jay knew all along and gave her hush money. But then again I knew Jay, and he wouldn’t do his seed dirty like that.
Though it was getting late, I ended up pulling up at the studio instead of my house. Mia’s vibe been off lately and I wasn’t in the mood for the antics. “Hey... what’re you doing here so late?” I asked when I saw Adijah, once of our artists seated around the control board.
“I could ask you the same thing...” he replied, swinging the chair around to face me.
I had found Adijah at an underground rap battle almost a year ago and automatically snatched him up under me and Jay’s wing before anyone else could, that’s how dope he was. Though he was a little younger than me, I would say about twenty-five or so, he had the mindset of a grown man which set him apart from the other rappers we had on our label. Most young rappers only cared and rapped about drugs and p***y, but Adijah rapped about Black power and s**t. Real talk, he was like a chocolate J Cole.
“I... was in the area...” I replied as I threw my coat and bag on the couch. Adijah lit up a blunt and we ended up in deep talk until I peeped my watch read 12am. “Shit... I head outta here but keep working on that track aight, I can’t wait to hear it...”
“Bet...” he replied as he watched me put my jacket back on.
Mia was already asleep when I got home, I quietly undressed and slid into the bed so as not to wake her but my eyes weren't closed for more than an hour when my phone started ringing. Who the f**k would call me at this time? I quickly snatched up my phone and as I answered, Elle started screaming for me to come and get her. I didn’t ask any questions, I simply jumped outta bed and pulled on the same clothes I had recently shed off before running out the door.
