I sat in my office quietly working on a custom design for a customer when my assistant Porsha walked in. “Elle... I finished straightening up... should I lock up now?” She asked.
“You go ahead Porsha... I’ll lock up when I’m done here...”
Half an hour later, I’d shut off all the lights and was locking up the door to the showroom when I spotted a young woman with a big pregnant belly wading into the Babies R Us store next door. I smiled to myself and patted my own belly; I’d just found out I was about eight weeks pregnant during my GYN visit this morning. It was funny when I thought about it, I had originally made the appointment to ask why it was taking so long for me to get pregnant when in fact I already was. I hadn’t told Jay yet though... I figured I would do a cute announcement during Thanksgiving dinner next week.
Though I considered heading next door to browse cute baby items, my belly started growling due to me skipping lunch so I went straight for my car and headed to the nearest Shake Shack. I texted Jay as I pulled up to ask for his order but he never replied so I just got him a double cheeseburger with fries. Since coming back from Trinidad I've been sleeping over at his place constantly, so much that he’d ended up making space for my clothes in his closet.
My face grew hot as I thought about all the f*****g we’d been doing these last few months; just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, he proved me wrong. Last night in particular, he tied me to his bed and ate my p***y with ice. Chills ran down my back as if the ice was still between my legs. Now I don’t know if it was pure making up for lost time or if being pregnant made me horny 24/7, but either way I loved every bit of it.
As I pulled into his driveway, the first thing I noticed was Asia’s car and some beat up Nissan that I’ve never seen before. Grabbing my food off the passenger seat, I exited my car and walked up to his front door. Hushed voices could be heard from inside but as I inserted my key in the door, all noise seemed to decease. “Hey... what’s going on?” I asked after setting my food down in the kitchen and walking into the living room.
Some old white lady got up off the couch and cleared her throat real loud. “I think it’s best I leave you to discuss this privately... have a good night Mr. Briggs and good luck...”
I eyed the woman up and down as she exited before turning to Asia who was trying way too hard to look everywhere but my direction. “W-What’s going on...?” I asked again, but no one answered.
Jay ran his hands down his face before standing up and grabbing onto my hand to pull me onto the couch. “Elle...” His voice cracked and as I got closer to the couch, I noticed a small boy curled up asleep. I quickly pulled my hands away and tried to read his face but was just full of guilt. I grew more and more pissed off with every second of silence that passed.
“Who’s that?” I asked, pointing to the child.
“Sit down so we could talk...”
“I’ll stand.” I replied, glaring at him.
“Aight well, um... this is... my son... Trey...” I hung on to every word that came out of Jay’s mouth while he explained to me what the f**k was happening. Every so often I would glance over at Asia to detect a hint of smile because this surely had to be a cruel joke they were playing on me. “I’m so sorry...” he ended his speech.
“I see...” was all I replied before turning around and walking right the f**k outta the house. My heart was beating out of my chest and I had gotten an instant headache as I rushed back to my apartment. “Don’t cry, don’t cry...” I told myself over and over. I mean, it’s not like he cheated on me, right? But still... a f*****g child? I just needed a few days to gather my thoughts. I didn’t even notice how fast I was going until I spotted a police car signaling me to pull over. “Can this day get any f*****g worse?!” I screamed out loud with tears in my eyes.
A buff looking dark-skinned officer approached my car and tapped on my window for me to roll it down. “Excuse me miss, did you realize you were going ten over the limit?” He asked.
“Um... I didn’t, I'm sorry officer...” I replied as I handed him my license.
“You know what, it’s okay... just be careful okay... it’s supposed to snow tonight...” He responded as he gave me back my license. “You’re too gorgeous to be out here crying...”
I didn't realize the tears had escaped my eyes and was now running down my cheeks. I quickly wiped them away before flashing him a fake little smile. “Thank you sir... you have a good night...” The officer tipped his hat before walking off to go bother some other citizen and I continued my drive home. I tried to hold in the rest of my tears til I got home but then realized that I’d left my food at Jay’s house and started bawling like a baby.
