JACEON

**SEVEN MONTHS LATER** These past couple months with Elle flew by in the blink of an eye and since she’s been in my life, it was as if the universe was suddenly working in my favor. Every song that Asia and I worked on whether together or separately became a hit. We'd been on the top ten Billboard list for weeks at a time. As for Elle and I, we been making up for lost time taking little trips together and f*****g like rabbits. We'd even gone to Brooklyn a couple times to visit my mom and they reconnected like dear old friends which made me happy cause my mom hated each and every girl I’d had before.  After being pictured in magazines together, we quickly rose to becoming Hollywood’s new “it couple”. I had no doubt in my mind that Elle was the one I was gonna marry, I’d even went as far as telling her to get off birth control so we could make a baby. Just as Asia started wrapping it up in the booth, I checked my watch. “Yo, you kilt it Asia...” one of our new artists named Rosko exclaimed as she stepped out the booth. “Thanks for puttin me on...” she replied humbly. “Are you kiddin? You’re gonna make this a hit!”  I waited until Rosko packed up his things and left before turning to Asia who was now putting on her jacket. “Yo, you mind coming back to my real quick?” “Sure, what’s up?” “I invited Max over and I wanted your opinion on something...” “Oh my God!” She squealed. “Are you getting a ring?! Are you gonna propose?!” My face gave it away and she pulled me into a tight hug, “don’t hug me yet, she still has to say yes...” “Oh, she will!” Almost two hours later the three of us were seated around my dining table; unable to choose from the selection Max brought, I ended up getting a custom ring. With Asia’s help, we came up with a design that would make Kim Kardashian blush. It was a platinum five carat heart-shaped diamond with a triple halo in which the middle halo held pink diamonds. It was gonna cost me over a hundred grand but I didn’t care, Elle was worth every penny and then some. After finalizing everything, Max left and I started to discuss my proposal plan with Asia. “So im thinkin, keep it low key. Run her bubble bath with roses and some shit...” “Oou that sounds so romantic!” Asia exclaimed as she took a sip of her soda. “Yeah, Elle lives for that hopeless romantic s**t, she’ll love it...” Just as I reached over for my can of soda, the doorbell rang, causing me to raise my eyebrow. “Is that her?” she asked in a hushed tone.  “Nah, she got a key...” I replied before striding over to the door. Looking through the peephole I saw a middle-aged white woman in a suit. “What I do now?” I thought to myself before pulling open the door and noticing she had a small child with her. “Jaceon Briggs?”  I looked her up and down. “Yeah, can I help you?” The woman shifted her feet. “Do you mind if we come in? It’s rather windy out...” I stepped aside to let them in just as a strong gust of October wind went by. “Oh good, is this your wife?” She asked when she saw Asia seated on the couch before sitting down across from her.  Asia raised her brow. “No, I’m his sister. What’s this about? Is Jay in some kind of trouble?” “Oh, no no no, my apologies... my name is Linda Robbins, I’m from social services...” “Social services...?” I repeated. “Yes... this here is Trey...” She said presenting the little boy beside her. “And according to his birth certificate... you are his father...” “HA!” Asia’s soda almost came through her nose as she burst into laughter. “This is a joke, right? Who put you up to this? Are we being Punk’d?” Linda adjusted her glasses before pulling out a large manila envelope from her bag. “Here are all the documents... of course, we would like to do a DNA swab test before filling out the necessary paperwork...” Taking the envelope from her hand, I pulled out a birth certificate and scanned it until I found what I was looking for. Sure enough, my name was listed down as the father right next to the mother’s name, Mercedes Ellis. “Hey, how old are you lil man?” I asked even though his birth date was listed right in front of me. “Three...” He replied, holding up three fingers. “Jay what the hell... is this for real?” Asia asked, snatching the papers from my hand. “Mercedes? Stripper Mercedes from KOD? God dammit Jay ew!” I pushed her out the way and turned to Linda. “Can we do the DNA thing now?” I asked, though after quickly studying Trey, I knew what the results would be. “Of course, Mr. Briggs...” She responded, pulling out a test kit from her bag and quickly swabbing his and Trey’s mouth with the provided Q-tip. “It’ll just take a few minutes...” As she sat back down, I turned and walked into the kitchen to pour myself a much needed drink. I gulped down a whole glass of Hennessy when Asia made her way into the kitchen and sat down at the island table. “Jay... what are you gonna tell Elle?” My heart sunk; I wanted to cry. “I don’t know Asia...”
