I knew going over to Lucas’s family house was a good idea. But I just wanted to try my luck. I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
I already knew how they felt about me, so I wasn’t completely surprised at their actions. They looked relieved when they realized that Lucas and I were getting divorced.
His sister, Jamie, was even the happiest of them all.
I always wondered if she had some sort of personal vendetta against me. She always condescendingly spoke to me like I was nothing.
All these years, I had tolerated her vile behavior towards me. We didn’t see each other often, but whenever we did, she made it clear that she didn’t like me or even wanted me for her brother.
