Chapter Twenty

Samantha I heard the front door handle rattle and I slowly opened my eyes. I was still in the tub from the motel but I was back in human form in my mint green dress. Oh crap. I was supposed to be leaving today with Serena. What time are you leaving? I asked her. And what time is it? It's 12 in the morning, she answered, sounding very tired. Flight leaves at 11. Ok great. I need to buy a plane ticket. Don't worry about it, I bought you one already. But Sam, are you sure you want to do this? Serena, I live in LA, not here. Just because my mate lives here don't mean I actually plan on staying here. I'm going to have to find a way to the pack house, get my stuff and then get a ride to the airport. I'll meet you there before 10 ok? Yeah, see you soon. The sound of someone banging on my room door. Must have been room service or something. No one knew I was here. "Coming!" I yelled starting to get out of the tub. I took a quick look in the mirror and groaned. My hair and makeup was a mess and my eyes were red as hell. It was a good thing I was in my human form-clothed. I opened the bathroom door then put my hair up in a bun before looking through the peephole. I saw a guy with short brown hair and blue eyes. "I'm sorry, I was asleep," I lied. I noticed that this was the guy from behind the counter from last night. I raised my eyebrow at him but he didn’t see. "In the bathroom?" he joked and he pointed to the non-touched bed. Then I remembered it was 12 am and I needed to go back to the pack house. The problem was I didn’t have a ride there. "Um, no. I just don't like sleeping under the comforter, at all," I lied again and I mentally slapped myself. That was the best excuse I've ever heard of. "That's weird. Anyway, I just wanted to check up on you. I heard you crying from down the hall," he explained sorrowfully. Was I that loud?! "Oh, sorry," I flushed in embarrassment. "I'm fine." "Guy troubles?" he guessed. "You have no idea," I sighed and leaned against the open hotel room door. "Would you like to talk about it?" "I really don't. I'm still trying to process it," I answered slowly. "Hey, you won't happen to know any late-night cabs, would you? I need a ride home." "As a matter of fact, I think there's one outside as we speak. I’ll check now.” "Really? I need to catch that cab. I know how hard it is to catch a cab here in New York," I said, grabbing my stuff, which basically included my clutch and my heels. I slipped them on as fast as I can and ran out the door, noticing the guy was gone. He was probably telling the driver to wait. I got to the lobby within seconds, speed walking down the hall out the front. I looked around to see the guy from earlier was leaning into the passenger window speaking to the driver. I walked up to him and he turned around. "Good, you're here. Here she is Marco." The guy showed me the driver. He had dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes with a scrub that proved that he hadn’t shaved in a couple of days. "Hi, I'm Sam." Marco nodded and unlocked the door. "In you go," said the blue-eyed man as he opened the back door. I got in slowly and the smell of black ice slapped me immediately and I inhaled it deeply. I saw the worker get in as well and I raised my eyebrows. "He's generous enough to take both of us home. My shift is over," he explained and I sat back, hitting the cold leather seats. "Take me home," the guy whispered to Marco and he nodded starting to drive out of the motel parking lot. I sighed, I guessed ladies first didn’t apply to him. I closed my eyes and let sleep take over. When I opened my eyes, I wasn’t in the leather cab anymore. I was in a wooden warehouse of some sort and I had been tied up. I tried to wiggle out but I failed. "Ugh," I groaned and then I heard murmurs. "Did you hear that Marco?" I heard a girl ask. "Hear what Iz?" Iz, who I was assuming, sighed in frustration. "My name is Isabel, not Iz!" "It's your nickname," I heard Marco pout. "At least call me Bel." "But I like Iz," he complained backed and I heard a smack. "Quit your talking. What if she wakes up from your complaints?" "I didn't think about that," he muttered. "When do you ever think?" "Ouch, I felt that from all the way over here." "You're literally three feet away from me," Isabel scoffed and Marco snickered. I heard a chair pull out and it's pushed back in. "I'm going to check on the girl. Call Ricky and find out when he's getting back. I don't want to play babysitter for much longer." I heard heels hit the bottom of the wooden floor and it grew closer to my area. I closed my eyes and pretended to have just woken up. "What? What happened? Where am I? Who are you? What do you want?" "Ah," Isabel sighed as she entered the room. "The usual questions." She walked closer to me and lifted my chin so I look into her eyes. She had dark brown wavy hair and blue eyes and she was wearing a blue knitted hat. She kind of reminded me of the guy from the motel. Was his name Ricky? The guy they were just talking about? "What do you want from me?" I repeated and pretending I was scared, which was slightly true. I could take this girl down if I wasn't tied up. "It's not that what I want. It's what my brother wants." "Ricky?" I guessed. "Yes, good mermaid girl." She patted my head and I gasped. "You know what I am?" But how could she? I haven't revealed anything. "Of course," she answered as if the answer was obvious. "What time is it? How long have I've been asleep for?" "Well, you were asleep for about 15 minutes then we gave you something so you could sleep longer. Now it's about three am." Three in the morning? Oh my god. I was supposed to be at the pack house getting ready to leave with Serena. Wait a minute, maybe Serena can help me, as much I would rather her not help me. But I was in danger and I needed help and there was no one else I could call. I didn't want to call her, but I didn't have a choice. Serena? Please answer me, I'm in trouble! Sam, what's wrong? Why are you mind linking me at 3:12 in the morning? Some people named Ricky, Isabel and Marco have kidnapped me. I'm in some warehouse but that's all I know, I explained in a rush. There was a slight pause and then I felt Emma enter my head. Serena, did Ricky have brown hair and blue eyes? I think so, yes. Do you know him or something? He was our waiter at this fancy dinner. Then he followed us to the club and he wouldn't leave Andre and I alone, she described. Wow, this guy is 100% a stalker. Oh, and they know that I'm a mermaid. What?! How?! Did he force you to tell him? Serena came back to ask. No, he's not even here at the moment. I don't know where he is, I answered. We think we do. We think he's at the motel you were staying at. We think he’s there now with the guys. Emma informed me. Well, Adrian and Blake. Andre was commanded to take us home, but now that we have valuable information, we’re going to help you. This guy has everything figured out. He took me just before the guys could rescue me, I cried out. Thank you. He's indeed smart, Serena complimented. But why would he do this? First of all, I find it somewhat rude that you’re praising my kidnapper. I’ll try to figure out their intentions. I’ll notify you if I find out anything more. Ok, good luck and please stay safe. Serena and I will inform Andre and have him contact the boys to try to find you. If something goes wrong don’t hesitate to mind link us, Emma said before she left. Thank you for contacting me, Serena added before leaving as well. Now that I realized it, I did contact Serena first. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks after all. "Marco, did you call Ricky?" Isabel wondered. "Yeah, he said that he's on his way and that the wolves don't suspect anything," Marco answered with a laugh. They know about wolves too? These guys couldn't be human. Emma, they can't be human. They know too much, I informed her. We know they're not human. Andre says that smell weird. They smell like a wolf but not fully. Do you think they are the rogues that Blake was talking about earlier? What are you talking about? Just tell Andre, he'll know what I'm talking about. Make sure you mention the Silver Feather Pack. Ok, she acquiesced unsurely. Andre says that a good guess but there would more to the story. Like clearly they have a plan or a vendetta. But I don’t even know these guys! Ugh, fine. I’ll see what I can find out. Update me if you have something new. You as well. I saw Isabel walking to me with a bag in her hands. "I'm assuming you want a little snack or something?" I nodded. "I'm kind of hungry." "Too bad, all we have is water." "Oh, I'll take it." No Sam don't! Serena commanded and I froze. Why not? It wasn’t going to turn me. The water found in bottles, pools, and faucets didn’t contain the salt needed for us to transform. If you drink it, they'll discover you won't turn, she explained. You can't let them know that it's only salt water that turns us. Ok, so what should I do? Refuse to drink it. Ok. “Well?” Isabel said, holding out a water bottle with the cap off. "On second thought, I'm not thirsty. Like I said before: I'm hungry and I bet you have food in that bag," I said. "Oh, you're not thirsty? Oh well, you will be later." Isabel stood up and walked away, taking the food and water with her. "What does Ricky want with me?" I wondered before she could go back to the next room with Marco. Isabel froze but turned around and spoke. "You'll have to ask him that." "Ask me what?" Ricky asked coming out of nowhere. Literally, he just appeared out of thin air. "What do want me with me? What did I do to you? Do I even know you?" "It's not something you did, but you something you might do," he answered and then walked over and knocked me out.
