Chapter Nineteen

Blake I just sat there. Frozen. You ass, what did you do? my wolf wondered. How the hell am I supposed to know? How could you? I heard Andre ask and I growled at him. How could I what? What did I do? What do you think dumbass? my wolf came back. He was extremely pissed for my previously unknown actions. SHUT UP! I growled at him and he finally backed down. "Tell me right now," I commanded. I saw Andre and Adrian eye each other, then Serena and Emma do the same time. "Why does everyone know but me?!" "Should we really tell him?" Andre wondered. "You better," I said. "Maybe not here," Emma suggested. "I can tell he's going to lose it and go on a rampage or something." Wait a minute. I don’t smell our mate anymore. I allowed him to speak only because Samantha was nowhere to be seen. "Where is she, Adrian?" I growled, referring to my mate. "In the bathroom," he answered slowly. "Why are saying it as if you're not sure if she's in there or not? She is in there, right?" "To be honest, I saw her walk in and then I left," he shrugged and took a sip of his drink and I smacked it out of his hand. It caused a little attention but I ignored it. "So what you're saying is that she could have been kidnapped or something?" "Or, she could just be crying her eyes out." "That's impossible," Serena and Emma both whispered at the same time. "Why?" Adrian and I wondered. I noticed Andre was in on this. "What do you know Andre?" I asked. "Enough to know that they're right. It's impossible for her to be crying." "At the moment," the girls said again. "Ugh! What are you three talking about?!" Adrian cried in frustration. "Think about it," Andre started. "If she can't cry here..." "She would have to have left," I finished. "You two." I pointed to Emma and Andre and I started to get up. "Check the bathroom to see if she's there. We're going to check the parking lot. Let's go," I commanded. I hope I was wrong. I hope that she's just hiding in the bathroom. But she had told me that she would change into whatever she was by her tears. So either she wouldn't be crying or she would have left. We walked past the crowd, slightly pushing them and ran out. I put my snout in the air and began sniffing it. "Damn it!" "Well, look at it this way: Maybe she's in the bathroom after all," Adrian said. "No she's not," Serena said with a frown. "Emma just informed me." We found the bathroom window open and the snow has footprints, Andre informed me. s**t, she left. We're coming out now. "This is all my fault," Serena whispered. "And mine," I added placing my hands on my hips waiting for the other two. I still had no idea what I did, but I already regret it. "What do we do now?" Adrian wondered. "Andre said that they found the window opened and there were footprints in the snow," I informed both of them although I was sure that Serena knew already. "So we follow them until they disappear? Then what?" Adrian asked. "That's the problem," Andre said coming into view. "There's only one place where there are footprints in the snow, right by the window. That's it. I'll give it to her, she's smart." "Well, can't we just follow her scent?" I wondered. "Nope, it's gone. The wind must have blown it along." This is your f*****g fault, my wolf blamed and I honestly didn’t blame him. He had every right. I was just surprised that he wasn't going ballistic and shifting. There's no point if I do that. It wouldn't help find our mate. "Wait for a second, guys!" Adrian said and we all looked at him. "I just thought of something." "Spit it out!" I commanded. "You marked her right?" I'm shocked and I froze. For once, you did something good for our mate, my wolf shook his head. Shut up and take control already. As I said this I began running, across the street and into the woods. Once I reached the trees I shifted, letting Shadow take control immediately. I called him Shadow because he had all the qualities of one. It wasn’t just because of his dark black fur color. He moved like a shadow and you couldn't see him in the dark, only in the light. It was the perfect name. Plus, he loved it. Andre, take the girls to the pack house. Adrian, take my car and follow me, I commanded. Yes, Alpha, they both responded. Although the wind did blow away Sam's scent, the mate bond was stronger. I sniffed all around the area. Sam walked forward then turned west. Why is she heading west? Going east would have taken her home. I don't know. Maybe, she didn't want to go home. Then where was she going?! I don't know! Let's just follow her scent and see where it takes us. I headed back in the woods and ran west, hearing Adrian following me. I ran for at most two minutes when Sam's smell disappeared. She had walked to a motel and probably checked in for the night. What time is it? I questioned Adrian. Past midnight, he yawned. Ok, throw me some clothes. I heard a door open, then I saw a tired Adrian set clothes a few feet away from me. I grabbed them with my mouth, trying my best not to tear them and walked deeper in the forest. Let me shift back, I demanded and Shadow gave me control. I put on the sweats, sneakers, and t-shirt that Adrian gave me and walked out the woods to see Adrian leaning against the car as if he was about to pass out. "Ok, Sam's in there. I'm going to stay here for the night. Are you ok shifting and running back or do you want to crash here?" "I'll crash here," he answered slowly. "Ok, let's park the car and then get a room." We parked the car outside a motel named Henry's. I smelled Sam's scent and it instantly calmed me down, knowing she was here. "Hi, may I ask you a question?" The guy nodded for me to continue. "Has a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes in a green dress come in within the last hour or so?" "Yes, I remember a girl like that," he recalled. "She looked so sad. Heart-broken almost. I feel so bad for her. I'm pretty sure I heard crying after I gave her a room." "Which room?" "Who are you?" "Uh-" I started. "He's her adoptive brother," Adrian lied and I thanked him through our mind link. "And who are you?" "The guy who broke her heart," Adrian shrugged as if he wasn't ashamed, which he shouldn't be since I was the one who broke her heart. "Apparently, she called her brother, told her to come and help her take the pain away. I was trying to apologize but she just wanted some time alone. We're also best friends, that's why I'm here." I'm impressed. Slightly drunk and tired Adrian was the best. "Oh, well, in that case, she's in room 32," the guy whispered to me so Adrian couldn't hear but he doesn't know that he's a werewolf and had enhanced hearing. "Thank you..." I dragged on looking for his name. "Ricky," he finished with a smile.
