Harper drove the long way to the cemetery. He loved having his little blue Audi TT with him in Ridgefield. The used car was his one splurge from his first big check and he’d missed it when he’d been driving the old farm pickup around. Once he pulled into the parking lot, Harper sat there staring at the rows of headstones, willing his hands to stop shaking. As cemeteries go, Ridgeview was a nice place with lots of trees and winding paths overlooking the river. It always seemed relaxing, but he hadn’t been there since after his grandfather passed away three years before Scott. Checking the pockets of his leather jacket, Harper found his hat and gloves and pulled them on.
