CHAPTER 5: GATHERING EVIDENCE

When they arrived at the company, there were guards stationed at the entrance. They went to the reception.

" Hello sir , how can l help you today ? " the receptionist asked .

"Is Mr Steve here today . We want to see him , can you show us to his office," Chris said

" Did you book an appointment? " she asked. while looking at her computer.

" No we didn't book any appointment,"

" You can't meet him without an appointment," she said .

"Well we are the police we are doing an investigation so we need to check some things with your boss," Chris said while showing their IDs

" But sir ... " she looked uncertain.

"Well if you can't show us to his office that means you will be interrupting the investigation. We might take you down to the station with us ," Chris said while looking at her with a slight smile on his face .

"Ok come this way ,"

They got into the elevator with the receptionist. They went to the 10th floor .

It was such a huge building that if you don't look carefully at your sorroundings you will definitely get lost . They were walking in complete silence, until they reached a huge door written CEO Ian Steve Wilson.

She turned around " This is his office ,".She gently knocked on the door .

" Come in ," a voice was heard coming from inside .

They got in . They saw a man he looked to be in his early 30's , he was good looking with neatly combed brown hair. It was Steve.

"Good afternoon sir, They wanted to see you , they are detectives from Blues Police station," she said while looking at her boss . He was known to be hot tempered but to her surprise he was so calm , she was relieved.

" Ok Tyler you can go now ," he said looking at a piece of paper.

" Oh , so your name is Tyler , it was lovely meeting you and thank you," she heard Chris saying when she was about to go back . She just smiled and continued on her way out .

"Hi , Detective Chris Mroy here and this is my companion Detective Jaden Marble ," Chris said while extending his hand for a handshake. Steve did the same " It's a pleasure meeting you Ian Steve Wilson here , to what do owe this visit," he asked while smiling.

"We came here to ask you about your girlfriend's death , Mrs Nala ," he asked while looking at him intensely.

"Yes Nala was my girlfriend and I still love her and l always will ," he said with a sad expression on his face .

"Umm do you mind coming with us to the station we need you to ask you some questions if you don't mind ," Chris said this as polite as he possibly can . On the other hand Steve looked a little bit taken back by the sudden request ..

"Y-eah l don't mind at all . I am not busy today anyway so we can go ," he said while standing up.

Chris thought it was going to be tough to bring him down to the station but surprisingly he didn't even try to resist .It was like he was waiting for this day

" That's exactly how criminals try to mislead and intimidate you . He pretending to be nice ," Chris was saying this in his head with a unamused face expression.

They left the building. They arrived at the police station and Ken handed him an envelope with the DNA results.

He took Steve straight to the questioning room .

He sat down, Steve did the same . " So Mr Steve where were you on the 14th and the 15th of this month," he asked with a stern face .

"I went on a business trip to Dubai on the 12th of June and I returned right after signing the deal after l heard about Nala's death. I took the earliest flight and it was on the 16th of June ," he said .

" I saw that you have a cut on your right palm , how did you hurt yourself and when , "

" Oh this I was cut by a knife on the 11th of this month . I still remember that I was distracted after having a quarrel with Nala that afternoon,"

"Do you have any evidence to back up your story Mr Wilson? ,"

"Yes l still have my plane tickets and the deal that I signed have a date on it , also you can check the airport CCTV footages if you still doubt me Mr Mroy," he said confidently .

" Well did anyone tell you that we find an earring and some blood on a glass shad and on a glove at the scene that day," he paused for a little bit" And guess what we did a DNA test and your DNA was found on the earring," he said while looking at the paper .

"What? ," Chris shouted with a shocked face . Steve was confused.

"The blood belonged to an animal ,"

"So you mean the murderer used an animals blood ," Steve asked looking at him with an uncertain expression.

"Mr Steve as of now you are our main suspect for the murder of Nala Claire's murder case ,"
