Chapter Ten

Zane's point of view

'So is it true?' Katie asked me as we both sat down on the dock while all the others carried on messing around on the water skis and playing in the lake. I looked at her, her hopeful eyes stared back into mine.

'Yeah, it's true. I phoned her late last night and told her'. She smiled, although she tried to hit it a little, I noticed.

'Why?' I playfully rolled my eyes at her, she knew full well why she just wants to hear me say it. Oh well, if that's what she wants.

'Because I like you. More than a friend and I don't like the thought of having a girl friend back home when I'm spending time with you. I'm not like Matt or Doug. I can't do that to girls'. She looked at me and had smiled once more.

'That is so sweet Zane'. We kissed then but we were interrupted by Joe and Jenna running down the dock and jumping into the water again, laughing and shouting things to each other. Matt was on one of the ski's with Peyton on the back, trying to make her like him again, While Doug and Sarah were messing around together, laughing in the water, splashing each other like children. 

'So.......I don't have a girl friend now' I told her, pulling our attention back on to the main focus of our conversation. She knew full well what I was going to ask her, but I still wanted to hear ask me.

'Yep, you're a single guy now.' She looked away from me and out over the water, laughing every now and then at what  ever guy or girl was doing some thing funny. I really think if Josh was here, he would like the girls.

'So, Do you maybe want to..possibly go on a date some  times?' She looked at me.

'Who, me and you' I nodded. 'You and me?' I rolled my eyes at her.

'Yeah, I'd like that' She grinned and jumped into my arms, wrapping her small ones around my neck, hugging me tightly. I wrapped mine around hers and held her tight. I hadn't known her long, but I feel like she knows the real me and I loved that.

'Awwwww.....Look at the love birds!!!' Peyton yelled from across the lake. Every  one looked up and awww'ed us. Katie grinned and stood up, pulling me up with her.

'WATER SKI RACE!!!!' She screamed. 

Every one cheered and hopped one to one. Matt and Peyton were already paired up, I got on with Katie one the back, Joe and Jenna did the same and lastly so did Doug and Sarah. Lining up, we '3,2,1'ed and started. In the end, It came down to a draw between me and Katie and Doug and Sarah. 

Heading back to the dock, I noticed out of the corner of my eye what looked like some one stood on the edge of the lake, but it couldnt have been the person from the other night, this was a girl. A young one at that. Maybe one 14 or 15.

'Hey!!!' She looked and quickly ran away. What the hell!?! I probably scared her, I didn't mean to, I just wanted to know who she was.

'What is it?' Matt yelled, now standing on the dock, waiting for us all to get back.

'Nothing!' I yelled back. Maybe my minds playing tricks on me, no one else seemed to notice her, so maybe it really was just my imagination....but maybe it wasn't.
