I cleaned up dinner and decided to go read through the notes that dad left me. While I’m sure that I would feel overwhelmed by the end, I needed to at least start on it all.
I got out there and spent time cleaning up, procrastinating the inevitable. Finally, I got to the desk and sat down. The first note was about the place that dad did business through. The man’s name, store information, and payment method. Looks like dad worked with cash, which of course makes sense since he was trying to keep us under the radar.
The next sheet was about the store that dad ordered supplies through. He included a general list, but I knew there were some specialty items that he probably got here as well. We can’t afford to have all the specialty items sitting around here, at least that is what dad would say.
Under the sheet that had the grocery store name and other pack information, there was a different kind of note.
Bells,
You are the most precious gift your mom and I have ever been given. I am so proud to call you my daughter. I know that you will succeed in whatever you do, even if it takes you time to iron out the kinks.
Most of our money is in a safe, I keep it in the cabinet by the miter saw. Everything we could spare is in there, just in case we had to leave in a hurry. The money that we live off of and use for the carpentry business is in the bottom right desk drawer.
Baby girl, Thorntan and I love you very much, we couldn't be more proud of you.
Sarina came closer to the front with me, her emotions were strong. They were her dad too.
Sarina, I'm sorry you didn't get more time with them.
Me too, but it's better this way. He lasted a long time without going crazy, he needed to be with her.
We will grieve him leaving our lives, but we can honor his life. He left us a beautiful legacy to follow.
We just sat there thinking about our dad, I was able to share some memories with Sarina. Then we got up and got to work. There were a couple new orders dad must have picked up. Someone needed a book case made and the other was a special birthday carving.
Again, I worked all night. I don't think I could sleep without Gavin, even if I tried. By the time the sun started to come up, I had both items almost done. Soon I heard footsteps, I could tell they belonged to Gavin. I checked to make sure that I had unplugged everything and went out to meet him.
I jumped into his arms and he carried me upstairs where we laid down. I snuggled into his warm body as we got comfortable.
“How was your shift?” I asked.
“Uneventful. How was your night?” He asked. I could tell he was trying so hard to stay awake, but he was exhausted.
I kissed his lips, “It was fine, get some rest.”
He drifted off to sleep as I laid there watching him. This is how I want to go to sleep, with my mate next to me. Nothing else would suffice.

Our week passed like this, I would work all night and sleep with Gavin when he got home. Since we hadn't gone to town yet, I worked on new furniture for Gavin’s and my room. I wanted it to be a surprise so I haven't shown him yet.
May did begin teaching me to drive, but I did not take to it quickly. It took our fourth lesson before I could drive somewhat safely. My first lesson was before Gavin went to work. He wasn't even in the vehicle with us and he was trying to give me directions. May and I decided all of our future lessons would be after he was gone.
Friday afternoon I was so excited, Gavin had the night off and we were actually going to be able to have a nice dinner together. May was kind enough to bring us some groceries a few days ago. I wouldn't know where to begin shopping by myself and there isn't a lot of time after Gavin gets up and before his next shift.
Before I laid down with him, I had put a roast in the crockpot with some potatoes and carrots. May told me that Gavin loves roast. When we got up, the whole house smelled so good.
“Baby, that smells fantastic. Is it almost ready?” He asked while getting ready to step into the shower.
I was ogling him a little bit, “Yeah, as soon as you finish in the shower we can eat.”
I didn’t think he noticed, but all of a sudden he turned and pulled me close. I guess he felt what I wanted through our bond.
Eventually we made it downstairs and ate dinner. When we were done, I spoke up, “I have a surprise for you.”
Gavin raised an eyebrow at me. “My favorite dinner and a surprise? What did I do to deserve all this?”
I rolled my eyes at him and giggled; I hurriedly pulled him along to the barn. I really hoped he liked it. We now had two dressers, two night tables, and a bed frame. We would have to buy a mattress for it though. I flipped the light on and turned to him.
“Baby, this is beautiful!” He pulled me to him and kissed me soundly. Then he went to look closer, “You have done a wonderful job!”
“I'm really glad that you like it. We can empty out dad's old room and move these things in. I was going to ask if we could go into town tomorrow and deliver the orders I filled. We could get a mattress while we're out.” I wrapped my arms around one of his and looked up at him.
“That sounds like a great plan. We can start now.” He lifted me up into his arms and jogged to the house. We were both laughing, but he wouldn't put me down until we got upstairs.
Together we moved everything out of the master bedroom, though there really wasn't much. His bed, dresser, and clothes. I never realized how bare it actually felt in there. He must have been so lonely at night time.
We moved all the new furniture up into that room and placed everything the way that we wanted. We even moved our clothes in there so it was almost all set. After that we climbed into my bed for the last time.
