Without even thinking, I begin running after Alexis. The last thing I want to happen is for her to disappear without ever knowing how I truly feel. Karl is dead, and I’m not even sure if she cared about him, but either way, she is pretty alone in this world, and I don’t think anyone deserves that. I used to feel alone, even when I was surrounded by people, and it’s a horrible, isolating feeling. I run and run, thankful that I now have super speed. Troy calls out after me, and I can hear him running behind me, but I don’t stop, I don’t want to lose her. Cutting into the forest across the street, Alexis runs among the trees, trying her best to lose me, but I keep her in my sights, her strong scent also helping me to stay on her tail.
“ALEXIS, STOP!” I scream, but she doesn’t listen.
