Forbidden Contract with a DEMON

THE FOREST

“You guys have been telling me that your hearings are very sensitive and strong right, no way that you cannot tell the where a sound came from. Tammy could tell that you were coming to the home when Raskar was not even close. “ I said, just thinking loudly.

Raskar scowled. “Although I do not like that, you are right. Our senses seem to be a mess now”  

“Thanks” I said smirking.

Tammy signed. “Ok, but that also means that we cannot sense a danger even it is very close to us and I absolutely do not like it”  

“There is a strong energy in the forest, it is forcing our energy back, so our strength became limited and confused here I think” said Ryuu.

Raskar rose his eyebrow. “Then, is that spell watching all of us like they are here is also not working?”

Tammy shook her head sadly. “No, I can feel it, it is still here. It is a very old magic, so forest allows that one I think. But my magic is all gone”

“That is not a surprise, considering how many participants died last time. Especially vampires with high senses” said Ryuu.

“People really died here?” I was scared to think that. I tripped over a stone, but Tammy caught me before I fell. “Careful genius. You asked why there are two vampire attendants before. The reason is that we lost all four attendants in previous hunt 1000 years ago. So only two were allowed to participate, that was decided by previous Chosen One before he passed away. He instructed the participant numbers from each race.”

Then we heard a scream again. This time it was so close, and a loud drum like noise was getting closer.

“Run” said Raskar.

“Ryuu, take Amy’s arm, we will carry her to run faster” yelled Tammy. Before I could protest, Tammy took my right hand and put it on her shoulder. Ryuu immediately did the same from left side. I found myself being carried by them with an incredible speed. My eyes were having a hard time to follow that speed as I was being carried like a child. But I could not say anything, the loud noise was also following us.

“I am taking her on my back, it will be easier” Ryuu, without any effort took me on his back. I hugged his neck from behind and put my legs around his waist. I could feel his strong muscles, he did not even lose his speed. Instead, he got faster.  

We kept running away for few more seconds. Then we stopped suddenly.

Finally, my eyes could grasp the view. We were in front of a cliff. There was a waterfall, a very high one.

Raskar checked around. “We need to jump”

Tammy also checked the cliff. “No, Amy cannot take it”

Raskar held Tammy’s face. “We do not know what is coming Tameris, we must jump. I cannot risk your life”

“And I cannot risk Amy’s life. It is my fault that she is here”

I could hear the growl getting closer. I moved from Ryuu’s back and walked to the edge.

“Tammy, it looks like bungee jumping, I can do it I think”

She looked at me sadly. “Amy we do not know what is inside the water too”

“It cannot be worse than that thing” Ryuu pointed backwards. We looked there and found who was our sound maker. It was a huge monster with gray skin, had a mouth that could just tear me apart in one bite with so many fangs. He was double size of a normal human.

I yelled as I saw it. The monster forged ahead and as a reflex, I jumped screaming. Others also jumped with me. While I was falling, Tammy hugged me in the midair with Ryuu. They covered my body with theirs to protect me. I also felt Raskar hugging Tammy from behind. Even in that situation, I felt grateful to them for doing their best to protect us.

I took a deep breath and covered my eyes. We crushed to the water hardly. The flow was so strong that we started going by the flow under the water. Without letting me go, they tried to get to the surface, but flow was so strong. We continued to struggle for a while, but it felt useless.

 I was losing my breathe. At that moment, Raskar hugged us strongly and pushed us back to the surface by kicking a rock. The second we came to the surface, I started coughing and trying to breath. We were floating.

We were still holding each other. “I can see a branch ahead; we should hold there to get out. Amy, hug my neck again” yelled Ryuu and I did as he told.

The flow took us to the branch. Tammy, Ryuu and Raskar held it strongly against the flow. First, Raskar helped Tammy to climb on the branch, then she pulled me as well. We moved slowly on it to reach the ground. Raskar and Ryuu followed us.

I was so out of breath, still coughing from swallowing so much water.

Tammy was also breathing fast. “Amy, are you ok? Damn, my power is not working at all. No magic, nothing at all even in this situation!”

“I am fine, I think… Don’t worry…but…” I was still trying to catch my breath.

“But what?” Tammy looked at me with worry in her eyes.

“It is sooo cold” I was completely wet in this cold weather.

Tammy tried to make some symbols with her hands. “I want to create a fire, but my magic does not work at all”

Ryuu took of his shirt and squeezed it. He turned his back and I could see it was covered by animal tattoos. There was a big black wolf, a bird, a tiger, a mouse that I could see from a quick glance.  But I could not see clearly as he turned to us again.

Raskar also took his shirt off. Tammy looked away shyly. He took a deep breath, trying to control his anger. “If you could just wait, we would easily handle the goblin there. Instead, you jumped screaming from a cliff, almost got yourself drowned and now you are freezing. Great job, genius.”

I frowned. “Goblin? Ok whatever it was, that thing was huge, and I got afraid, so I jumped. How would you handle that thing?”

Raskar looked at me with an annoyed face. “It was a big goblin yes, but we are two pureblood vampires and our puppy here is not very defenseless. Killing that goblin would not be a hard job for us."

I rolled my eyes. “Ok, so next time when I see a huge monster, I will calmly ask you; dear Raskar, can you handle that monster or shall I start to run? Would you please answer? Is that fine for you?”

“Stop it guys” said Tammy laughing. “But it is true, we are more capable than you think, so give us a chance to react, next time”

I admitted myself that even with the annoying Mr. Fiancée, I was very grateful them and sad that I caused the situation to be worse. “Thanks guys, you were amazing back there. I would just die without you. I will try to act calm from now on” I looked down embarrassed.

Tammy rubbed my head. “Don’t even mention it genius, that is what friends are for”

“Am I a friend too?” Ryuu spoke quietly.  Tammy and I looked at each other and smiled, he was very cute.

I turned to him. “Yes, you are, thanks a lot Ryuu” He smiled back shyly. I felt like he was my lost brother.

Raskar and Ryuu moved to our side in a blink of an eye. They covered me and Tammy. I could see what caused them to be like that. It was a fay. He came very quickly. He was out of breath and there was blood on him.

“What happened to you and the others? Raskar was again in a fight mood, his voice was very deep.

The fay was holding his bleeding arm. “They are dead. You will soon die too”

“I guarantee, your dead will be before us” Raskar’s muscles were getting tense.  

The Fay showed a discussed face. “Do not threaten me vampire, I am not afraid of you. This forest has much worse monsters than you. I will leave your death to them” The fay smiled darkly and left.

Tammy held Raskar’s arm. “What do you think caused the fays to die? They are not easy to kill at all…”

“I do not know. But we will be fine, do not worry” Raskar caressed her cheek.

Ryuu turned around blankly. “How can we find the light, anyway. No one knows where it is, there is no clue”

Raskar looked at him, his hand was still on Tamm’s cheek. “We need to keep moving, standing still will certainly not going to help”

Tammy took his hand and hold it. “Yes, lets keep going. But Amy, do you remember a scene from your dreams that could give us a clue?”

I tried to remember my dreams. Apart from seeing that hooded guy, I tried to remember the other details. “I cannot remember clearly actually. There were so many voices in my dream, I wanted to touch the Light, it was calling me to come closer. But I think there was a ceiling, it was not inside in a forest. There was no tree at all…”

Tammy crossed her arms. “That is strange…maybe a cave?”

Raskar nodded. “It is possible, we should try to find a cave”

Ryuu looked at the sky. “Finding a cave in this huge forest will not be easy too. But we can at least try”

We started walking again, this time trying to find a mountain to check caves. Ryuu and Raskar were walking on the sides, Tammy and I were holding hands, walking carefully between them.

The forest was still very misty. We walked by the water to find where it is going but mist got even stronger.

Tammy broke the silence. “So tell us Ryuu,, were you born as a shifter or someone turned you?”

“I was born as a shifter. My father was the ruler of a big territory. But then, neighbor territory leaders attacked us and my parents died. I left there to survive and never went back. They still want to kill me because I have the right to rule. They are afraid that I might challenge them” His voice was very calm, but I could feel that it was not easy to mention these. I was very sad to hear that he suffered so much.

Tammy looked at him with an apologetic face. “I am very sorry to hear that. That must have been very hard”

I tried to change the topic. “So, a human can turn into a shifter or a vampire?”

Tammy nodded. “Yes. To turn into s shifter, you must be bitten under full moon by another shifter. For vampires, only a pureblood vampire’s bite can turn you. So, a turned vampire cannot turn another human into vampire”

“I see. That means you can turn me into a vampire, right?

Her expression became disrupted. “Yes, but I would never do that. Turned vampires must obey their masters. It is not a good thing to be turned. They are not considered well in our society”  

I laughed. “I just asked Tammy. I did not mean anything. Everything is just so new for me and I found myself in the middle of the oldest and most important event of your world.  I am just trying to understand it more”  

She smiled sadly. “Fine, don’t ever wish for that. I would not want you to get more involved in this. Hope everything can turn back to normal after tonight…”

Ryuu sat down and touched the ground. “Do you feel some vibration from the ground?”

Tammy looked confused. “I did not, why? Do you really feel something?”

“Yes, there is something underground” He was still touching it.

Then I also felt the shaking from the ground. We could see small cracks in it first, then cracks got bigger as if there was a huge earthquake.

Tammy held me and Raskar strongly. “What is this…be careful do not fall Amy, stay close!”

“I will surely stay close to you, don’t worry” I said loudly.

 Few meters ahead, a huge hole appeared in front of us. Then there was a roar. It hurt my ears. A green hand came from the ground. It looked like it was made from plants, but then a big head also appeared. It had big teeth like branches in his mouth and was roaring strongly. Wild ivies from its hands started to move in the air towards us. 

“That is a High Green Goblin with poison ivies on its hands” yelled Ryuu.

“So, what shall I do?” I asked calmly as I promised.

“I said they are poisoned, even for us!” Ryuu yelled again.

“So, you guys cannot handle it?” I asked again, still calm.

“No!” three of them yelled at the same time.

Ryuu took my arms again and I found myself on his back. We started running at an amazing speed. I could barely see Tammy and Raskar next to us.

“Till when were you planning to stare to that goblin you genius?” I heard Raskar’s voice.

I could not see him well, but I replied. “You said I should act calmly and let you guys handle it”

“Good job genius” Raskar said sarcastically while running. But then, the cracks reached us again, this time it was much bigger. Ryuu tried to avoid them but a huge one appeared, and we could not avoid falling in it.  I started screaming again but this time I was not the only one, I heard Tammy’s scream too as we all fell down into the huge cracks.
