Forbidden Contract with a DEMON

MR. FIANCE

“Do I look fine” Tammy asked energetically for the thousandth time.

“You look amazing! Any guy would fall on their knees in front of you. So, if that guy is not interested in you, believe me, he must be gay. At least I will have a reason to like him then, we will have a gay best friend. For you, this is a win-win situation” I smiled.

“Except from the fact that I am kind of interested in him and I will have a broken heart if he is gay. But who cares about my broken heart, right” She rolled her eyes, imitating my usual reaction. “Lets go downstairs. He is about to arrive”

“He texted you?” I rose my eyebrow.

“No, I can hear the car coming here”

I just kept staring at Tammy.

“Yes, vampires can hear very well, like really well. So, I can hear it” Tammy smiled.

“Cool. I would not want our girls talk to be heard though, but cool”

We got out of the room to walk downstairs. I was wearing a purple dress that I borrowed from Tammy. It suited with my brown hair; I thought. I was shorter than Tammy, but she said this is an old dress, so it suited my size. I was surprised how many dresses and accessories she had. But considering they were an old vampire family living in a castle, I should not be surprised by such things, I guess.

As we walked by, I could hear that Mr. Fiancé was already here and talking to Tammy’s mother.

“Thank you very much for your kind invitation, Mrs. Renorius.”

“Thanks for coming Raskar. It is nice to see you.” said Mrs. Renorius while we entered the room. The guy was indeed very handsome. As Tammy said, he had very dark black hair, but his green eyes were giving a bright look, contrary to his hair. I could even tell from his thick black high neck sweater that he was very muscular. 

As soon as we entered the room, his eyes immediately went for Tammy. I could catch that his gaze to Tammy was passionate, which was a very good thing.

“Welcome, Raskar.” said Tammy with an embarrassed voice. That was the first time I saw her like this.

“Hello Tameris” He answered shortly and looked away from her. Was he being shy or cold, I could not tell.

Tammy put her arm on my shoulders. “This is my best-friend Amy. I told you about her before. She is a human as you can tell. But she knows about us now so you can be comfortable”

“It is nice to meet you, I am Amy” I got closer to him, offering my hand to shake. He took my hand gently but shook it strongly.

“I am Raskar. Pleasure to meet you. So, you are the reason why Tameris stays in human world” he said. His voice was kind, yet his eyes were not. Mrs. Renorius saved me from giving an answer to him. “Please come to dinner room everyone. My Husband will join us soon. He has some business to take care of”

Raskar followed Mrs. Renorius, Tammy and I walked behind them. I looked at her, moved my mouth “Not bad”

She also opened her mouth and moved her lips as “Shut Up” and smiled.

The dinner room was a huge one. Thirty people could easily have a dinner on the table. We moved to the edge and sat down. Mrs. Renorius and I sat on one side and Raskar and Tammy on the other. The edge was left for Mr. Renorius probably.

“So how are your parents Raskar?” asked Mrs. Renorius looking at him nicely.

“They are fine Mrs. Renorius, thank you. They also wanted me to convey their greetings to you and apologized that they could not join us tonight. They needed to be in Austria due to some work. But they are coming tomorrow to attend Sacred Hunt”

“I see. It will be nice to see them. As you know, Tammy will also attend for the hunt Raskar, I believe I can trust you to take care of her?” She looked very serious and worried. Was this Light Hunt so dangerous that Mrs. Renorius was worried for Tammy? How hard could it be to find a light, I wondered.

“Surely, I will not let any harm to come to her Mrs. Renorius.” His face was also very serious, he looked at Tammy with worried eyes.   

But Tammy protested with an annoyed look; “Mom, please. I can take care of myself. That is why I was also selected to be in it.”

 This scenery did not surprise me. I knew that she never liked to be taken care of. She was the one that needed to look after everyone. That was just how Tammy was like.

Mrs. Renorius put her hand below her chin. “I know dear, but still, being cautious is important. After all, many lives were lost in previous hunts.”

“What?” I was so surprised to hear that.

“It is fine Amy. They are just old tales. Basically, you just need to find the Sacred Light, that is all.”  Tammy said quickly, but she was not very convincing at all.

Mrs. Renorius clapped her hands. “Well, well, Amy dear, could you please tell us how my beautiful girl is in your world? Is she doing fine at the human school?”

Tammy sent me a warning look. That was the moment of not mentioning crazy and stupid parts I guessed.

“She is doing great. She is very successful. Teachers like her very much. She is also very popular, girls want to hang out with her, guys are asking her out, so all is going well. But we usually just hang out together either in our houses or by lake side. We enjoy our time together.”  As I spoke, I realized that Mr. Fiancé was looking even paler than before with huge eyes. Did I say something I should not have or was he having a stomach problem, again I could not tell.  

“Oh, I would not expect anything less from my daughter. But I think you must be popular yourself too, having such beautiful features and an interesting character” Mrs. Renorius was being very kind, I liked her.

“Ah no, I am not like that” I smiled at her kindly.  

“Yes, she is. But she is just busy ignoring everyone and put guys into friendzone all the time” said Tammy smiling.

Now it was my turn to glare. As I was about to say something, Mr. Renorius walked in. “Excuse me for being late. I was in a meeting with Elders.”

Raskar stoop up from his chair and bowed his head. “Mr.Renorius, pleasure to see you”

“Welcome Raskar. Sit down. You should enjoy dinner before the Sacred Hunt and gather your strength. There is also news regarding the hunt for your human friend, Tameris.” he said looking at me.

Tammy spoke in surprise. “What do you mean father? How is she involved in it?

He said down on the edge of the table. “I talked to Elders. Normally, humans stopped attending the Sacred Hunt since the past three hunts. Because they lost their strength and involved in daily matters, getting blind to the real nature. However, in your friend’s case, she showed that her vision was more clear than other humans since she could see me under my coverage. She also had dreams about the Sacred Light itself, that is a very important sign. Considering these, Elders decided that she has the capacity to be a participant for the hunt. Humans used to attend the hunt, so they think this is a great chance to bring it back.”

“No way! She does not have any powers! Seeing you when she was with me and having some dreams does not mean she can go to that place! You told me yourself that it is very dangerous! How can a normal human girl attend such thing? This is suicide for her!” Tammy yelled as she rose from her chair. I was trying to clear my mind and speak but my blood was bumping in my head like a drum.

“Decision has been made, Tameris. It is an honor to host the Human Participant of Sacred Hunt for us. Please continue the dinner and rest well today. Tomorrow we will move to the Sacred Land”

Tammy sat down on the chair, it was more like she fell on it, looking at me blankly. She closed her eyes. “Amy, I am so sorry that I got you involved. I promise, everything will be fine. I will make sure of that” She looked at me again, her eyes were teary.

I was getting really afraid but seeing Tammy this worried and sad made me calm down. I wanted to comfort her.

“Tammy it is fine. Calm down please. Tell me more about this Sacred Hunt. If you will be there, I think it will be fine. I am not afraid”   

“I will be there too. I will protect both of you, Tameris” Raskar said. He was looking at Tammy with very gentle eyes.

“Tameris, maybe it is better that three of you go to the garden and talk calmly there. You can show our beautiful flowers to Amy” said Mrs. Renorius.

Tammy signed. “Yes Mother, it will be better to go outside”

We walked to the garden. It was very beautiful indeed. There were red roses and many colorful flowers I did not even know. There was a big pavilion surrounded by ivies. We sat there. Above us, moon was looking very brightly.

I turned to Tammy. “So, tell me. Why are you so worried? What are Elders by the way? Who are they?”

Tammy looked at the moon with sad eyes. “Elders are a council of the oldest and strongest of five ruler races; Humans, Fays, Demons, Vampires and Shifters. Now there are four elders only, humans left the council long time ago. I heard that the last Human Elder was from Ancient Egypt. Then they left and humans did not attend the last three hunts, which means it has been around three thousand years since the last human participant. Sacred Hunt happens in every 1000 years.”

“Five races...I know humans and vampires and shifters can change their bodies I guess, like werewolves right? But fays and demons, what are they?” I was confused and curious.  

“Fays are fairies as you know. But not like cute ones, they are very dangerous. They can be very tricky with your mind. There are many fay races, having various talents. As for the Demons, they are dark creatures; it is said that they were humans first and then received the blood and power from Devil himself. Then they continued to grow stronger.”

I rose my eyebrow. “I will see all of these creatures tomorrow?”

Tammy signed again and looked at Raskar. He answered my question; “Yes, we will have a big audience and there will be ten participants from ruler races and others. But demons can only watch. They cannot participate. Sacred Light power is not allowed for them to have” 

 “So I have to be there, with them? Can I just stay in the corner and watch you guys do whatever you want?” I asked sincerely as I could do nothing against all these creatures as my rivals. There was no point at all. 

Raskar looked away from me silently. Then Tammy started talking again; “That is my point, you cannot do anything and even being with them is dangerous for you. There are very hard obstacles to overcome as I heard. It is not just finding a huge light ball like you saw in your dream. It is a dangerous forest with full of dangerous creatures.”

“You just said the opposite inside” 

“That was before I learned that you need to participate as well. This changes everything. I was not worried about myself. Now I am worried about you”

“Do I not have a say about this? I can say that I do not want to go?”

Raskar shook his head. “That does not seem possible. If Elders decided that you need to attend, you must do that. No one can go against their word”

“That does not seem right. What will I even say to my parents? Forget the dangerous creatures, my Mom is gonna kill me if I don’t go home” Bad jokes and being sarcastic was my self-defense when I was feeling nervous.  

“We can take care of that. We can just convince them that you are safe and staying at my home” said Tammy.

“By convincing, you mean how?”

“Vampires can be very convincing. We can enchant humans and make them believe things.”

“That sounds very useful.”  But then I wondered… “Have you ever used that on me?”

“No, you are my friend of course….” Tammy stopped talking before finishing her sentence and went quite for few seconds, rolling her eyes from left to right. That was her guilty look.

“You did, didn’t you!” I said, seeing the obvious answer. 

“It was only one time.” She admitted in guilt.

“When?”

“You know you did not want to talk to Martin Larris and say that you liked him….”

I yelled. “Oh-my-God…you enchanted me to confess to him! To-get-rejected-by-him!!”

“I did not know that i***t was going to reject you. How could he reject a beautiful human like you, I never understood that. I really thought that you were going to be happy…I am sorry…” she said in a low voice.

“Ahhhh Tammy...I cannot believe you. That was the most embarrassing thing ever….”

“It is good to see you two so energetic. You will need that tomorrow” Raskar said coldly.  

I crossed my arms, sitting on the pavilion. “I am really mad now; I don’t care about tomorrow”

Raskar grinned looking at me. “You should. It will be tougher than getting rejected by Martin Larris” Mr. Fiancé was messing with me. Then, I heard a snort. It was from Tammy, forcing herself not to laugh.

“You are sooooo unreliable, come here...” I laughed and tried to catch her to pull her cheeks.

Mrs. Renorius walked in smiling. “How lovely, you are getting along so well. But you need to sleep now. It will be a long day tomorrow. Also, do not forget to prepare thick clothes for Amy, it will be very cold for her.”

“I don’t feel cold easily Mrs. Renorius. Thanks.” I answered.

“But it is at least minus fifteen there, it is freezing for a human, is it not?

“Minus fifteen? Where is this place?” I looked at them confused.

“In Finland” Mrs. Renorius said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

I held my hands in front, like stopping her. “I am sorry, where is Finland? We are not talking about the country Finland located in Europe, right?”

“Exactly, it is that Finland” she answered smiling.

I looked at them for few seconds. Tammy was smiling. She knew that I was swearing at her with my eyes. “I do not have a passport I am afraid” I showed a smile, trying not to freak out.

“Oh dear, it surely will not be needed” Mrs. Renorius also showed a kind smile.  

I wondered what I got myself into…
