Authors Note. Sorry for the really late update! I didn't think I'd get many views so I forgot that I had uploaded a few chapters here. I will try to update more regularly from now on :) Now on with the story. "Your hair is a unique colour, your eyes too." He said suddenly. "I know Master." "Did you get them from your parents?" He placed a book on the desk and turned to face me. I furrowed my brows and I thought back to when I was with my parents. Thinking back on it my mind gets a little fuzzy. My mother had blonde hair but it wasn't a silver white like mine, she had brown eyes whilst my father had dark blue eyes and brown hair. "My hair from my mother, although it turned silver gradually after I was 7." I said slowly, after my parents died. "My eyes were from neither." "Interesting." He continued to study me, making me uncomfortable. "Where are your parents?" He asked, he stepped away from the desk and sat on his bed. "They ugh," I felt my throat go dry, although it was years ago, I never talked about them much as it was a pain I never got over, I never will. "They passed after I turned seven Master." I cleared my throat and met his gaze. "Both of them?" I nodded. "At the same time." His eyebrows raised and then furrowed after hearing that. He was confused, and when I looked back at it, I was too. They died the same day, same time. Neither showed symptoms of being sick. I had just woken up from a nap to see them lying on the floor of my bedroom dead. I lowered my eyes to the floor. "What is your full name?" He asked. I stared at him before replying. "Faye Singh, Master." He nodded slowly. "How did you know my first name?" I asked. "What can I say, I'm good at guessing?" He grinned but my eyes narrowed slightly, I didn't believe him, he was a vampire after all and they weren't known for being truthful. He sat at the desk and started to write a letter. I stood awkwardly as I stared out the windows. The mansion was surrounded by a pine forest apart from the front and the backyard which were fields before they met the pine forest. My hair that was still damp started to flow backwards as the wind crept through the windows. My hair was long and often hard to maintain and keep tidy, It never really bothered me anyway. I turned to see Nicholas who was already staring at me. "Master do you have a hair clip so I can pull back my hair?" I asked and looked at the ground. "I'll see if I can find one." He said. He stood up and left the room, I breathed out a shaky breath that I didn't realise I was holding in. So far Nicholas hasn't asked me to do anything yet and he hasn't hurt me, but in saying that, I've only been here for a couple of hours. Regardless, he is a sinister vampire. I am afraid but I have a feeling my temerarious disposition will be making a dramatic appearance. It had gotten dark already and Nicholas wasn't back. I was starting to wonder if he died. I was getting hungry, I was use to having little to eat but I only had a small piece of bread this morning and it was already after 8. I stepped out onto the balcony and let the cold air nip my skin. The wild loose strands of hair around my face kept tickling my cheek and forehead. As I stared out into the darkness I came to wonder why I was even here. I was kidnapped by a watcher but why did Nicholas buy me? Was I really just to become a blood bag for him? His slave? When I think back to it, when we first met he made the comment, 'Two birds with one stone.' What did that mean? I presume the watcher was one bird seeming Nicholas wanted information, so that must mean I'm the second bird. Was he just looking to buy a slave that day or is it something more. The way he looked at me was almost as if he knew me but I'm sure I've never seen him before. Come to think of it, he knew my name too. This man was very mysterious to me, for many reasons. He gives off a murderous yet enthralling vibe about him. "Are you going to jump?" I gasped and spun around to see Nicholas leaning back against the wall. "Excuse me Master?" I asked as I tried to calm my beating heart. Vampires are stealthy and quiet with their actions, I need to be more careful around him. Just like wild animals, they love the thrill of their preys raised heartbeat and the chase. "You are standing at the edge of my balcony looking out into the darkness. Looks like you're pondering life." He spoke flatly. I looked down and shook my head. "No I wasn't pondering life." "Something else though?" His question made me look up and meet his eyes. He seems to know when somethings on my mind, I know vampires are intelligent but he is intuitive and it's a trait good for him but not for me. "Ah, no Master." I said looking back down and shuffling my feet timorously. "Just admiring the view then." He spoke his witty comeback which had my heart beating a little faster. He knew more or less what was on my mind but he was also the type to torture you to get it out of you, rather than just admitting he knows. He likes to be in control, typical vampire. "I'm going to bed, I've had a long day." He spoke as he walked back inside, I followed him and closed the balcony door. "Where did you go?" I asked. "Did you miss me?" He replied back sarcastically. "I had some sudden business to attend to." I slowly nodded my head. "You can sleep on the couch, there's a blanket for you." He climbed into his bed and I got comfy on the couch. At least I tried, with aching ribs it was hard to get comfortable. I lay on my back with the blanket pulled up to my chin. The room was dark so I couldn't see anything, I could hear the faint sound of Nicholas breathing slowly. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The couch was comfier than my bed at home but I still missed it. This isn't my home and I don't belong here, I need to find a way to escape without getting killed. Eventually sleep consumed me and it wasn't until the early hours of the morning that I woke. There was a small amount of light streaming through the windows, making the dark room look somewhat more delicate. I sat up and pulled the blanket around my shoulders. If I had to guess it was no later than 6am and by the looks of it, Nicholas is still sleeping. I slowly got up and went to the bathroom. I was use to getting up and then doing chores but here, I'm not sure what to do. I would usually go to the stream to wash my face and clothes, I'd grab a bucket of water to take back to the house to wash the dishes or do other things. I looked at myself in the mirror and gently started to untangle my hair with my fingers. The black slaves dress made my eyes look an even brighter blue than they are, I always did wonder why my eyes were this colour. I had never seen anyone else like this. If my parents were alive then I'm sure they'd be able to explain my strange features. While I was standing in the bathroom I hadn't noticed that Nicholas had woken up and left the bedroom so I was confused when I saw the bed empty. Curious, I went to open the bedroom door but it was locked. I furrowed my brows, he must be expecting me to escape. I went and sat back down on the couch, unsure what I am suppose to be doing. My eyes scanned the room and landed on the book Nicholas had been writing in yesterday. I got up and opened the book. He had wrote about the humans that were planning on going against the vampires and the herb wolfsbane, it sounded familiar but I couldn't quite remember it. I closed the book and walked over to the book shelf, my fingers skimmed across the spines of the books until I stopped on a dark blue book with golden writing. Witches Prophecy I read the title, I was about the pull the book out but the door opened so I turned around quickly. "Don't you think it's a tad rude to touch other people's belongings?" He questioned with a raised brow. "I apologise Master." I quickly bowed my head. His eyes narrowed on the navy book that I was about to grab, I heard a small thud as he placed an apple on the desk. "Eat." I looked at the apple then at him. He walked off into the bathroom and shut the door. I grabbed the apple and inspected it. I don't trust him not to drug me or something. My grumbling stomach made me bite the apple regardless, food is food and he doesn't really need to drug me, he can over power me easily. After I took a few bites my eyes wandered back to the book. Why does he have a witches prophecy? I know vampires hate witches and the way he spoke about then helping the humans just assures that. So maybe he has it so he has an edge over the witches, so he knows about them. I finished eating the apple and walked towards the bookshelf. Nicholas was bathing so I'm hoping he will be a while so I can investigate the book. I'm not even sure why I'm so interested in the book but I just want to read it. I reached up towards it, it was on the second highest shelf so I had to tipy toe. Before my hand could reach it it flew out from the bookshelf and smacked into my forehead. "Ah!" I stumbled backwards and fell on the floor. What just happened? Did the book jump at me? I felt a warm liquid drip down my forehead. The book hit my wound from yesterday and spilt it open again. I heard the bathroom door open and heard Nicholas speak. "What happened?" He asked, spotting me on the floor still. He walked around to me and his eyes found the book that was also laying on the ground. "Did you grab the book?" "I tried." I said softly, I raised my hand to my forehead to stop the bleeding. "Tried?" I looked at him and suddenly realised he was only wearing his pants. My eyes widened and I averted my gaze to the ground. "I just tripped." I said. I don't think he would believe me if I said it jumped out and attacked me. "After you got hit with the book. What happened Faye." He spoke sternly as I stepped forward and grabbed the book off the ground. "I reached for it and it flew out and hit my head." I said quietly, I slowly stood up. "Then I tripped and fell backwards." I looked at Nicholas, he was staring at me with his eye brows slightly furrowed. "It isn't good that you've reopened your wound." He stepped forward and moved my hand off my wound, he leaned forward and inspected it. "I'm sorry." I said softly. "I shouldn't of tried to grab the book again." "No, you shouldn't have." He stepped back and walked back into the bathroom. "That isn't an ordinary book." He walked back out with a damp cloth and motioned to the couch so I went and sat down. "It's a witches prophecy." I said as I stared into his eyes. "Witches are dangerous creatures. You ought to be careful when you're dealing with their creations." He gently wiped the blood off my forehead and cleaned up my wound. "Vampires are dangerous too." I looked into his eyes, looking for any reaction. His lips turned up into a smirk as he stared back. "Yes we are." He grabbed my wrist which made me gasp, and pulled my hand towards him. It was the hand I used to press against my wound so there was a bit of blood on it. He pulled my hand to his lips and much to my surprise and discomfort, he started to lick the blood. "Master Nicholas, what are you doing?" I tried to pull back but his grip was far too strong. "Mm you are indeed tasty, such sweet blood. You must've been raised well." He smirked. "Go wash the rest of the blood off." He stood up and let me past to the bathroom. I held my hands under the water and let the leftover blood run off. When I walked back into the bedroom my eyes landed on the book that he had placed on his desk. Nicholas noticing this, started to speak. "There are 10 books in total." He said. "Why 10?" I asked. "The books are from the first 10 witches. The history of witches started of with just 10, they are the strongest witches as they were the ones that knew the secrets to the world. They each wrote a prophecy, each and every book is tied in together so you need everyone of them for it to make sense." He walked to the desk and picked up the book. "Where are the rest?" I asked, I was curious, I'm not entirely sure why I'm so curious about the books but I am. "The council have the 3rd and 6th book. I have the 8th. After the witches wrote them, they knew they had to hide them in case they fell in bad hands, which some did. Some are still scattered around in hiding and others have been found by witches already. But as I said, you need all of them for it to make sense. I need the 7th and 9th book to understand the 8th and from there I need the rest to understand the whole story." I nodded my head slowly. "A prophecy is what the writer thinks will happen in the future right?" He nodded. "So all these books are of what the first 10 witches thought would happen." "Yes. However, it's not just what they thought would happen, it's what they knew would happen." I raised my brows at him so he continued. "Like I said, these witches were powerful and they could see what would happen thousands of years in the future. So they wrote it down, in hopes that one day maybe someone would decipher it and try save the world." I pursued my lips. "You're not trying to save the world though?" He chuckled. "Not exactly. I am however interested in these books and seeing what is written in them. If the wrong witches get their slimy paws on enough books, it would't be good. Not only for my kind but for yours too." "I see." I stared at the book, I swear I've seen one like that before but I can't remember where. "Can you read?" Nicholas asked, my gaze shifted from the book to his eyes. "Yes. I was taught to read when I was younger, by my father. He always said that reading and writing is a skill that will help me live." "Well he isn't wrong." Nicholas spoke, he stepped forward and extended the arm that was holding the book. "Read this." "Why?" I asked. "Well you were so interested in it before." He raised a brow and had a small grin on his lips. I slowly took the book from him, I was scared it was going to hit me again. When I held it in front of me I stared at it in awe, it was a beautiful book. For being thousands of years old, it looked brand new. I opened the book to the first page. 'Giddian Holmes' I read, was that the name of the witch that wrote it? 'My brothers and sisters have decided it is in our best interests to write what we have foreshadowed. Although I truly wish this would never come, I have seen it so I know it will. There are many supernatural species that will rise in the latter years, that will challenge the first three supernatural beings, The Vampires, The Werewolves and lastly, us the Witches. We can only hope that our existence will not perish from this land as we are the only ones who truly can decipher the world. The vampires like to steal our secrets to use it against us, we know it is only because we are a threat to them. We don't want war, but they are trying to create one. A vampires greed will catch up on them, wars will be started and wars will be lost. Witches against vampires, werewolves against vampires and then humans against vampires.' I looked up at Nicholas who was studying me while I read as if he wanted me to tell him what I learnt. "This one speaks about war, and it has mentioned a war against humans and vampires. I heard you speaking about the humans going against the vampires, maybe this is what the book is speaking about." He grinned and nodded his head. "Likely so."
